Chapter 63 - Chapter 6 Part 4.1

Part 4

May 5th, 2513

Kate's boots crunched onto the street for the first time in, Kate didn't even know how long. The driveway being a complete nightmare to walk. If it weren't for the cold, the post shower sheen would've melted away and she'd be swampy and embarrassed.

Instead, Kate was tall, confident and completely directionless. All Kate understood was Sakura lived close to the mountain, and they were headed up.

"I wanna to give you something." Sakura said.

"Is it in your pants?" Kate asked.

"Would you take it if it was?" Sakura said.

Kate didn't say a word. Bluff called, and so quickly!

"Can I take you out?" Sakura asked.

"You want to murder me?"

Sakura punched Kate in the shoulder, making Kate laugh. Kate's calves were on fire, she'd done so much, and had yet to eat, Sakura had put them on the move the second she got dressed. Kate's dress had been left behind replaced by a pair of dense suede pants that felt like angels were hugging her thighs. A deliberate choice by a very slick woman.

"Do you want the thing?" Sakura asked.

Kate eyed her and smiled.

"I would love it more than anything."

Sakura fished in her pants and Kate smacked her, which made them both laugh.

"You are so weird." Kate laughed.

"I do not want to hear that from someone who can't see themselves."

"Are you no longer pitching me?"

Sakura looked at her with that adorable face undermined by the slyest of smiles. So yes, Sakura was absolutely still pitching her.

"Who taught you how to pitch?" Kate continued.

Sakura suddenly offered a hand, confused. Kate looked, reached out and pulled back when Sakura smacked the hand she offered only to have her other hand grabbed and they were walking again. Sakura firmly in control in their 'date', which was apparently in the hand holding phase, all it needed was Sakura handing Kate her coat. Kate smiled despite herself.

"I do not consent." Kate said.

"Don' care." Sakura said. "Blind people are led."

"Are you my seeing eye dog?"

"You'd never listen, so I would have to bite."

Kate laughed but Sakura was already pulling her. It was quite incredible what little things there were to noticed about the skinny, fast, strong well-endowed woman, who wore her own pink winter fur onesie that bunched up, making her look puffy despite the small person inside.

Kate hadn't missed that, despite all their nice clothing, Sakura had somehow forgotten to find any thick gloves for either of them. Because of it, Kate could feel Sakura's cool fingers warming her own.

They'd finally left the 'suburbs', an understatement akin to calling the ocean a big puddle. They crossed into what felt like a one horse town in the middle of a circle of ice. Dark brick walls with white cement that reminded Kate of an incredibly detailed cake representing an America that had disappeared hundreds of years ago. Sakura rushed them to a coffee shop that proved to be the peak of quaintness. A small interior and collection of tables and chairs that looked as though they should have been in a snow globe.

"Sit." Sakura commanded in an adorably small voice.

"Shouldn't I say that?" Kate said, with a wink.

"Shhhh" Sakura said, pointing a chair.

Kate did as told resting her butt on an alarmingly warm metal chair. She audibly sighed. Snowflakes, like a soft drizzle, landed on the table and sizzled. It was mesmerising, she was to spit on it to see, then, upon picturing herself randomly drooling gobs of spit in the middle of a restaurant just chose to touch the table. It was warm.

Entire departments responsible for Kate's well being complained. What if it hadn't Ben Kate? What then?

Problems for the weak! Yelled other parts of her.

She wanted to press her tongue to it so see if there's be a spark, too see if she'd sizzle. Griff would have. That dampened the moment.

"Yo, you the girl?" Snapped a voice that pounced on her wondering mind.
