Chapter 380 - Chapter 380: Abigail’s Defense Against the Dark Arts Class

The Kappa nodded, lifted its turtle shell, and retracted its head inside before crouching in the corner, ready to ambush students.

Originally green, its skin now changed to blend in with the surroundings, making it almost invisible at first glance.

"A Disillusionment Charm?" Professor Abigail was once again surprised.

"Just a simple Color Change Charm," Wade replied. "A Disillusionment Charm would be too unfair, and the Kappa's camouflage isn't that detailed."

This magical creature was like a chameleon—while skilled at hiding in its environment, anyone observant enough could still spot it.

Before long, a chorus of screams echoed through the corridor.

The mischievous Professor Abigail burst into laughter, showing not the slightest hint of guilt for tormenting her own students.

Wade simply stood there and watched the scene unfold, occasionally glancing at the professor.

It was hard to believe that a professor like her had any truly malicious intent. She was the kind who wouldn't hesitate to duel a student, wouldn't complain if she got beaten in return, and would never abuse her authority to give out detentions.

Her teaching style was one of a kind—she would demonstrate a spell once, and then it was straight into combat. Students often found themselves getting beaten up, sometimes fighting each other, and even facing sneak attacks or Muggle weapons.

Her methods were unpredictable and challenging to deal with—even Wade had fallen for her tricks several times in Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

As long as a student could defeat their opponent, any tactic was fair game—except for Dark Magic.

Professor Abigail rarely taught textbook theory, nor did she help students prepare for exams or improve their grades. She was solely focused on teaching them how to survive real-world dangers.

Students who enjoyed this style of learning admired her greatly, while those who feared injury or combat dreaded every lesson and often left class in tears.

But no matter how they felt about her, one thing was certain—

Everyone believed that Professor Abigail is genuinely teaching them survival skills, and everything she taught is actually useful.

Compared to her, Quirrell and Lockhart's lessons were a complete waste of time.

In the corridor ahead, after a brief moment of chaos, a student finally remembered the Kappa's weakness—

Michael suddenly leaped sideways and narrowly dodged the creature's clawed swipe, and shouted, "Bow! Bow to it!"

Goyle, who was standing nearby, hesitated for a second—only to have the Kappa grab his ankles and yank hard. The boy crashed to the ground with a loud thud and groaned in pain.

Fortunately, Goldstein had overheard Michael's warning. Swallowing his fear, he stepped forward, stood directly in front of the Kappa, and bowed deeply.

Everyone held their breath and watched intently.

This type of creature possessed great strength, flexible arm movements, and exceptional agility. Anyone who tried to cast a spell would find their incantation interrupted by its swift attacks. It even used other students as human shields to block incoming spells.

In the narrow corridor, a single magical creature had managed to overwhelm an entire group of students, giving their unethical professor quite an entertaining show.

At that moment, Goldstein stood motionless with eyes fixed on the ground and sweat forming on his forehead.

The Kappa tilted its head and stared at him for a moment, its small triangular eyes filled with malice and anticipation. However, after a few seconds, seeing that Goldstein remained steadfast in his bow, the Kappa reluctantly bent forward in response.

Splash!

The water in the dish on top of the Kappa's head spilled out completely. The once ferocious creature instantly collapsed onto the ground, as if all its strength had drained away.

The students erupted into cheers, as though they had defeated a great demon king.

"That was way too dangerous! Why is there such a creature inside the school?" Lisa complained.

"It must be Professor Hagrid! He always brings dangerous creatures into Hogwarts… but this time, he went too far—he even let it inside the castle!"

Pansy, still fuming, kicked the motionless Kappa and said, "Honestly, someone like him doesn't deserve to be a professor. Right, Draco?"

She turned around, looking for support.

Draco hesitated for a moment—but said nothing.

After all, Hagrid had promised to show him a dragon, a promise that had yet to be fulfilled.

But there was a problem. Last semester, Draco had attacked Crabbe, and as punishment, he received daily detentions this term. Because of this, he never had the chance to visit the dragon.

Draco had even hinted at wanting to receive detention from Hagrid, thinking they could sneak into the Forbidden Forest together—but Hagrid refused.

The Forbidden Forest at night is far too dangerous, and Hagrid couldn't risk allowing the only heir of the Malfoy family to get hurt.

Draco's silence left Pansy feeling awkward. Annoyed, she shot a glare at Daphne.

Daphne quickly echoed, "Yeah, yeah! It was way too dangerous!"

Still irritated, Pansy stomped on the fallen Kappa twice.

Just then, Professor Abigail strolled over and, in a lazy tone, remarked—

"Kindly lift your esteemed foot, Miss Parkinson! Stop damaging our teaching materials!"

Everyone exclaimed in shock, "Professor?!"

Professor Abigail pointed her wand, and the dish on top of the Kappa's head instantly refilled with fresh water.

Regaining its strength, the Kappa climbed back onto its feet, causing the surrounding students to scatter in panic.

Pansy immediately hid behind Daphne, who freaked out and instinctively pulled Nott over to stand in front of them.

Nott: "..."

With a resigned sigh, he stood at the front with his entire body on high alert.

The Kappa hadn't seriously harmed anyone, but its methods of attack were utterly disgusting—pulling hair, poking noses, and tripping people were just minor annoyances.

The real horror? It also had a habit of grabbing people's butts, making the female students absolutely terrified.

"Alright, you've all experienced the Kappa firsthand. Now, can anyone tell me the characteristics of a Hinkypunk, a Red Cap, or a Grindylow?" Professor Abigail asked.

Several hands shot up.

Professor Abigail glanced around, nodded in acknowledgment—but instead of calling on anyone to answer, she announced—

"It seems quite a few of you haven't done your assigned reading. But don't worry—you still have five minutes to catch up."

The students stared at her, completely confused—What does she mean?

Professor Abigail offered no explanation and instead walked straight into the classroom.

At that moment, the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom had undergone a dramatic transformation.

All the desks and chairs had disappeared. Instead, heavy curtains hung down from the ceiling, dividing the huge room into countless sections.

From the door to the blackboard, only a narrow passageway remained, and on the board, a giant five-minute countdown was ticking down.

"Wade, you were just with the professor, right? What does she mean by this?" Michael whispered.

Wade glanced at the other dazed students and raised his voice—

"In five minutes, the magical creatures the professor just mentioned will start attacking. You better prepare yourselves."

"WHAT?!!!"

The students gasped in shock, and in the next second, the entire room was filled with frantic page-flipping sounds.
