Chapter 18: The night before the exam
It's the night before the first exam and Kazuo is walking around the school
Kazuo: The first exam is starting tomorrow, so it's finally here.
Kazuo sits on top of the roof of the school looking at the stars
Kazuo: I wonder what the exam is going to be like
Mizuki: ( walks up to the roof and sees Kazuo) Oh uhm... Hi there
Kazuo: (turns around and sees a girl standing behind him) Oh Hi, didn't expect anyone to come here tonight
Mizuki: Do you mind if I sit with you?
Kazuo: Yeah, no problem
Mizuki: Thanks. I'm Mizuki, what's your name?
Kazuo: Kazuo
Mizuki: (sits beside Kazuo) Nice to meet you, Kazuo. Are you nervous about the test too?
Kazuo: I'm not nervous, I just came here to clear my mind.
Mizuki: So you like looking at the stars too?
Kazuo: Yeah, it's relaxing
Mizuki: It really is, I always do it when I have a big day or test coming up.
Kazuo: So you're nervous about the test tomorrow?
Mizuki: Yeah I am, I don't see who wouldn't be nervous. It's our first test at the school, aren't you a little bit nervous? This test will determine the rank
Kazuo: Rank is nothing but a title, it doesn't always show one's true strength. That's how I see it at least
Mizuki: I see, so you're saying it doesn't matter what rank you get? Even if you rank low?
Kazuo: Not at all. Even if you rank low the first time around, you will be able to learn and grow from your mistakes.
Mizuki: Yeah you're right, the rank you get won't determine your worth. As long as you never give up you'll grow stronger.
Kazuo: Yeah, that's why this first test doesn't worry me. It's just to evaluate everyone else's strength
Mizuki: You know, I think you're right. I guess I was worrying about it for no reason. Thank you, for giving me some advice. I think I know what to do tomorrow
Kazuo: Yeah, no problem.
Mizuki: (gets up) Thanks for tonight, it was fun talking to you. I'm going to get going
Kazuo: Alright, good night.
Mizuki: Good night, Kazuo ( starts walking away, then turns around) wait, what class are you in?
Kazuo: Class C
Mizuki: So we're in the same class, alright. I'll see you tomorrow, Kazuo (waves bye and rushes back to her dorm)
Kazuo: Mizuki huh (Remembers something from a while ago) Wait a minute she's the girl who uses light magic, well things just got more interesting.
