"That roar, the heartbeat of life"
"The reverberating echo that pierces the skies above and the ground below"
"Go Continental Crush"
These were the iconic lines spoken by Olivia of Akala Island in the Alola Region when using the Z-Move Continental Crush in the anime series.
The first time Chris had heard those words, they had resonated deeply with him.
Standing firmly on the ground while gazing up toward the soaring sky.
The battlefield was suddenly plunged into darkness.
Chris kept his eyes wide open, refusing to blink.
Moments earlier, Chris had channeled the power of his Rock Z-Crystal from himself directly into Aggron. Then he watched in amazement as Aggron leaped impossibly high—reaching a height of one hundred meters—while calling forth massive rocks to envelop its body.
Chris couldn't quite comprehend how Aggron managed to launch itself into the air despite its tremendous weight.
Perhaps this was the true power of Z-Crystals in action?
In an instant, a colossal golden boulder materialized high in the sky.
The golden boulder was enormous enough to easily fill the entire arena, and even the spectator stands beyond. Those unfamiliar with Z-Moves might have mistaken it for a genuine golden meteorite transported from the depths of outer space!
"It feels like a Planetary Devastation," Chris murmured to himself, as a bold and daring idea suddenly formed in his mind. "Perhaps we could try this approach in battle..."
The massive golden boulder began its descent with absolutely terrifying power. The audience members in the stands knew intellectually that energy barriers would protect their safety, but when faced with the golden boulder that completely blocked out the sky above, they still couldn't help feeling genuinely frightened.
"Charizard, we'll use a Z-Move too—Devastating Drake!" Elian gritted his teeth and issued the command.
He hadn't wanted to resort to using a Z-Move under these particular circumstances.
Maintaining Charizard's MEGA Evolution required significant stamina, and executing Z-Moves also demanded considerable energy. However, using a Z-Move while simultaneously maintaining Charizard's MEGA Evolution required far more stamina than using either technique separately.
But if he didn't act now, Mega Charizard X would surely lose.
Elian had no choice but to meet this attack head-on!
Dark green energy erupted from Elian's body and flowed directly into Mega Charizard X's form.
Immediately, a massive black and green dragon materialized on the battlefield.
"Roar!!!" A hysterical roar erupted as the giant dragon spread its wings wide and soared upward, slamming directly into the enormous boulder floating in the sky.
"Boom..."
The dragon collided violently with the boulder.
The explosive sound resembled thunder and earthquakes combined. The power hadn't even fully manifested yet, but the energy barriers protecting the battlefield had already begun trembling from the intense shockwaves!
The audience was no longer afraid—they watched with complete fascination, unable to look away. They eagerly anticipated seeing the final result, wanting to discover whether the giant stone would successfully suppress the dragon, or if the dragon would break through the massive boulder!
The collision didn't keep the audience waiting for long.
The golden boulder overwhelmed the dragon on the battlefield with absolutely unrivaled power.
"Boom..." Another tremendous explosion echoed across the arena.
The entire battlefield seemed to be completely filled by this golden boulder.
There was no need to observe any further to understand the outcome.
When the golden boulder finally shattered and crumbled like sand, Aggron stood proudly before Chris. Its golden body gleamed brilliantly in the sunlight, while the sandstorm that filled the sky acted like an artist's brush, making its armor shine even more brightly.
Charizard had fallen not far in front of Aggron, its eyes showing the telltale spirals of defeat after its MEGA Evolution had ended.
"Charizard is unable to battle! Aggron wins!" the referee decisively announced the battle's result.
"Incredible! Chris's Aggron is amazingly strong! It managed to defeat two Pokemon in a row! I don't think it's any weaker than Mega Garchomp or Mega Gardevoir!"
"Why is this Elite challenge proceeding so differently from what I expected? Shouldn't Elian—the Elite—be teaching Chris, a young trainer, that experience comes with age? Why is the situation completely reversed?"
"Excuse me, I just arrived. Is Chris actually an Elite trainer? Is the trainer named Elian challenging him?"
It was clearly supposed to be an Elite challenge, but the challenger who had taken the early lead by winning two battles in a row was Chris. Such an unexpected turn of events shocked a considerable number of spectators.
"I recall that Aggron isn't even Chris's main Pokemon yet," Roy mentioned, speaking as if talking to himself but also seeming to address his teacher.
Vladimir nodded slightly, though he couldn't be entirely certain.
He had once provided special training for Chris's Pokemon, but that had been quite some time ago.
The original Aggron hadn't been nearly as powerful as it was now.
But considering Chris's Aggron's current strength, it was at least Elite level. If this wasn't even Chris's main Pokemon...
The implications were somewhat frightening.
Observing his teacher's reaction, Roy couldn't help muttering, "It seems that Chris already possesses genuine Elite-level strength. Perhaps we should ask him for some sparring matches..."
On the battlefield, Elian stood somewhat dazed.
Staring at Chris's Aggron, he couldn't understand or believe what had just occurred.
How had Aggron managed to use a Z-Move without performing MEGA Evolution, yet still defeat his own MEGA-evolved Charizard?
This wasn't just about resistance—it was complete and total defeat!
Charizard was also above average within his main team. After MEGA Evolution, it ranked second only to his trump card Pokemon.
How had it lost so thoroughly and decisively?
What made it even more perplexing was that this had been accomplished by a Pokemon that hadn't been well-known in Chris's roster before.
Could it be that Chris's strength had already surpassed an entire rank?
"Whew!" Elian took a deep breath and forced the "unnecessary" thoughts from his mind. He shouldn't be dwelling on this right now.
Charizard had fallen.
This meant that more than half of his Pokemon had been defeated.
In a four-out-of-six format, he only had four Pokemon remaining to rotate, and could only afford to lose two more.
How to handle this situation and how to defeat this particular Aggron were now his primary concerns.
"Should I use my trump card Pokemon? Or..."
He hesitated repeatedly before finally throwing out another Poké Ball.
The Pokemon that appeared on the field was his third team member—Altaria, with Dragon and Flying typing.
Altaria's appearance was somewhat beyond Chris's expectations, since he remembered that Altaria hadn't been part of Elian's main lineup previously.
So this was a new main force in Elian's roster?
"He probably obtained Altaria's MEGA Evolution stone," Chris speculated. Elite-level trainers rarely changed their main lineups unless they acquired something significant like a MEGA Evolution stone, which could justify cultivating a new main team member.
Just as Chris was preparing to face the MEGA Altaria known as the "Dragon Traitor," he heard Elian give an unexpected command.
"Altaria, use Perish Song!"
