PROLOGUE

"Mum! I am scared " A seven-year-old Lumina in her blue robe could be seen crying as she was being pulled by her mum looking for the nearest exit out of their current location.

But it was hard for her mum because she was seriously wounded already, and she was being followed.

"Mum… it hurt..." Lumina cried out but her mum never listened, her baby in her grasp as she ran for her life.

"Catch her! She must not escape, the king wants her head before nightfall!" A voice echoed from behind.

Finally, her mum stopped running, seeing a cave she used her last strength to sprint toward the hut, delighted she could finally use it to save her daughter.

She dropped her daughter to the ground, tears dripping from both her eyes.

"Lumina.." Elena, her mum, called her heart shattered into pieces as she could hear the footsteps coming closer.

"Mum… you are crying, you said an enchantress never cries.." little Lumina stated and her mum quickly wiped her tears shaking her head.

"No, it's sweat... You heard me right, a little enchantress never cries," her m pulled out the necklace she had around her neck now helping her daughter wear it.

"Find her!" The voice grew louder and she knew she didn't have much time.

"Lumina…" Elena called again, caressing her daughter's face, "I am sorry I don't have much time to be in this world with you, I can't help you reach the goal you are in the world for but I promise to always be there for you even after my death."

"Mum… what are you saying?" she let out, and she grabbed her hands.

"No matter what, never avenge my death, you only need to have a good heart, and never have the dark aura everyone thinks you have."

"But I am cursed, I don't even have a lower to save you now," she murmured and her mum shook her head patting her hair:

"No. You are not, you my light, my beautiful baby, my angel, you are not cursed," she affirmed, and now pulled off the necklace she has around her neck now wearing it on her daughter's neck.

The footsteps grew closer and she took in a deep breath, "This necklace will lead you to your other half, no matter what never take it off even though you go live with your father."

"Father?" Lumina called surprised, "But, Mum, you said I don't have a father," Lumina exclaimed, confusion etched on her face.

Her mother's expression turned solemn. "You will have one now, no matter what. You shouldn't scream... Please, never alert them. Only alert them after I am dead."

With those final words, the voice was behind her, "Over here!" one of the men screamed and her mother pushed her into the hut, but then an arrow pierced through her heart.

"Mum!" Luminal cried out but she gestured for her to keep shut.

"Don't give her the chance to use her power!" one of the men announced as they rushed toward her but they were a little late.

Elena raised her hands, and a light burst forth from her body, illuminating the dark space.

The men shielded their eyes, momentarily blinded, her whole hair white same as her eyes

"Astra, lux mea, audientia mea!" Eena chanted, her voice echoing through the air. "Ego, Mater Enchantress, transfundo totum potentiam meam in te, filia mea! Tenebrae noctis, caecitas permanens, donec occurs protector tuus!"

("Stars, my light, hear me! I, Mother Enchantress, transfer all my power to you, my daughter! Darkness of night, permanent blindness, until your protector arrives!)

"Luminaira Asteria Calanthor, daughter of Enchantress Elena Moonwhisper, accepts all my power!"

The light enveloped Lumina in the hit, and she felt a surge of energy course through her veins.

Her mother's power was transferred to her, but it came at a terrible cost. Lumina's vision began to blur, and she felt herself becoming blind, the darkness closing in around her like a shroud.

"Now!" one of the men announced as they charged toward Elena through the light they were ready for tonight.

Elena looked back at them and then a dirty smirk played on her lips, she pulled out the arrow in her heart.

She took down the first man with the same arrow that pierced her, sending him crashing to the ground.

The second guard lunged at her with his sword, but she dodged the attack with ease, countering with a blast of magical energy that sent him flying across the room.

A third guard attacked from behind, she spun around, her hands weaving intricate patterns in the air as she summoned a vortex of swirling energy.

The guard was lifted off the ground, his screams echoing through the forest as he was tossed around like a rag doll.

Despite how swift she was she was outnumbered. The king had released several men so they could take her down today.

"Mum!" Lumina screamed from the hut and this got her attention, Elena looked back in fear.

This made one of the guards use the opportunity of her lost self, he landed a fatal blow, striking her with his sword and sashing her neck with one strike.

Elena's body crumpled to the ground, her eyes frozen on her daughter's face who walked out staring at her mum with fear, even though her vision was becoming blurred she could see how her mother's neck was slashed.

Elena fell, as she smiled weakly, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Lumina... only act like your name... Never followed the trace of dark aura," she whispered.

With those final words, her neck fell to the ground and Lumina's world went dark, her mind reeling with shock, grief, and the crushing weight of her newfound blindness.
