"I feel very messed up," Zeeb said, groaning as he ran his fingers through his thick hair. The morning sun felt like a personal attack on his tired eyes.
Ralph did not turn to him, but he rolled his eyes. "That is because you had a long night drinking and went on to take some women home," Ralph said bluntly. "I really wonder how we have someone like you as the Gamma."
"You know I do my job well enough," Zeeb protested, waving a hand as if to swat the criticism away. "I just thought I had the day off," he protested, still groaning. "I did not expect that Zephyr would call us here today."
"Well, it has happened, and you should stop complaining about it," Ralph pointed out, his voice flat and final.
Zeeb was about to say something when he heard the sound of approaching hooves, and that is how he knew that Zephyr was here.
