Chapter 3 - Inferno Wolfs

Aiden then quickly ran. As he did, he crashed into something. He saw a pack of wolf-like monsters. They had a jaget Metal horns, with fur being dark blue. The males had a lower white, and the females all had Dark Blue fur, red eyes looked down at Aiden

Aiden just spoke in his head. "Um, Great Sage, what are these?"

["Analysis Completed: They are inferno Wolfs"]

Aiden, just imagine blinking. "Inferno Wolfs, why are they called in-"

He was cut off, as he had to jump away, as they breathed fire at him, as then their bodies lit up with Orange and Red flames, and the biggest one has Blue Flames.

Aiden nearly jiggled out of his slime body as he dodged the incoming fireball, landing with a splat against the stone floor. The heat singed the air around him, the wolves snarling, their horns glowing faintly as sparks crackled at the tips.

"Right," Aiden muttered in panic. "That's why they're called Inferno Wolves. Because they literally spit hellfire!"

[Correction: Their true strength lies in their ability to ignite their entire bodies in flame. The alpha, designated 'Blue Inferno,' is capable of producing temperatures exceeding—]

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, thanks for the encyclopedia, Sage!" Aiden cut in, bouncing backward as another wolf lunged at him. "I'd really love some 'how not to die' advice right about now!"

The pack fanned out, encircling him, their eyes glowing red like molten embers. The alpha stepped forward, its blue flames licking the air, radiating oppressive heat. The ground itself began to char under its paws.

Aiden gulped, or at least mimicked the action in slime form. "…Of course I had to piss off the sleeping goddess and stumble into a Dark Souls boss fight. Perfect."

All the inferno wolf fired at Aiden, Aiden just jumped, as all the fire came, he closed his imaginary eye's, but then he opend he saw a Golden Shield just block the attack, as Grand Guardian Activated.

The golden shield shimmered faintly before fading, the echoes of the wolves' flames still dancing across the cavern walls. Aiden wobbled slightly in place, staring at the glowing remnants.

"Right… forgot about the cheat code," he muttered, still half in disbelief. "Grand Guardian, MVP."

The pack growled low, circling tighter, but then the alpha stopped. Its blue flames dimmed slightly as its crimson gaze locked onto Aiden. A voice thundered in his mind, deep and commanding.

"Slime… you are different. Why have you trespassed into my territory?"

Aiden froze. His nonexistent jaw dropped. "Wait—hold on. Did you just… talk? No, no, wait. You didn't even move your mouth." He bounced once in disbelief. "Great Sage, explain!"

[Answer: The Inferno Wolf Alpha is communicating through limited telepathy. This ability is shared across their kin but rarely used on non-wolves.]

Aiden muttered to himself, "Great… so now I'm playing Pokémon with fire-breathing dogs who can mind chat. What's next, they evolve?"

The alpha's flames surged brighter at his insolence. "Answer me, slime. Why are you here, desecrating the lands of fire?"

Aiden shifted uncomfortably, his slime form wobbling as the Alpha's presence pressed down on him.

"Hey, listen," he said quickly, "I came here by accident, okay? Wrong cave, wrong time. No need for the whole fire-and-brimstone routine."

The Alpha's massive paws echoed as it circled him, blue flames rippling across its fur. Its pack fanned out, their growls rumbling through the cavern.

"An accident, you claim? My kin report a slime devouring monsters, stealing their power. You slaughter, then consume. Tell me, slime… was that also an accident?"

Aiden winced. "Alright, technically true, but let's not use scary words like slaughter. I call it—uh—recycling."

The Alpha's eyes narrowed, its telepathic voice rumbling like thunder.

"Recycling, you say… by eating serpents, spiders, bats… and now even the Hippogriff that guarded these caverns?"

Aiden stammered. "...Okay, fine, that one was a little on me." He sighed. "Look, I wasn't trying to pick a fight with your whole neighborhood watch. I just needed resources. Potions, metal, you know—slime stuff."

The Alpha's flames flared, the heat making the cave shimmer. "Words alone will not save you, intruder. Prove your strength—or be consumed by fire."

The pack moved as one, fire erupting from their maws. Streams of orange, red, and even the Alpha's blistering blue flames converged on Aiden, painting the cavern in searing light.

Aiden braced himself, expecting pain—but instead, the fire simply washed over him, dispersing harmlessly against a shimmering golden shield. The Grand Guardian skill flared, absorbing the inferno.

"...Oh, right," Aiden muttered, almost sheepish. "Flame resistance plus Guardian. Guess you guys are out of luck on that front."

The wolves froze mid-attack, confusion sparking in their glowing red eyes. Their flames should have reduced any intruder to ash, yet the slime stood unscathed, not even steaming.

The Alpha snarled, blue fire dancing hotter across its fur. "Impossible. Nothing endures our flame."

Aiden tilted his gelatinous form, almost as if shrugging. "Well, you're looking at an exception. So how about we call this a draw and—"

Before he could finish, two wolves lunged from opposite sides, fangs bared and claws glowing with heat. Instinct kicked in; Aiden extended Steel Threads, whipping them out like glowing wires. The threads snagged the wolves mid-air, yanking them to the ground with a crack.

He winced. "Didn't mean to go that hard."

The Alpha growled, eyes narrowing as it stepped closer, muscles tensing for a charge. The rest of the pack closed in, circling him tighter.

Aiden steadied himself. "I really didn't want to fight you guys… but if it's survive or die—then sorry, pups, I'm not planning on dying today."

The Alpha's flames flared brighter than ever, the cavern shaking from its roar. "Then prove it, slime. Show us why you still stand!"

Aiden looked at them as he spoke. "I guess Trial by Fire? Not like it's gonna hurt me"

The Alpha's flames roared higher, shifting from blazing blue to violet, crackling with arcs of lightning that snapped across the cavern. The air itself seemed to vibrate with the surge of heat and electricity.

"Very well," the Alpha rumbled, its voice reverberating inside Aiden's mind. "Let us begin."

And then it moved.

Aiden barely had time to react—the Alpha blurred, moving with terrifying speed, its violet flames leaving streaks of afterimages. It was like being attacked by living thunder.

"Shit!" Aiden shot out Sticky Threads, latching onto the cavern wall and yanking himself out of the Alpha's path just as it blurred past. The impact cracked the stone, violet fire searing the rock.

Swinging himself up, Aiden clung to the wall with threads and muttered inside his head, "Okay, the hell? Purple flames? Fire mixed with lightning? That's not fair!"

The Alpha whipped its head toward him, violet eyes gleaming through the haze. Sparks danced around its horn as it prepared another charge. "Your resistance means nothing. My flames devour both heat and lightning."

Aiden steadied himself, trying to sound braver than he felt. "Cute trick. But lightning's kind of my thing too."

He focused, compressing his own Electro affinity into a surge of crackling energy, lacing it along a Water Blade. With a swing, he hurled it downward at the Alpha—a spinning crescent of water charged with electricity.

The Alpha countered with a snarl, exhaling a cone of violet fire. The two elements collided midair, exploding into a storm of steam and sparks that blasted through the cavern.

The pack howled from the sidelines, forming a fiery circle around the duel.

Aiden flexed his slime form, already planning his next move. "Alright… guess this one's not just about survival anymore. If I win, maybe I'll earn myself some respect."

Aiden zipped across the cavern, threads latching onto rock and jutting stone like anchor points. Every time the Alpha lunged, violet flames crackling with lightning in its maw, Aiden darted away, hurling arcs of his own lightning in return.

Bzzt! Crack! Sparks danced across the wolf's hide, but the beast barely flinched—its fur shimmered with natural resistance.

The Alpha growled, eyes narrowing. "You fight like prey trying to stall for time. What are you planning, slime?"

Aiden didn't answer, keeping his movements erratic, weaving between stone pillars. Each dodge, each leap left another strand behind, sticky threads weaving an invisible lattice across the battlefield. His hands buzzed faintly with charge as he fed energy into the threads themselves.

The Alpha reared back, flames shifting to a deeper, violent purple. It inhaled, the cavern trembling with heat.

Aiden's eyes widened. "That's not good—"

A storm of violet fire roared forth, obliterating half the cavern wall. The shockwave flung Aiden into a rock face, his golden shield shimmering under the blow.

But when the flames cleared, the Alpha paused. Its paws tugged faintly at the ground. Its legs brushed something thin, unseen.

Threads.

Dozens. Hundreds.

All around it.

Aiden rose from the rubble, eyes glowing faintly. He smirked.

"Got you."

The Alpha's body twitched as the last sparks faded, smoke rising faintly from his fur. His once-blazing violet flames sputtered out, leaving only the raw, primal strength in his eyes.

He growled low, chest heaving, then spoke with a grave finality.

"Very well… end me."

Aiden stood still, breathing hard, watching the wolf's massive form straining against the glowing threads. His shield still flickered faintly, but his expression softened.

"Hey," Aiden said firmly, shaking his head. "I didn't come here to kill you. It was a mistake that I even ended up here. So yeah—no ending, no killing."

For a moment, silence filled the cavern. The pack of lesser wolves bristled, flames wavering as if waiting for their Alpha's command.

The Alpha blinked, stunned. Slowly, Aiden reached out with his threads, unraveling the trap. The bindings slackened, slipping away until the great beast was free again.

The Alpha landed on all fours with a heavy thud, but instead of attacking, he lowered his head. His burning eyes met Aiden's, and then—to the shock of the pack—he kneeled.

"Very well," the Alpha rumbled, voice deep and solemn. "You have earned my trust. From this day forward… we, the Inferno Wolves, shall serve you. At least—my pack will."

Gasps and growls of surprise echoed from the surrounding wolves, but one by one, their flames dimmed in respect, bowing their heads to match their leader.

Aiden blinked, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.

"…Uh, okay. Didn't exactly expect to tame a whole pack of fire wolves today."

The Alpha bowed his massive head, the flames along his fur flickering faintly as if waiting for judgment.

Aiden crossed his slimy arms, thinking to himself.

Do I give him a name? …Hey, Great Sage, does naming work like in the slime anime?

[Affirmative. Naming will establish a soul bond and increase the creature's power. However, it will consume significant magicules from the Host's body.]

Aiden tilted his head. Of course there's a catch. Always a catch. But… he's earned it.

He looked back at the kneeling wolf, whose violet eyes glowed faintly with pride and submission. After a pause, Aiden's voice rang clear.

"Fine. From today, you will be known as Fenrir."

The name struck like a spark across the cavern. The Alpha froze, his body trembling as blue-purple flames surged violently around him. His pack howled in unison, their flames flaring in response to their leader's awakening.

Fenrir roared, a thunderous sound that shook the cave walls, lightning crackling across his newly strengthened form. His aura swelled to the point that even Aiden staggered back, feeling his magicules draining into the bond.

Then, slowly, the energy settled. Fenrir lowered his head again, now radiating a power far greater than before.

"I… Fenrir… pledge my fangs and flames to you, Master."

Aiden wobbled, nearly falling flat on his slime body. "Ughhh… I think I just lost ten years off my lifespan doing that…"

[Correction: Host has lost approximately 32% of current magicule reserves.]

"…Not helping, Sage."

The cavern trembled with the howls of the Inferno Wolves, their flames bursting alive like a field of torches in the dark. Each pair of crimson eyes locked onto Aiden—not with hostility anymore, but with recognition.

Fenrir stood tall, his fur bristling with violet lightning as he turned to his pack.

"From this moment, he is our Alpha. My oath is yours, and so shall be theirs."

The wolves lowered their heads in unison, their flames dimming to a respectful glow. The air itself seemed to shift, no longer hostile but bound by a new pact of loyalty.

Aiden stared, his slime form wobbling nervously. "Uh… so… does this mean I just got adopted into a family of fire-breathing death-dogs?"

[Correction: Host has been acknowledged as Pack Leader. Subordinate monsters will now follow commands instinctively and fight to protect you.]

"…Great. I always wanted a pet, just didn't expect a whole army of them."

The wolves howled again, this time not as a warning, but as a declaration. Their voices echoed through the dungeon, a sound of allegiance so loud that even Radomira, far deeper in the cave, turned her head with narrowed eyes.

Epilogue

Meanwhile, in the white void, Truth and the Dragon of Rebirth watched the threads of fate shift like ripples across an endless sea.

Truth chuckled, flicking his finger so that a little image of Aiden and Fenrir appeared in miniature. "And now he has his own Ranga. The cycle repeats, just with a splash of lightning and bad luck."

The Dragon's eyes narrowed, his vast presence humming through the void. "Fenrir… wolf of the end. Fitting, considering what he's bringing into this world." His gaze lingered as though peering beyond the present. "Chains will break, storms will rise. He treads closer to myths best left untouched."

Truth smirked, leaning back on his invisible throne. "Oh, come on. You're such a downer. I'll put ten divine bucks on this—give him a snake next and he'll call it Jörmungandr."

The Dragon of Rebirth rumbled, half amusement, half warning. "Careful with your wagers. Every name carries weight… and the boy has already started gathering legends around himself."

Truth laughed, sharp and careless. "All the better. Let him pile up legends. Heroes, monsters, gods—it doesn't matter. Watching him trip over myth after myth is my entertainment."

The Dragon's wings unfurled in silent disapproval, yet even he could not deny the spark forming in the void. The wheel had begun to turn, and neither god nor dragon would be able to stop it.
