Dark musical notes swirled around the battlefield, creating an ominous atmosphere that filled the air. Everyone's eardrums vibrated as they heard the haunting melody - both beautiful and unsettling at the same time.

Perish Song - a move that never misses its target. It can ignore a Pokemon's strength completely and cause any Pokemon to faint directly after a certain period of time, regardless of how powerful they might be.

Such a devastating move naturally comes with severe limitations that make it risky to use.

The effect of Perish Song doesn't target only the opponent's Pokemon, but also affects the user's own Pokemon. This makes it essentially a double-edged sword that can backfire on the trainer who uses it.

Furthermore, once a Pokemon is withdrawn into its Poke Ball, the Perish Song effect that has already taken hold will automatically become invalid and harmless.

In regular six-on-six Pokemon battles where trainers can choose four Pokemon to use, trainers have the opportunity to switch their Pokemon freely during the match. Therefore, unless you have moves like Block or Mean Look to prevent switching, or abilities like Shadow Tag that trap opponents, it becomes nearly impossible for Perish Song to actually take effect and cause a Pokemon to faint.

However, Chris noticed that Elian hadn't commanded his Pokemon to use any moves similar to Block or Mean Look that would prevent Chris from recalling his Pokemon. Chris immediately understood Elian's true strategy - Elian didn't want to switch Pokemon at all. After all, Elian only had two Pokemon remaining while Chris still had four Pokemon left in reserve.

Elian's real goal was simply to force Aggron off the battlefield, nothing more.

Was this a sign that Elian was running out of options?

"Hehe," Chris chuckled quietly to himself.

Elian was essentially admitting in a roundabout way that he couldn't deal with Chris's Aggron effectively.

So that was the real reason for bringing Altaria into battle. Chris had wondered why such an unusual choice had entered Elian's main team lineup.

Unable to find a solution for Aggron, it seemed that Elian's main Pokemon team held no surprises beyond what Chris had already anticipated.

"I wanted to try out a new move I've been thinking about, but forget it. I'll save it for next time," Chris said as he pulled out a Poke Ball to recall Aggron and replace it with a different Pokemon on the field.

Most ordinary spectators in the audience might not be able to see through Elian's underlying tactics and strategy, but it was impossible for the distinguished guests and battle experts watching from the special seating area to miss what Elian was really thinking.

They silently began to rate Chris's overall strength as higher than Elian's in their minds.

They couldn't help but think to themselves: Is Chris's Aggron really that difficult to counter? It actually forced Elian to resort to such desperate tactics!

Seeing Chris make the move to replace his Pokemon, Elian breathed a sigh of relief. He decided not to take the risk of pursuing an aggressive strategy. Instead, he also took out his Poke Ball to recall Altaria, then immediately threw out another Poke Ball.

The second Pokemon Chris sent onto the battlefield was Greninja.

The Poke Ball opened with a flash of light, and water erupted dramatically from within. When the water settled, Greninja stood coolly on the ground with an intimidating presence that commanded respect!

Chris hadn't originally wanted to send Greninja into this particular battle, but he remembered his promise to his teacher. After defeating the Elite, he would publish a research paper about "MEGA" Greninja and its unique properties.

Then it was time to let his precious Pokemon come out and make an appearance, treating this as a warm-up for what was to come.

Over the course of nearly half a year, Chris had already collected enough Greninja with the special "Battle Bond" ability, and had even established a Froakie breeding ranch to study the phenomenon.

It was finally time to "harvest" the results of his research.

The Pokemon that appeared in front of Elian was finally not a dragon-type, but instead a magnificent golden eagle soaring through the air.

Pidgeot! The majestic Normal and Flying-type Pokemon!

This was Elian's Trump Card Pokemon! It was also his very first partner Pokemon from when he began his journey as a trainer.

Elian had been born and raised in the Dragon Nest academy located in the capital city, so logically speaking, both his Trump Card and first partner Pokemon should have been dragon-types.

However, this particular Pidgeot was actually the offspring of his late mother's Trump Card Pokemon. To honor and commemorate his beloved mother's memory, he chose to raise this bird Pokemon that carried "dragon blood" in its lineage.

Later in his career, he managed to obtain Pidgeot's MEGA Evolution stone, which allowed Pidgeot to secure its position as the Trump Card of his team permanently.

Dragon-type Elites who graduated from the prestigious Dragon Nest academy throughout history would often be nicknamed "Flying-type Elites" as a joke, but in Elian's case, he truly lived up to that name.

Seeing that both the trainer and Pokemon on the field had been completely replaced, the audience began to realize what had just happened.

"Wait, is that what just occurred? The Elite Elian sent out Altaria just to force Chris to make a switch?"

"It feels like Elite Elian is actually afraid of that Aggron and its power."

"Not only has Elite Elian fallen into a disadvantageous position in terms of remaining Pokemon numbers, but both the battle situation and the psychological warfare seem to be dominated by Chris..."

"This doesn't look good... Could it be that the youngest Elite in the entire history of China will emerge victorious today?"

Elian didn't pay any attention to the audience's commotion and worried discussions echoing throughout the arena.

Regardless of the fact that he still had two Pokemon remaining, the battle had actually reached its most critical and final moment.

"Pidgeot, MEGA evolve!" Elian called out as he revealed his Key Stone, holding it up for all to see.

Pidgeot, who had been flying gracefully in front of Elian, was immediately surrounded and enveloped by brilliant, multicolored light. Soon, an even larger and more impressive eagle emerged from the radiant glow!

The MEGA evolved Pidgeot had stronger and more streamlined wings, and its body coloration was no longer just the typical yellow-brown, but now featured beautiful shades of pink and bright, lustrous gold. Its sharp, piercing eyes radiated noble golden light, and as it flapped its magnificent wings to soar through the sky, it looked absolutely spectacular!

"That's quite impressive," Chris commented with genuine appreciation, then gave Greninja its instructions. "Alright, let's MEGA evolve as well!"

"Crack!"

Greninja spread its arms wide, and water began flowing rapidly beneath its feet, lifting it up into the sky as the water wrapped around its entire body.

When Greninja let out a deep, resonant growl, the water surrounding it was torn apart dramatically, and a massive Water Shuriken condensed and formed on its back!

Greninja in Chris's Bond Transformation form had appeared on the battlefield!

The entire arena erupted!

When Greninja made its appearance, more than ninety percent of the people in the entire venue stood up from their seats! This included several of the specially invited expert guests and battle analysts.

"What did I just witness?"

"So... that's supposed to be MEGA Greninja?! But does Greninja actually have a MEGA Evolution form?"

"Is that really MEGA Evolution? I didn't see any MEGA Evolution stone on Greninja's body. When it transformed, there wasn't the typical bright light of evolution that we usually see?"

Some spectators were shocked by what they had seen, while others expressed serious doubts about what they had witnessed.

Many people quickly opened their Pokemon Pokedex apps to check for the latest news and information about Greninja and its evolution forms.

Logically speaking, the emergence of Greninja as a new member of the MEGA Evolution family should have been a global sensation and hot topic, and Pokemon Pokedex databases would have been updated immediately with this groundbreaking information.

However, no matter how thoroughly they searched through the Pokedex entries, browsed domestic and international Pokemon news sources, they still couldn't find any information whatsoever about Greninja having a MEGA Evolution form.

"Is this really my junior's MEGA Greninja?" Roy asked as he opened his eyes wide and examined it carefully. Although he hadn't personally watched the battle between Alexis and Chris from the beginning, he had heard Alexis describe the battle process in detail, and Greninja's unique abilities had been well-known to him for quite some time.

"However, it seems like there's no cloth band or MEGA Evolution stone being used here?"

Principal Vladimir also stared intently at Greninja with focused concentration, and replied casually without taking his eyes off the Pokemon: "Who knows for certain? When Chris finishes this important duel, we should hopefully have a clear answer to this mystery."
