Just as Elina turned to leave, the rumble of armored trucks shook the ground. Sounds of choppers blade cutting through the silence.
"The Guards…" Elina whispered, her jaw tightening.
Kayne, still on the floor and glowing faintly blue, tried to push himself up. His chest rose and fell rapidly, but his eyes stayed sharp.
"Guards?"
Feeling a sense of premonition, he muttered,"Don't Tell me?"
Elina smiled sarcastically
"Oh so you know them. The executioners dressed as heroes. I'm very sure they would be interested in you."
"I doubt it," Kayne muttered, smiling bitterly.
"What the hell is he saying?"
Before Kayne could react any longer, he was dragged behind an SUV.
"Stay low and shut up." Her voice was sharp.
Blue sparks leaked across Kayne's skin uncontrollably, illuminating their hiding spot. One Guard's helmet swiveled in their direction.
"There! Flanking left!"
"Damn it." Elina cursed under her breath. She stretched out her hands immediately and objects in her surroundings levitated into the air.
With a sudden flick, she sent the storm of metal flying, forcing the Guards back behind their shields.
Kayne's eyes widened. "Wow she's cool"
She scoffed at hearing his remark.
Wasting no time she pressed her palm against a cracked section of wall. The concrete groaned, shifted, and gave way, opening a narrow gap just big enough for them to squeeze through.
Kayne hesitated, staring at the soldiers advancing through smoke and sparks. "Why are you helping me?"
Elina met his gaze, her green eyes sharp but unreadable. "Don't flatter yourself. I don't like the Guards. And you…"
She glanced at him, the glow had died down at this point "You're interesting"
Before Kayne could argue, she shoved him through the opening. Bullets hit the rubbles immediately.
They stumbled into the night, breathless. Sirens wailed across the city as drones searched overhead, but the Guards had lost sight of them.
Kayne pressed his back against a wall, still trying to steady his breathing. "You saved me…"
Elina smirked, wiping blood from her lip. "No. I postponed your death. Learn the difference."
Without waiting for a reply, she strode off into the shadows.
Kayne blinked, the echo of her words chilling him more than the Guards' guns.
Shaking off the feeling,he headed for home.
She didn't even get my number, how will she get to kill me?
After cleaning himself at a nearby restroom. He found a display of clothes which he put on.
At least I still have my bank card.
Kayne thought while looking at the rectangular card.

Zech's Mansion
As a taxi pulled up in front of the mansion, soldiers quickly rushed to confront the newcomer. Kayne stepped out of the cab.
The captain of the soldiers Mark asked immediately "Who are_____"
He couldn't complete his statement at the sight of Kayne.
"Welcome sir"
Immediately the other soldiers responded in the same way.
The taxi driver couldn't help sigh in relief, he had thought Kayne was senile when he said he was going to Zech's mansion.
Immediately Kayne was escorted to the main villa.
'Have they missed me? Are they waiting for me?'
As soon as he got to the living room, his dad and mom were carefully watching Ryan as he addressed the reporters in a press conference on the TV.
Kayne couldn't help but smile bitterly, his smile clearly reflecting pain and disappointment.
"Why were you not home on the night of the explosion?" Lyra, Kayne's mom, sounded in the living room as she glanced at him.
"I had an important meeting," Kayne replied while looking down and scrubbing his trousers.
"Hmmmm. Next time do not put us into unnecessary discomfort by acting thoughtlessly….
I've seen the doctor's message and apparently you're ok, prepare for school tomorrow" Immediately after saying this she resumed watching the TV.
A strange silence corroded the living room.
After what seemed to be an eternity, he replied,"Alright," and left for his room immediately.
As soon as Kayne got to his room, he opened his laptop and checked his web-comic page, he couldn't help but sigh.
"At least some people missed me" Kayne sighed as he checked multiple messages of fans asking why he wasn't updating chapters, some even asked if he was ok or alive.
As he lay down on his bed multiple thoughts coursed through his head.
Powers, weird powered girl, Jenny, McReynolds, 'Guards'.
His thoughts were jumbled throughout the night.

An Underground Basement (Somewhere In Oraycon):
Elina tore off the arm of her shirt revealing a bloodied wound. She poured alcohol on the wound while hissing in pain.
Ding!
Immediately she picked up her phone and opened the messenger app.
Darius: Where the heck did you meet that guy? He's the son of Zech Grey. The younger brother of that bastard.
Elina smiled coldly looking at the message.
"This is getting more interesting"
