Chapter 328 - Journey to the golden City(22)

The story of the forsaken realm had mainly been divided into the arrival of the various cities, the first one to be founded having been the forgotten one, said to have bene founded by a great warrior queen stronger and more durable than anyone else, having wielded eyes as black as the veil surrounding everything and having conquered the nests of even the most terrible monsters, her story supposedly having ended after she was trapped in a sealed artefact and thrown into the endless light.

This was known as the first era, the arrival of order and the arrival of the forgotten child, a being that the fanatics of the church worshipped as a vessel sent by the gods to help them find true peace, many of them having jumped into the endless light to find the truth and perhaps recover the sealed artefact, all of them never having seen the other side.

The second era became with the splintering of the forgotten city, birthing the silver city that had been carried by a being some claimed to have been a god-like kurakkan, the golden city that had been founded by the predecessor of Lady Crisis, a lord known as Midas, having named themselves after a myth of their homeland, always having claimed that place to be far better than this one, and the city of nature, filled with those that were once elves, ents and fae, those who long only for the trees, who had taken over a discarded island filled with violent examples of such before recently moving to a place that wielded a world tree, one recently found.

The third era began with the city of progress taking hold, sparking a conflict between the cities and lords that wanted to control the populace, keeping them under their shoes and keeping them busy with farming and other works as to stay as the lords and the forsaken ones who yearned to escape, capable and willing to do anything to get free from this realm that, to them, seemed to function only as a prison.

In the end some of the conservatives survived, forced to spread to the outer regions of the network spun by the cities, always struggling to survive because not one of the more powerful lords, not even the holy ones who believed themselves superior, ones that arrived together with the city of progress, using the rubble of the war to take hold atop a forgotten city known now only as the city of fire and blood, rumoured to have bene inhabited by demons, being willing to help those who control others, even them being willing to utilize the automatons, be it with a different style and varying frequency.

The fourth area was the area of chaos, having taken place over eighty years ago and ended just ten years ago, spanning a length of seventy years, a time where countless dragons and mythical creatures were banished to this place, where an entire species, had arrived but died not too long after because of a curse that had been put on them, their arrival having happened not on the chains but in the depths, their species having crawled out, hurt and wounded all over, from under the eternal light, but still, very rarely.

But not just those man had arrived, Lady crisis had arrived, a burning colossus akin in size to the one Lawrence had under control, as powerful as a god according to some legends of back then, had caused endless pain and anguish across entire networks, the people having come in touch with another network for the first time back then, nobody really having cared, not really conversing, just exchanging fruits, the so-called apples as Kehit had called them, Lawrence admitting he had never eaten one before and having stolen a single one, being given by these other people.

And with the arrival of the other network the fifth era had begun.

In accordance with that the first era was the era of establishment where the first city had taken hold, the second era was the era of hold where things truly began to sprout, be it that most of the lords from that era were now gone, replaced by stronger ones, smarter ones, the third era was the one of progress, or of enlightenment as those of the priests called it, the fourth the one of the homeless as most called it, the lords referring to it as the era of the aftermath of a great calamity that must have affected many thousand worlds, Leyk and Avere both inwardly admitting that that would have made a lot more sense than just attacking a single world, the fifth one being the present one, some calling it the era of networking, but most saying it did not have enough merit to deserve such a title yet.

There were many other things that happened, be it the many dragons that had been forced to eternally fly amidst the veil since the first era, or the great war in the pre-era, the one the queen of warrior had won with ease, leading many thousand forsaken though a war, even lords and ladies of the tyrant-class having answered her demands due to her power.

And in the end this story only came to a stop, never having truly finished explaining ever since the one hour ago they had left the second farming island, one covered only in course dirt because it was empty of nutrients right now, Lawrence claiming that there were other kinds of islands connected with the golden city, they had just met the wrong one.

Finally, he announced their arrival, the very chains they were walking atop of being strung into flowing into a much greater one, half a mile wide, with golden marks, leading to a city that stood in the distance, marvellous palaces lifting into the skies, a kind of colosseum visible in the far, behind the castle that stood thin and higher than all others, the one that Lawrence claimed the queen resided within, all six of them, Leyk in specific, feeling power beyond what they had expected.
