There was a house, nestled deep in the woods of Angel Creek that no one dared to enter. A house that was rumoured to be haunted by a vengeful spirit that killed anyone who dared disturb their peace.
"Do we really have to go inside?"
"Yes"
"But why?"
"Because this is the last place were that Garcia kid was last seen."
The occults club stood members stood outside the haunted house, their faces adorned with uncertainty. They had never ventured into a place with the same level of negative energy before and their chance of survival was slim.
"So you're actually willing to let a small child die?"
A girl asked, disappointed by her friends. She had a black afro, heart shaped lips and chocolate brown skin.
They all looked away ashamed. She huffed angrily and started walking up the steps leading into the house. She took one last glance at her three friends, when she realized none of them were willing to step up, she turned the doorknob and disappeared into the house.
The inside was a ghostly as the outside. She made her way towards what seemed to be kitchen, she ran her finger along the kitchen counter and dust had collected on her finger.
"I guessed nobody has been here in a while" she commented and she moved towards the kitchen cabinets.
She opened a few and found nothing.
Her ears perked up when she heard a clattering noise at the far end of the kitchen, she cautiously approached the noise and found a metal bowl repeatedly bumping the wall.
Confused she lifted out the bowl from the ground and a rat scrambled away from there, spooking Blue.
"Shit" she cursed with her hand over her heart.
"Boo!"
She quickly turned around and connected her fist with the threat. A loud 'ow' escaped from the creature and her eyes widened in shock.
She knew that scream.
"Ethan!" she called out his name in shock.
A flashlight shone on her face, exposing her odd electric blue eyes—it was the first thing people noticed about her. Her eyes were like jewels.
Ethan rubbed his chin, pain flashing through his coffee brown eyes. He lifted up his gaze to meet hers. "Did you really have to hit me that hard?" The boy asked.
"I told you to never sneak up on me, I could've pulled out my sword and you" she scolded. She clutched her sheathed sword and sighed with relief, good thing she did not.
"I won't do it again" Ethan promised with a cheeky smile.
"Are you really going to let him off the hook that easily?" Another one popped up by the kitchen counter, he had shoulder face-framing dread locs that hid away his light brown almond eyes.
Blue gasped excited by his presence. "I almost thought you two wouldn't come in here!" She relaxed.
Raphael smiled at her. "We weren't but then we remembered there was price money for whoever found the kid" he answered.
Ethan rolled his eyes, "yeah right."
"Okay then let's head upstairs" she ordered.
"Wait, Ethan needs a weapon" Raphael said, he put down his orange backpack and searched through his stuff. Blue and Ethan exchanged confused expressions.
Raphael pulled out a pistol from his bag and tossed it to Ethan. "Where the fuck did you get this?" he asked as he examined the weapon in his hand.
"I found it at crime scene" he replied.
Ethan deadpanned.
"You're joking right..."
"I wish I was"
On a normal night Blue would've been cackling at this but this was not one those nights. Without a word she ascended the stairs and the boys tailed behind her bickering.
"Quiet" she hushed them once they reached the top of the stairs.
There was a faint rattling sound resonating on the left side of right side of the hallway which caught their attention. She took the first step into the hallway and nothing happened.
An eerie presence lurked in the darkness. Blue's heart thundering in her chest, she could feel it in her gut—something was wrong.
"Run!" She yelled.
In a blink of an eye, a hand zipped through the hallway aiming at Blue's head. Ethan tackled her down to the wooden floor, his body on hers.
A phantom stepped out of the shadows, the top half of the boy resembled that of a gentil, frail woman in her mid-thirties with three sets of arms on each side. It's bottom half was that of a spider, eight legs on each side. The phantom stood at a height of approximately seven feet.
"Lord forgive for I shall sin.." the phantom spoke as black tears rolled down it's face.
The duo on the floor stood up and stared at the creature in awe, they had never encountered a phantom that could talk and according to Blue's brother they were the strongest.
"I shall put these kids out of their misery" It prayed.
Smaller versions of it appeared on the staircase, trapping them. Unlike the huge one, the only had one pair of arms and only stood at a height of three feet.
Blue drew in a deep breath as she unsheathed her sword. "There's no backing out now!"
Blue darted forward and slid between its legs, she sliced off the legs on its left side and its crimson red blood splattered on her face. The phantom let out an ear-splitting shriek but it was quickly silenced by a bullet penetrating its throat.
Ethan exhaled nervously. "I got your back!"
Raphael shoved him aside when he saw a hands racing for Ethan's head, he grabbed the phantoms arms and dug his canines into the cold pasty skin. He tore of it's arm.
"And I got yours" he reminded spitting out the limb from his mouth as he punched one coming his way.
Quickly, Riley bounced from the wall and swung her sword at the phantoms head and her eyes widened in horror when it turned its head to face her.
White sticky stuff shot out from it's mouth which she narrowly avoided. Her grip on her sword tightened as she swung for it's head and it caught her before it could graze its skin.
It pinned her against the wall.
"Child, don't you know its rude to sneak up on adults" The phantom screeched, squeezing out the air from her throat. Blood trailed down her face as she stared at the phantom with hate painted in her electric blue eyes.
Her friends were occupied, fighting the three feet phantoms. They were unable to help her.
Weakly, she stabbed its arm using her sword and the phantom retracted it but before her feet could touch the ground, another hand pinned her to the wall.
She cursed underneath her breath.
"Children like you nowadays, do not respect your elders."
She irked at the phantom's remark. "How are we... supposed to respect people that constantly put us in danger?" she hissed.
The grip on her neck loosened. She wrapped her legs around its arm and pierced it with her sword, the phantom let her go. It's other arm tried to grab her but she boosted herself of the wall and landed on the floor.
The spider-lady tried to stab Blue using its pointy feet but she rolled out of the way and onto her feet.
The phantom shot multiple spider-webs at her which she weaved past and she jumped off from the second floor and onto the chandelier.
Her eyes spotted Ethan struggling against seven inferior phantoms in the living room and she dived there.
She skilfully cut through the smaller phantoms and yanked Ethan by his collar. "Time to go" she said as she threw him on her shoulder like a bag of potatoes.
"What about Raphael?" he asked, worry laced in his voice.
"I'm sure he can handle himself" she replied as she ran out the front door with him on her shoulders.
"He is a werewolf after all!"
