Amaka soon got used to the stress ,moreover it was not different from the one in the village ,where she would go to farm ,to the deepest part of the forest just to get firewood ,move about 20km to thier water source just to fetch for house chores and the likes ,amaka set her mind and was ready for the worst

Amaka continued to live with the amadis years passed by and soon nkechi ( sir amadis first daughter) came from abroad where she studied , the return of nkechi was the beginning of double trouble for amaka,nkechi hated the fact that her father brought her cousin to live with them,when her mother told her that amaka was with them she was furious ,cause she never liked amaka even for a second .
Nkechi was a very beautiful lady but was cruel,she had just graduated with a degree from one of the most expensive schools in the UK,Indeed her father was capable,she graduated as a doctor( she studied medcine ) imedaitely she came back from school she secured a job at a teaching hospital.
Amaka and ada were now in the university both in their second year ,ada was studying law while amaka was studying nursing ,one day amaka was getting ready for school for ada had earlier gone ,as she was about to live her aunty called her back and asked if she washed the clothes nkechi had previously left behind,amaka was not aware that nkechi had left some clothes behind for washing.
Mrs chika was furious ,she was scolding and yelling at amaka to the extend that she poured the hot tea she was taking on amaka' s uniform ,amaka had no choice she had to cancel her lectures for that day ,she was not feeling too well that day .
Nkechi had left alot of clothes behind for amaka to wash she brought out everything even underwear and other delicate clothes ,amaka had to wash everything on an empty stomach( for mrs chika locked the kitchen and went out with the key) amaka was used to it already ,so after washing the clothes she went to their neighbors shop to plead for help ,on getting there she pleaded with the owner he felt pity for her and gave her bread and soft drinks ,she thanked him and left for home .
On reaching home she found out that har aunty was already home ,her aunty was sitting outside waiting for her with a smirk on her face,amaka was astonished cause she knew she was in trouble ,she quitely opened the gate and went in,her aunty went in after her .
Later that evening when everyone was home and had taken dinner ,mrs chika told her husband that earlier that day amaka went to their neighbors shop slept with him for soft drinks and snacks,her uncle was angry he called amaka and flogged her mercilessly,he never knew that amaka had no choice than to beg for food.
