Chapter 2 - Reincarnation

Aiden stirred awake, but something was… off. His body didn't feel solid. No bones, no muscles, no skin. Instead, he felt like… liquid.

He tried to move—instinctively reaching for arms that weren't there—but all he managed was a strange wobbling motion, like a blob of jelly bouncing against the ground.

"…Oh, hell. I really did reincarnate."

Then, a voice echoed crisply inside his head:

["Affirmative."]

Aiden froze—well, as much as a slime could freeze—and his gelatinous form quivered nervously. "Wait… Great Sage? Is that you?"

["Affirmative."]

Relief and dread mixed in Aiden's voice. "…Well, that explains a lot. Uh, quick question—what color slime am I?"

["Yellow."]

Aiden paused. His thoughts spun like a broken hard drive. "…Yellow? What the hell does that even mean? I know green slimes are acidic, red ones are aggressive, blue are the basic default, black is usually earth or poison… but yellow?"

He dug into his half-buried gamer knowledge, his blob-body twitching as he thought. "…Wait. The only yellow slime I know is from Genshin Impact."

["Correct. The yellow coloration denotes affinity with electro-based energy, similar to electro slimes in the world of Genshin Impact."]

Aiden's body wobbled again, this time in something like a chuckle. "Great. Just what I needed—anime slime logic meets gacha game logic. Rimuru wasn't a normal slime, so why am I yellow?"

["Answer: because of your yellow hair in your previous life."]

Aiden went completely still. "…So you're telling me… I'm a literal blob of hair-color-coded lightning jelly?"

["Affirmative."]

"…Goddammit."

Aiden tried to concentrate on the voice, his thoughts bouncing faster than his slime body. "Alright, step one—vision. Can you help me see? Because right now I feel like I'm trapped in a jar of ink."

["Processing request. Activating: Enhanced Vision."]

In an instant, the suffocating darkness peeled away. A warm, glowing light spread across his awareness, as if someone had swapped the filter from "pitch black" to "magical screensaver." His surroundings shimmered in hues of blue and green, faint runic motes dancing like fireflies.

Aiden wobbled forward, taking in the view. The walls pulsed faintly with energy, the ground itself radiating a subtle hum that sent tingles through his slime-body.

"So… I'm in a cave," Aiden muttered, half a question, half a resigned statement.

["Affirmative."]

He shifted again, bouncing against the rocky floor. The air buzzed, alive with something he couldn't quite name. "Why does it feel so… magical? Like I just walked into a Skyrim dungeon, but someone set the magic slider to max."

["Scanning…"]

A pause, then the voice returned with cold precision:

["Answer: This cave contains the presence of two divine beings. One is dormant. The other is sealed. Their residual energy saturates the environment, producing extreme concentrations of magicules."]

Aiden froze mid-bounce. "…I'm sorry, did you just casually say gods are here? As in plural? Sleeping and sealed? In the same cave as me?"

["Affirmative."]

Aiden's slime-body jittered in a nervous shiver. "…Oh, fantastic. First day in a hentai apocalypse world, and I'm living next door to divine squatters. Perfect start."

Aiden jiggled in place, bouncing experimentally against the stone floor before finally asking the one question gnawing at him. "Alright, Great Sage, quick lore dump. What's the deal with this Grand Guardian skill? Rimuru didn't have it, and I know I sure as hell didn't see that in the wiki."

["Processing… Explanation available."]

A pause, then the voice of Great Sage rang in his mind, calm and absolute:

["Unique Skill: Grand Guardian — A skill born from the host's final wish to protect others, fused with the divine authority granted during reincarnation. Functionality is as follows:

— Absolute Defense: Automatically deploys barriers to intercept any physical or magical attack directed at the host or designated allies.

— Shared Vitality: Allows the host to transfer regenerative capabilities to others within range.

— Guardian's Wrath: The stronger the intent to protect, the more destructive the counter-attack becomes.

— Soul Bond: Enables permanent protective links with chosen individuals, ensuring their survival so long as the host exists."]

Aiden blinked—or, well, imagined blinking, since slimes didn't really have eyelids. "...So basically, I got the cheat code for being the world's most overprotective boyfriend-slash-husband?"

["Affirmative."]

He wobbled in silence for a few seconds, processing. Then he let out something between a sigh and a laugh. "Great. Just great. I'm a lightning slime with a god-tier overprotective complex baked into my DNA. Radomira's going to roast me alive when she finds out I literally can't stop myself from protecting her."

The cave's magical hum pulsed faintly, almost like it was laughing with him.

Aiden's slime-body trembled, his core pulsing erratically as the memory of Radomira's last moments crashed over him. "Radomira…" His voice was a whisper in his mind. "I couldn't protect you… I watched you fall… I failed you."

He shook violently, forcing himself to steel his resolve. "Wherever you are, I hope you're safe, I hope you're happy—"

["Processing Request."]

Aiden stilled. "…Wait, what request?"

["Locating soul: Radomira. Result: her soul has also reincarnated into this world."]

For a moment, silence. Then Aiden's entire body spasmed, sparking with stray arcs of yellow lightning. "No. No. No, no, no, no, no, NO!" His voice cracked with desperation. "Any world but this one! Not Kuroinu! This place—this isn't a place for her! Not my sweet Radomira!"

["Affirmative."]

"Great Sage!" Aiden shouted, his core blazing with frantic energy. "Activate Grand Guardian! Right now! Lock on to her soul, I don't care where she is—I want her under my protection, no matter what it takes!"

The system's voice rang out, sharp and final:

["Command accepted. Soul Bond established. Target: Radomira. Location: Confidential. Protection: Active."]

A golden ripple surged through his slime body, like the echo of an unbreakable vow.

Aiden sagged with relief, though his thoughts were heavy. "Radomira… I don't care if this world's hell. I'll burn it down, rip it apart, or twist it until it's safe. I won't fail you again. Not here. Not ever."

The cave hummed louder, as if the world itself had acknowledged his oath.

Aiden sighed, his voice low with concern.

"I hope she's okay now."

["Host, Radomira's new body isn't exactly… human."]

Aiden blinked—or rather, imagined blinking in his current form.

"So… Demi-human?"

["…Let's say that."]

---

Meanwhile, deeper within the same cavernous dungeon, a breathtaking figure rested. A woman of overwhelming charm, her beauty carried an almost dangerous allure. Her curvaceous body and pale, porcelain skin shimmered faintly in the dim light, reflecting like moonlight on water. She had impossibly long hair—shifting between shades of purple and magenta—that cascaded across the ground like a living river. From her back spread a pair of crow-like wings as dark as midnight, while curved gray horns adorned her head. A crimson jewel glimmered faintly on her forehead, matching the seductive glow of her eyeshadow.

[Insert image of Radomira]

She lay upon a giant leaf floating over a still underground lake, her chest rising and falling softly in sleep. As she stirred, a faint golden light pulsed across her body. Her eyelids fluttered open, revealing sharp yellow irises that cut through the darkness.

"Strange… what's this power?" she murmured, her voice husky from slumber.

With a lazy stretch, her wings rustled, scattering droplets of water into the glowing air. She yawned, then muttered to herself, half-asleep still:

"Has Aiden been reborn yet? …If not, then I'm going back to sleep."

---

It was almost comedic, in a cruel cosmic way. Neither of them realized they shared the same cavern. Aiden had no clue that his girlfriend had been reborn as Radomira, the succubus goddess of Kuroinu—nor did Radomira realize her beloved was only a short distance away, stumbling through the underground flora.

---

Back with Aiden, he sighed softly, the tension leaving his mind. Even without proof, something deep inside assured him his girlfriend was safe, wherever she was. That thought alone was enough to steady him.

Shuffling forward, his senses brushed against clusters of strange plants sprouting out of the cavern floor. His instincts sparked.

"Wait… is this what I think it is?"

["Affirmative. This universe's variant of Hipokute Herbs has been identified."]

For a moment, Aiden's imagined face lit up with a grin.

"Well, you know what that means… time to eat—and make potions using Predator."

Aiden crouched low, brushing his hand along the leafy stems. The faint shimmer of the herb told him everything—this was powerful stuff, brimming with natural magicules.

"Alright, Predator, do your thing."

["Activating Predator."]

The herbs dissolved into motes of light, pulled into his body. A flood of information streamed through his mind—recipes, effects, and applications.

["Processing… Hipokute Herb: usable as raw salve, healing potion, or enhanced regeneration elixir. Compatibility: 98%. Prototype potion creation possible."]

Aiden chuckled. "So I can basically speedrun potion-making? Rimuru would be jealous."

He focused, letting the Great Sage guide the refinement. A soft glow built in his chest, then surged outward. Before him, small vials of shimmering green liquid materialized, radiating vitality.

["Three Minor Healing Potions created. Efficiency: moderate. Recommended continued absorption for greater yields."]

Aiden picked one up and swirled it, watching the liquid catch the cavern light. "Perfect. First step toward survival… done."

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the same cavern…

Radomira shifted on her leaf-bed, golden light still faintly pulsing across her skin. She sat upright, her wings rustling as her yellow irises narrowed.

"Strange… I can sense a stirring, a predator's aura… but it feels familiar. Comforting, almost."

She tilted her head, lips curling into a small smile. "Aiden…? No, impossible. He wouldn't be here… right?"

Her heart fluttered, though. For the first time in centuries, she didn't feel alone.

Meanwhile, back with Aiden—

He observed the glowing fields of Hipokute Herbs around him. There were far more than he remembered from canon, enough to fill a warehouse. He grinned inwardly.

"Guess this place really is my starter zone. Perfect."

Using Predator, he carefully created a handful of seeds from the herbs. "These will come in handy later. I'll plant them once I join Emilia… can't let the rebellion run out of healing supplies."

After securing the herbs, his gaze shifted toward the glimmering veins of Magistone Ore embedded in the cavern walls. Without hesitation, he absorbed the ore into his body, feeling raw energy and dense mana coursing through him. "Weapons, gear, enchantments… yeah, this cave is basically a resource hall. I'm not leaving empty-handed."

["Warning: multiple hostile signatures detected."]

Aiden's focus sharpened as Great Sage highlighted several powerful monsters. He smirked. "Well, can't leave without testing my strength, right? Let's hunt."

First Encounter: The Black Serpent

From the underground lake, a massive serpent lunged, scales glistening. Aiden responded instantly, conjuring a Water Blade and lacing it with Lightning. The strike cut through the serpent's body, electrocuting it in the water.

["Predator activated."]

["Skills acquired: Poisonous Breath, Sense Heat Source, Black Serpent Mimicry."]

"Not bad. Vision mode upgrade, check. Acidic breath weapon, check. Rimuru would be proud."

Second Encounter: Armorsaurus

A colossal beast with scales harder than steel charged him. Aiden shifted into Black Serpent mimicry, wrapping his body around the dinosaur-like monster and constricting it. With a violent crush, the beast fell.

["Skill acquired: Body Armour."]

"Oh yeah, that's gonna save my slime butt later."

Third Encounter: Evil Centipede

The monstrous insect lunged at him, mandibles dripping venom. Aiden didn't even hesitate—he unleashed a Lightning Strike, frying the creature in an instant.

["Skill acquired: Paralysis Breath."]

"Ohhh, that's dirty. Gonna enjoy this one."

Fourth Encounter: Black Spider

The hulking arachnid descended from the cavern ceiling. Aiden fused his Lightning with Water Blade, crafting a razor-thin Water Cutter charged with electricity. It sliced the spider clean in half, leaving its body cooked golden-brown.

["Skills acquired: Sticky Threads, Steel Thread."]

"Spider-Man would kill for this combo."

Fifth Encounter: Giant Bat

The bat screeched, unleashing a sonic wave. Aiden matched it with his own Lightning-enhanced roar, then finished it with a precise strike.

["Skills acquired: Drain, Ultrasonic Wave."]

"Mana leeching and echolocation? Yeah, I'm keeping this."

Final Encounter: Hippogriff

Unlike the others, this wasn't in Rimuru's path. A magnificent yet terrifying beast—a hybrid of eagle and horse—soared overhead, wings crackling with magicules.

"Now that's a boss fight!"

The battle was fierce. The Hippogriff resisted his lightning, forcing Aiden to combine Steel Threads with high-voltage bursts, binding the beast midair. With a final surge, he overloaded its body until it collapsed.

["Skills acquired: Aerokinesis, Flight."]

Aiden froze. "…Wait. Flight? How does that even work when I'm a slime?"

Great Sage responded instantly.

["By generating electrostatic fields in combination with air manipulation, host can achieve levitation and controlled aerial movement."]

Aiden just laughed. "So basically, I'm a balloon with wings. Got it"

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the cavern, Radomira stirred from her rest. Once every decade she would make her rounds, ensuring the balance of the sealed dungeon remained undisturbed. Stretching her wings, she drifted through the shadows, her presence radiating divine authority.

But this time something was… different.

Radomira frowned as she passed through the corridors. Corpses littered the ground—serpents, insects, beasts, all freshly slain. Her claws lightly tapped against her arm as she inspected the carnage.

"Strange… none of these creatures were mine, yet someone has been hunting them systematically."

Her gaze softened as she approached the hidden nesting grounds. Rows of glowing eggs lay untouched, shimmering with the pulse of unborn life. Relief spread across her face, and she let out a long breath.

"At least the little ones remain safe."

Still, confusion gnawed at her. She spread her senses, wings unfurling wide, divine perception combing through the magicules of the dungeon.

"Impossible…" she muttered aloud, eyes narrowing. "This place has been sealed for centuries. None should be able to enter. The only beings here are myself… and that other god."

Her lips curved into a smirk, though her golden irises glimmered with curiosity rather than malice.

"Then who—or what—is daring enough to trespass in my den?"

These beasts had never been her pets, no—Radomira was far above such mortal bonds. But their ancestors, and their ancestors before them, had roamed this dungeon since she first awoke here. For centuries, their presence had been her only company in this sealed prison. She had watched them live, hunt, nest, and die, generation after generation.

And now… someone had dared to slaughter them.

Radomira's teeth clenched, her claws flexing as dark violet sparks danced across her wings. Her fury only grew as she wandered deeper, until her gaze fell upon a lush garden of Hipokute Herbs. The sacred leaves swayed gently, their vibrant glow filling the cavern.

At first, she felt a flicker of relief—until she noticed it. A patch disturbed. The aura weakened. The magicules uneven. Someone had been feeding here, stealing from her sacred garden.

Her golden eyes widened, and then—

"WHO DARES?!"

Her voice thundered through the cavern, shaking stone and sending frightened eggs trembling in their nests. The cry was not just anger—it was heartbreak, betrayal, and the fury of a goddess denied her solace.

The cave fell into silence again, save for the echo of her scream reverberating like a curse.

Meanwhile, on the far side of the cavern, Aiden froze mid-slither. The thunderous scream shook the very walls, echoing like divine wrath through every crack of stone.

"Um… Great Sage," he muttered, trying to sound calm but wobbling like jelly. "Did I just… piss off someone?"

[Affirmative,] the voice replied with cold precision. [You have angered the sleeping god within this dungeon.]

Aiden's whole body rippled, almost like a slime-shaped sweat drop was sliding down his side. "…Oops."
