5th day of the tournament, the last day to decide the best Guild in Fiore. It should be the most exciting day, but most people already think that no other team can surpass Fairy Tail A's score.
Fairy Tail A : 74 Points
Fairy Tail B : 58 Points
Mermaid Heel : 49 Points
Sabertooth : 45 Points
Lamia Scale : 25 Points
Blue Pegasus : 21 Point
Heaven's Runners : 18 Points
Quatro Puppy : 3 Points
Even the 2nd place is a team from Fairy Tail, so it's almost guaranteed that they will win this tournament.
Still, the number of audience for this last day is the highest throughout this tournament. Everyone knows that the last day is usually the most exciting event, so they want to see it.
Even the commentator is saying that it will be very difficult for the other teams to take over Fairy Tail A's score. But he also says that there is still a chance for some teams before announcing the last day's game.
The last game is called The Grand Magic Games. It's a battle royal game where every player from every team can participate. So with 8 teams and 5 people in each team, there will be 40 people fighting in this event.
They need to attack and defeat other teams' members to gain points. For every team member they defeat, they get 1 point, and if they defeat the team leader, they get 9 points.
So each team provides 9 points with 5 from the leader and 4 from the members. The highest point they can get in this event is 9 × 7, so 63 points, that is if 1 team can defeat all the other teams alone.
With such a scoring system, only Quatro Puppy doesn't have any chance to win this tournament because they only have 3 points. Even if they get all 63 points, they'll only get a total of 66 points, still lower than Fairy Tail A's 74 points.
This event's battlefield is the entire city of Crocus Capital. The teams will be teleported to different locations and then they can start hunting each other.
But before the organizer can start the game, Alex suddenly interrupts them.
"What is it, player Alexander Starling?" Mato the referee asks.
"Hmm, not much. I just think that this is a bit boring. Even with such a system, do you think any team will be able to get a higher score than us? Fairy Tail B might be able to do it if they get 17 points and we got nothing. But we are still from the same Guild, right? The closest after that, Mermaid Heel will need 26 points to win as long as we don't get any points too, of course. But what are the chances? Everyone will fight each other no matter who just to get more points. Then no other teams will get a higher score than us." Alex smirks smugly, irritating the other teams.
"And what you are trying to say is?" Mato tilts his head, making Alex grins wider.
"Let's change something. Instead of the 5 of us, I alone will play in this game. Anyone who can defeat me won't only get 9 points at once, they will also get all of our team's scores. Fairy Tail A is betting every single score we've gained in this tournament."
Alex smirks while everyone's jaw drops. After all, he just said he will fight all 7 teams alone and give all his team's scores to the one who defeats him.
"T-that means, you want to bet the 74 points you've gained so far and add the 9 points others can get from your team in this game?" Mato asks nervously.
"Yeah, so defeating me means you will get a whopping 83 points. Even Quatro Puppy can win the tournament if they get that many points, right? It's all or nothing."
Alex grins excitedly, making people fully believe that he is plain crazy. But of course, such a proposal surely makes a lot of people excited too.
As Alex said, the chance of other teams winning this tournament is very low because Fairy Tail A's score is just too high. So this will give every team a better chance to win this tournament.
Though many are also displeased at Alex's arrogance. They've seen how strong he was, but it's still very arrogant to say he can fight all the other teams alone.
"Then, can I add something too?" Laxus suddenly joins in, making people more curious.
"What is it, player Laxus Dreyar?" Mato asks nervously again.
"Because we are from the same Guild, I'm sure many of you think that we will help Fairy Tail A to win this tournament. I've even heard people saying that yesterday's Tag Battle between us was rigged and set so Fairy Tail A's score can be even higher. Well, I understand everyone's suspicion because we are from the same Guild. But we were entering this tournament fairly and could get both of our teams in because of our abilities. Still, we want to make this even fairer. You might think that we will help Alex, so he won't truly be alone in this last game, right? That's why Fairy Tail B will not participate in this event. That way, no one from our Guild can help Alex. Actually, I want to make this even more difficult for Alex. Let's allow the teams' reserved members to participate too. So each team can send 6 members to fight."
Laxus's proposal makes this even more outrageous. This seems like a sudden plan, but no one from Fairy Tail is opposed to it. At most, they are just surprised before thinking for a while and nod in understanding.
Although this clearly lowers their chance to win this tournament, they all believe that Alex can win this even alone. After all, their whole Guild, minus Gildarts, had fought against Alex once after his comeback, and they lost.
Even Makarov joined in that battle and they still lost. So they actually want to see if anyone here can actually defeat Alex. They want to see Alex using his full power because it always seems like he is holding back.
Also, as Laxus said, if both Fairy Tail teams play, others will suspect that they are helping each other to win. Well, it's their privilege for succeeding in sending 2 teams into the main event.
Still, they want to make their victory undebatable with this. So they agree with Laxus's plan for Fairy Tail B to not participate in the last game.
If Alex can defeat everyone else, the 2nd position will still be Fairy Tail B's with 58 points anyway because no one else gains points. So this really is all or nothing for Fairy Tail.
If Alex can win, then no one will doubt the title they will get as the strongest Guild in Fiore. Heck, Alex might be called the strongest Mage in Fiore too.
The organizer then discusses this proposal. As expected, they can't just agree to it without a thorough discussion because this is not an easy matter to decide.
Fortunately, they don't talk for too long because people are waiting. Then after a while, Mati finally announces the result of their discussion.
To everyone's surprise, the organizer agrees with the proposals. Certainly, giving every team a chance to win this tournament is more exciting because then everyone will try their hardest to win.
Also, people have been riled up by Alex's arrogance. Most of them want to see if Alex really can back up his big mouth for daring to challenge all the other teams alone.
Alex sighs in relief when they agree with his strange proposal. The other team members, Fairy Tail B, Makarov, and even Mavis also seem relieved. This is actually their Guild's plan that they discussed last night.
Last night, just when they returned to their lodging, they were surprised by the appearance of some people. Even Alex who had been expecting it was surprised because he was just expecting 1 person.
The ones who came were people from the future. Future Lucy, Future Asuka, and another kid from the future. It's Gajeel's and Levy's daughter, who hasn't been born yet in this timeline.
Alex had expected some changes, but it was still surprising. Even he was surprised, so the others who didn't have any clue about this event were even more surprised.
But they could only believe it when they saw Future Lucy's face and the other facts Future Lucy said to prove their identities.
That's why last night, they all learned about what happened in their future selves' timeline. It's basically the same as what Alex knew, but many things were different because of Alex's presence.
Even so, it didn't change the fact that they couldn't defeat 10 thousand Dragons. No matter how strong Alex was, he alone couldn't defeat that many Dragons.
Although thanks to him, these 3 could survive and return to the past to give them a warning about the incoming calamity.
Though this also makes Alex frustrated because this means, himself from their timeline failed to prevent the Dragons' arrival from the past despite knowing about the future.
Maybe there were other timelines where he succeeded or maybe there were timelines where the world was completely wiped out and no one could go to the past.
He wouldn't know that, but at least he knows that from so many possibilities that formed different timelines, he failed to save his loved ones in one of them.
That's why he swore in his heart to protect his loved ones in this timeline with everything he got and that's why last night, they made plans to prevent the incoming disaster.
