Chapter 6 - Solo or in Teams?

On the surface, the black iron-level skeleton before him looked identical to the one he had summoned earlier that afternoon. Its shape hadn't changed much; it resembled the skeleton from the garbage dump. But appearances can be deceiving.

[Black Iron Skeleton Warrior]

Despite the similar appearance, the attributes had undergone a dramatic transformation. Each attribute had increased tenfold. This meant that not only had its strength, agility, and spirit improved, but a tenfold increase in physical fitness also significantly enhanced the skeleton warrior's vitality and defense.

With the added advantage of the damage transfer skill, defeating Lin Moyu would be no easy feat.

Lin Moyu released the skeleton warrior from the summoning space and noted that its attributes had also multiplied by ten. The across-the-board increases had clearly made a difference.

With 10 points of mental power remaining, Lin Moyu summoned another black iron skeleton. He then began to meditate—a practice that restored his mental strength and served as an adequate substitute for sleep. Many students at the school had mastered this technique.

The next morning, Lin Moyu awoke on schedule, fully restored. Three black iron skeletons stood motionless in front of him, resembling vigilant guards. The flickering soul flames in their skulls cast an eerie glow, and a chill swept through the room.

"This is perfect for summer; I won't have to worry about the heat," he thought, a slight smile creeping onto his lips.

Using his summoning ability again, he called forth a fourth skeleton warrior and sent all four to the summoning space. With 10 points of mental power and four black iron-level skeletons at his command, Lin Moyu felt more than prepared. With 150 points of strength, even a level 7 or 8 knight warrior would pose little challenge.

At the school gate, a bus awaited to transport them to the dungeon location. Upon arrival, the place was bustling with activity. It wasn't just students from No. 1 Middle School attending the novice dungeon; nearly all the students who had completed their job changes in Xihai City had come.

With six middle schools in the city, over 800 students had changed jobs the previous day. Most had become life professions, leaving fewer than 200—less than a third—to face the challenges of the novice dungeon.

As students gathered, the school teachers processed the dungeon admission procedures.

"Old Lu, you've outdone yourself this time," one principal remarked. "A rare class of main battle and a unique hidden class is quite impressive."

"Your No. 1 Middle School has been on a roll. Last year, Lin Mohan made it into Xiajing Academy. Are you set to knock on their door again today?" another added.

Lu Yun beamed with pride. "Xia Xue and Lin Moyu are both exceptional. I truly hope they get admitted to Xia Jing Academy."

"Is Xia Xue from the Xia family?" someone asked.

"And Lin Moyu—why does that name sound so familiar?"

Lu Yun replied, "Yes, Xia Xue is the eldest daughter of the Xia family, and Lin Moyu is Lin Mohan's younger brother."

"That makes sense. The Xia family has a strong lineage, and those siblings are truly remarkable."

Gao Yang nudged Lin Moyu playfully. "Want to team up with me?"

Lin Moyu shook his head, unfazed.

Gao Yang pretended to be offended. "You look down on me, huh? I'm sincerely inviting you. If you don't give me a good reason, I won't let this go."

Though he feigned anger, a glint of amusement danced in his eyes.

Lin Moyu remained silent, and after a moment, Gao Yang's demeanor shifted. "Boss, how about teaming up?"

Lin Moyu replied calmly, "Team leveling is slow. Solo leveling is faster."

Gao Yang looked puzzled. "How do you know that?"

"Read more books," Lin Moyu retorted, offering a rare response.

Gao Yang rubbed his head, clearly unconvinced. At that moment, Xia Xue chimed in, "Lin Moyu is right. Teaming up may speed up monster kills, but experience gets divided equally. While a two-person team might increase kill speed by 50 to 60%, the fixed time it takes to find monsters slows overall efficiency."

"Experience shows that dungeons below level 10 are better suited for solo play, while those above level 10 are more appropriate for teams."

Gao Yang, considering her words, finally understood.

Just then, Lu Yun approached. "All main combat occupations, except for Xia Xue and Lin Moyu, must bring auxiliary roles into the dungeon."

"Don't expect to level up efficiently alone; support is crucial in high-difficulty dungeons."

"Typically, I would advise against seeking support and instead recommend finding classmates who can assist. At least with classmates, there's a bond, and they won't abandon you in times of danger."

Lu Yun's message resonated, dispelling the earlier inclination towards solo play among the students.

"Why don't Xia Xue and Lin Moyu need support?" someone inquired.

Clearing his throat, Lu Yun explained, "Both are unique cases. Xia Xue is aiming for rapid advancement to enter Xia Jing Academy and won't be in the novice dungeon long—just a couple of days at most. As for Lin Moyu, his profession and combat capabilities remain a mystery. You can ask for support if you want to team up with him."
