Chapter 231 - Source Origin(78)

Leyk's heart truly stopped for a moment, and he had the feeling the same could've counted for Cades core, if he had one, or if he had something akin to a heart, which he seriously doubted, he had been reduced to nothing but a being made of experiences and thoughts, stored and inaccessible knowledge, after all.

But Coures, as he had now began to refer to her, as if they were friends, which they definitely weren't, that he thought was fairly clear, didn't seem to care at all, instead opting to start explaining as soon as she heard the question, be it with a short pause to capture her thoughts, if she even had to do it, perhaps only choosing to take a break to make them think of her as more of a living being, rather than a force of nature older than time itself.

She snacked her tongue and made the well-known noise before she continued, as if to perpetuate her relatively normal being, or at least make it seem as such.

"When I was first created, my creator, the last of the last, the survivor of the endless nothing, the perpetuator of the child, he who raised existence, made a small mistake, he had only so many materials remaining, and instead of risking it all and making me only of magic, he made a small part of me wood, that being the part of me that allows me to stand upright." she was scientific and precise this time, no laughing, but still open and ironically enough still smiling, as if she remembered something unfortunate but she was fine with it.

"But if you had something to stand, then what were you first created as?"

Once more, Leyk felt great fear, finally remembering Cades idea of 'who doesn't ask loses, and when one does ask then one wins either way' and feeling even more stressed at the thought of what they could ask next, though at leas they seemed to have made a good first impression now that he thought about it again.

She smiled and seemed to think of Cades almost like a curios small child, a toddler asking why the sky was blue, a snake asking why they were snakes, and then she answered, her tongue not smacking, her body eerily unmoving, the parts of her body though, twitching as much as before, just the bigger parts remining still.

"I was created to shine light upon the absence of even nothingness, the true nothing that was never and will never not be and be, my first form was that of a lamp, held in a hand and stood upon the nothing that was never nothing and always nothing..."

She took a break as Cades and Leyk both struggled, only understanding that she had once been a lamp, though not understanding what she meant by that, not at all, as if the very nature of what she had just told them was against the very nature of what they were able to understand, able to know, able to feel, as if it was against the laws of everything to wholly remember and understand what she had just said, all of that, even though she had said it so easily, without any problems in telling them, with her smile still there, the teeth no more being exposed, a kind look on her face, her eyes slightly closed, the grin ever so slightly being a bit too wide, though neither of them noticed that miniscule little detail.

But still, Cades didn't seem to give it an eternal rest, soon firing another question that he didn't really understand.

"I take it you already know what will happen, you know, in relation to the.. mpfhmpfh" he mpfh-ed the last part, and Leyk was really unsure of if he even wanted to know what he had really said.

"Yes, I know of the beast, don't worry, you will succeed, but for now, let's finally talk about this ring here..." she held it up high, almost like a medal and put it close to her face once more, having it held in her fist before as she talked with Cades and had been gesturing with it in her hands.

Finally, Leyk thought, finally they would take care of that part, the only part that really, really, mattered to him, perhaps the most important part of this conversation, the very reason it had even begun, a process he had never really understood, after all, why couldn't people just instantly come to the point and stop talking around everything, though, in some way, he had to admit that he was thinking akin to Cades when it came to question in this case.

Actually, Leyk thought as Coures was about to finally talk and give her assessment, a feeling of excitement he hadn't felt since his professor back in Unulria had assessed his entrance exam work, something he had been so very proud of, though by far not as proud as this ring, Cades was weirdly good at small-talk ever since he had lost his body and became a subconscious, which was kind of weird since he didn't really have anyone to talk to in there, similar to him in reality.

"The earring is great, it show what you have learned, and well, you pass."

That was a bit weird, she had tried to assess it as it seemed, but she had for some reason just stopped herself from talking further, but still, she was right, it was her place only to really say if he had passed, not much more, but on the other hand, he wanted to know more, that was for sure.

In some way, right now, he showed that he still originated from Cades, because now he asked without really thinking, believing that one should just ask straight.

"What is it?"

That, in Leyk's opinion was the more important question, after all, he really wanted to know just what he had just achieved, a name for this art, anything, something to remember this deed by.
