"The Serpent Empire is in trouble?" Mo Yu's expression changed abruptly, his tone turning cold.
Noticing Mo Yu's sudden shift in demeanor, She Lao nodded with understanding, as his mood was equally grim.
The Serpent Empire was a nation founded by the snake-people clan in the Tagore Desert with Mo Yu's support. She Lao, being a member of the snake-people clan, naturally held deep ties to the empire.
"It's not just the Serpent Empire. One could say the entire Northwestern Region is in turmoil," She Lao said, casting his gaze toward the northwest with a long sigh.
"What happened?"
Mo Yu seemed to have guessed something, while Xiao Yu, standing to the side, quickly asked, concern evident on her face.
As a member of the Jia Ma Empire, also situated on the Northwestern Region, Xiao Yu's expression shifted. She grew increasingly worried, as the Xiao Clan remained in the Jia Ma Empire.
She Lao brought Mo Yu and Xiao Yu to the top of a tall tower and slowly explained, "A year ago, a sect named the Profound Lion Sect suddenly rose to prominence on the Northwestern Region and began waging wars of conquest.
"Wherever the Profound Lion Sect went, no one could stand against them. In less than half a year, nearly half of the Northwestern Region had fallen under their control."
"The Profound Lion Sect..." Hearing this name, Mo Yu's suspicions deepened.
Seeing Mo Yu's pensive expression, She Lao continued, "The Profound Lion Sect was originally only one of the top ten sects on the Northwestern Region—not invincible by any means. But this time, their strength has skyrocketed, and many powerful, mysterious figures have joined their ranks."
"It's the Hall of Souls, isn't it?" Mo Yu said solemnly.
She Lao looked at Mo Yu in surprise but then nodded. "Indeed. According to the intelligence we received, many strong individuals from the Hall of Souls have appeared within the Profound Lion Sect, and they've been aggressively collecting souls.
"As for why they chose the Northwestern Region, it's likely because the region is remote and less likely to attract attention."
"Damn the Hall of Souls..." Mo Yu cursed, anger simmering beneath his calm exterior despite being familiar with their despicable methods.
"The chaos in the Northwestern Region has allowed the Profound Lion Sect to continue expanding their territory. Wherever they go, those who refuse to submit are exterminated entirely—sect and nation alike. This has undoubtedly sped up the Hall of Souls' soul-gathering efforts.
"While their supply lacks quality, they make up for it in sheer quantity," She Lao explained, glancing at Mo Yu.
"Fortunately, Cai Lin has proven herself capable. Over the years, she has strengthened the Serpent Empire significantly, making it one of the top five forces on the Northwestern Region.
"Additionally, the Yan Alliance led by the Xiao Clan is also formidable. Together, the two forces have barely managed to prevent the complete collapse of the Northwestern Region."
"However, in recent months, the territories of both the Yan Alliance and the Serpent Empire have shrunk considerably. They've barely maintained their borders. That was when we received this information.
"After learning of this, Xiao Yixian and the others immediately set out for the Serpent Empire, knowing how much Cai Lin means to you.
"I also dispatched some Yuan Manor experts to accompany them. But honestly, it may still be difficult to turn the tide."
Mo Yu nodded slightly, his brows furrowing. "It seems I must return as well."
First, Cai Lin was not only his woman but also a vital figure in the Snake-people clan, which was She Lao's Clan. They could not be abandoned. Second, the Hall of Souls had gathered an immense amount of soul energy—something Mo Yu could use to nurture the Black Lotus Soul Thunder he had been struggling to develop.
"So much soul energy cannot be allowed to fall into the hands of the Hall of Souls," he thought.
She Lao nodded in agreement. "Indeed. For this trip to the Northwestern Region, it's best to bring elders whose strength has reached at least the Three-Star Dou Zun level. As for Yuan Manor, I, along with Qing Zhi, will remain to guard it. This way, we won't risk falling into a trap like the Hall of Souls' tiger-luring-the-mountain strategy."
Mo Yu agreed with the plan, finding it reasonable.
"As for your departure, don't rush. The distance between Central Plains and the Northwestern Region is vast. If you were to fly, it would take over two months. Therefore, you must construct a spatial wormhole," She Lao added.
Hearing this, Mo Yu paused but then nodded.
While creating a spatial wormhole required at least a Dou Zun expert, constructing one that spanned the immense distance from Central Plains to the Northwestern Region was no trivial task. However, She Lao was a Ban Sheng, making it feasible.
With a spatial channel to the Northwestern Region established, future travel between the two regions would become far more convenient.
"If I'm not mistaken, the Falling Star Pavilion will also send reinforcements to aid the Yan Alliance. Most likely, the one leading them will be your cousin, Xiao Yan. Together, you two should have no trouble cutting off the Hall of Souls' extended reach," She Lao said with a chuckle.
"Ha! To think I'd team up with my cousin Xiao Yan once more after all these years—this time on the Northwestern Region," Mo Yu laughed, his eyes glinting with nostalgia.
The last time he and Xiao Yan had joined forces was during their chaotic rebellion against the Yun Lan Sect. Time had flown since then; it had been years.
Back then, Mo Yu and Xiao Yan were just sixteen or seventeen—young, reckless youths. In the blink of an eye, a decade had passed, and both had grown into prominent figures in their respective domains.
"If Yun Shan, the Yun Lan Sect's leader, were to resurrect and see this scene, I wonder if he'd regret not eliminating us earlier—or regret provoking such formidable adversaries," Mo Yu thought with a chuckle.
"By the way, a few promising talents have emerged within Yuan Manor. If you're interested, you might consider taking them as disciples. Since you're rarely present in the manor, having disciples would help reinforce your presence," She Lao suggested.
"Taking disciples?" Mo Yu was momentarily taken aback but quickly understood the reasoning behind the proposal.
Yuan Manor had grown increasingly vast, with its older members making up only a small fraction of the population. Newcomers accounted for nearly seventy percent.
Mo Yu's prolonged absences meant that many elders and disciples had never even seen him. Although his strength and reputation made his authority unquestionable, such prolonged detachment could have subtle consequences.
Power, if not occupied, would naturally be taken by others.
Since Mo Yu couldn't remain in Yuan Manor permanently, and She Lao, as a Ban Sheng, couldn't manage every detail, accepting a few disciples could address this issue.
As Mo Yu's direct disciples, they would be naturally recognized as extensions of his authority, representing him even in his absence.
"Alright, She Lao, let's take a look at these promising talents," Mo Yu said with a light smile after some thought.
Hearing this, Xiao Yu smiled quietly. She hadn't expected that the boy from Wu Tan City had reached a point where he could take disciples of his own.
…
In the Yuan Manor hall, Mo Yu looked at the two young men and one young woman standing before him with a faint smile. "Introduce yourselves," he said.
As he spoke, Mo Yu's gaze swept over the three individuals.
The young man on the left had a simple, honest appearance and a tall, sturdy build. Despite his demeanor, his strength had reached the Three-Star Dou Wang level.
The young man on the right, in contrast, appeared cold and unsmiling. His strength surpassed the first, having reached the Five-Star Dou Wang level.
In the center stood a girl in green robes. Though she still had a youthful look, she was undoubtedly a stunning beauty in the making. When she grew up, she would undoubtedly captivate countless men willing to risk everything for her.
Her strength was equally impressive. At just under seventeen years old, she had already reached the Three-Star Dou Wang level—remarkable achievements for her age, even across the Central Plains.
With sufficient time, these three individuals would likely achieve greatness.
"Disciple... Disciple Huang Tu," the honest-looking young man stammered nervously.
"Disciple Xuanwo Zhu," the aloof young man glanced at Mo Yu twice and said respectfully.
"Disciple Xiang Lin," the young girl in green clothing blushed and mustered her courage to speak.
"Hmm…" Upon hearing their introductions, Mo Yu nodded. Thanks to She Lao's intelligence, he was already familiar with their backgrounds.
Furthermore, he knew that although these three were exceptionally talented, they had no significant backing. They all came from minor clans, and Xuanwo Zhu, in particular, had experienced the annihilation of his clan, leaving him the sole survivor.
This meant that if Mo Yu took them under his wing, they would undoubtedly become his and Yuan Manor's loyal confidants.
Thinking of this, Mo Yu couldn't help but admire She Lao's thorough preparations. He trusted She Lao had already assessed their characters, leaving no room for hesitation.
"Do you three wish to become my disciples?" Mo Yu looked at them directly.
He had no objections to taking on disciples, especially when they were top-tier talents. With a little training, they could become his reliable aides.
After all, not everyone would end up like Han Feng, betraying their master.
"Ah…" Hearing Mo Yu's words, the three young disciples were taken aback, surprise flashing across their faces.
Although they had addressed themselves as disciples earlier, it was merely a customary title used by Yuan Manor's younger generation to address Mo Yu as their leader. Now, Mo Yu's intention to officially take them as disciples left them momentarily stunned.
For them, Mo Yu's status in Yuan Manor was akin to that of a god.
After a brief moment of shock, Xuanwo Zhu's eyes lit up, and he quickly responded, "This disciple is willing!"
Mo Yu was slightly startled but then narrowed his eyes. He could tell that although Xuanwo Zhu was young, he was the most calculating of the three.
Recalling the blood feud behind Xuanwo Zhu's calm exterior, Mo Yu nodded in understanding. After all, anyone who had experienced the destruction of their clan would inevitably undergo a drastic change in personality.
This made Xuanwo Zhu the most promising of the three.
Seeing Xuanwo Zhu's swift agreement, Huang Tu and Xiang Lin quickly snapped out of their daze and exclaimed, "This disciple is willing!"
Becoming Mo Yu's disciple was the dream of every young member of Yuan Manor. Now that this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity had come, who would refuse? Why would they refuse?
"Good. From today on, I am your master." Mo Yu nodded and continued, "Huang Tu, you will be the eldest disciple. Xuanwo Zhu, you will be the second disciple. Xiang Lin, you will be the youngest disciple. Understood?"
"Yes, Master!" The three responded in unison, their expressions varying.
Huang Tu patted his chest with a hearty smile. Xuanwo Zhu, always cold and aloof, frowned slightly at being ranked second but relaxed upon seeing Huang Tu's infectious grin. His expression softened with faint joy.
Meanwhile, Xiang Lin pouted slightly at being the youngest but refrained from voicing her thoughts under Mo Yu's stern gaze.
Seeing this, Mo Yu shook his head slightly. His three disciples indeed had distinctly different personalities.
"This is your gift for becoming my disciples. Your task now is to use the resources in these rings to improve your strength. If there's nothing else, you may leave." As he spoke, Mo Yu tossed each of them a storage ring.
Huang Tu, Xuanwo Zhu, and Xiang Lin had earth, lightning, and wind attributes, respectively. Mo Yu prepared a high-grade Di Class technique suited to each of their elements, along with various cultivation resources.
For Xuanwo Zhu, in particular, Mo Yu added a sub-thunder of True Origin Devouring Thunder due to his potential and lightning affinity.
"Thank you, Master!"
Examining the valuable treasures in their rings, the three disciples' faces lit up with joy, and they thanked Mo Yu sincerely.
"No need for formality between master and disciple…" Mo Yu chuckled and waved them off, letting them leave.
For the next half month, Mo Yu found himself busy with his new role as a master, leaving him little free time. Fortunately, the three disciples progressed rapidly, and the bond between master and disciples grew stronger.
Just as Mo Yu was getting used to this new life, good news arrived—the spatial wormhole connecting Yuan Manor to the northwest continent had been repaired.
When Mo Yu arrived at the mountain behind Yuan City, a dark spatial hole about ten zhang wide was slowly forming on a stone platform at the mountain peak. A violent spatial force surged from within, rippling out into the surrounding area.
"She Lao, it's a success?" Mo Yu appeared near the wormhole, his face lighting up with joy as he addressed the elegant figure ahead.
"Indeed." She Lao smiled and nodded. Turning to Mo Yu, he asked, "How are the two boys and the girl?"
"Heh, they're excellent. In three to five years, they'll become the backbone of Yuan Manor," Mo Yu replied with a grin.
"Good," She Lao nodded with satisfaction. Once Huang Tu and the others matured, Yuan Manor's authority would be solidified even if Mo Yu was absent.
"Everyone, are you ready?" After exchanging words with She Lao, Mo Yu turned to the twenty figures behind him.
Each exuded the aura of a Dou Zun, with the strongest nearing eight-star strength. This was half of Yuan Manor's core strength. Mo Yu wouldn't have dared to mobilize them if She Lao and Qing Zhi weren't holding down the fort.
"Rest assured, Manor Lord. A mere barbarian faction is nothing to fear," the elders replied respectfully.
Satisfied, Mo Yu nodded and turned to She Lao. "Let's go."
As everyone prepared themselves, She Lao took a step forward, gently waving his sleeve.
The wormhole atop the mountain began to tremble violently. A surge of violent spatial energy spread outward, accompanied by deep, thunderous sounds emanating from within, echoing through the surrounding skies.
The wormhole started spinning, releasing faint suction forces into the air.
"Mo Yu, here is the wormhole scroll. The coordinates on the other side are yet to be fixed. Once you arrive, find a safe location and tear it open. It will form a permanent gateway connected to this spot."
With a flick of his finger, She Lao sent a black scroll imbued with terrifying spatial energy toward Mo Yu.
Mo Yu nodded, placing the scroll into his beast ring before gazing at the rotating wormhole. With a wave of his hand, he called out, "Let's move!"
With that, Mo Yu transformed into a silver streak, flying straight into the dark wormhole. Behind him, twenty powerful figures followed closely…
