Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The First Dragon Ball

Dr. Brief was startled by his daughter's sudden excitement and whispered in defense, "That's not a Dragon Ball; it's just a special glass ball."

"Whether it's a Dragon Ball or a glass ball, I want to know where it is!" Bulma continued.

"Oh, it's probably in our warehouse at home, but I'm not sure where I put it," Dr. Brief replied.

Hearing her father's response, Bulma didn't even finish her dinner and rushed to the family warehouse.

However, when Bulma opened the warehouse, she felt her heart sink. The warehouse was enormous, filled with countless items. How would she ever find what she was looking for?

Bulma suddenly thought of John. She had planned to use the first wish for him, so asking for his help in finding the Dragon Ball shouldn't be a problem.

Of course, there was no problem, but Bulma realized she didn't have John's contact information. She sighed, blaming her mother for scaring him off and causing this oversight.

Meanwhile, John, having bid farewell to Bulma, was startled by her mother and ran straight home. He locked the door behind him and sighed in relief, his heart still racing from the sprint.

Since it was late, John began preparing dinner for himself. As he cooked, he realized he hadn't exchanged contact information with Bulma.

With no other option, John decided to go to Bulma's school the next day to wait for her after classes and exchange contact information.

Little did John know that in just one evening, Bulma would receive news about a Dragon Ball, and soon they would embark on their quest to find the Dragon Balls.

The next evening, John arrived at Bulma's school to wait for her.

Soon, he spotted Bulma with her blue hair among the students leaving school. John waved, "Bulma!"

Bulma saw John and, after saying goodbye to her classmates, rode her motorcycle towards him.

"Hey, John, I was wondering how to contact you last night. I'm glad you came to find me today. I really didn't know how to tell you the good news," Bulma said excitedly.

"Good news?" John's eyes lit up, and he asked, "Did you figure out how to make the Dragon Radar?"

Bulma smiled and said, "Not yet, but I believe it won't be long. The good news isn't just that I can make the Dragon Radar, but that we're about to get our first Dragon Ball."

"A Dragon Ball? Which one?" John asked eagerly. "Can I see it? I've never seen a Dragon Ball before."

Bulma smiled and said, "I wouldn't bring something so important to school. The Dragon Ball is at my house. Come with me, and I'll show you the Dragon Ball you've been dreaming of."

To avoid John running off because of her mother, Bulma decided not to mention that the Dragon Ball was still in the warehouse and hadn't been found yet.

John hopped onto Bulma's magnetic hoverbike, and she accelerated, speeding towards her home.

In no time, they arrived at Bulma's residence.

John got off the bike and suddenly remembered Bulma's mother. He cautiously asked, "Is your mother home?"

Seeing John's reaction, Bulma realized that having a mischievous mother like hers could be entertaining. So, she played along, saying casually, "Don't worry, she's probably shopping at the mall and won't be back until dinner. She won't be home for a while."

Hearing that her mother wasn't home, John relaxed and asked Bulma, "So, where's the Dragon Ball? Let's go see it."

Bulma said, "Follow me; the Dragon Ball is in our warehouse." She handed John a magnetic hoverboard from the wall and rode ahead on her bike to lead the way.

John was fascinated by the hoverboard in his hands and mimicked Bulma, stepping onto it and pressing the forward button. The hoverboard started moving.

The warehouse was on the first floor, and Bulma led John there quickly.

Bulma opened the warehouse door and guided John inside, turning on the lights to reveal the vast space.

John was slightly amazed by the size of Bulma's warehouse and asked, "Where's the Dragon Ball?"

Bulma hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed, and said, "I'm sorry, but my dad told me he once received a Dragon Ball as a gift and put it in this warehouse. So, I need your help to search for it. You don't mind, right?"

As she spoke, Bulma gave John a pitiful look, her blue eyes filled with a pleading expression.

John felt his mouth go dry, and his voice became hoarse, "Of course, of course, there's no problem. I'll find the Dragon Ball. This kind of hard work is what men should do."

Bulma had been waiting for John to say this and immediately replied, "Great! Then I'll go get you something to drink. What would you like?"

"Water is fine," John said.

"Okay, you keep searching, and I'll be right back. Stay for dinner tonight, and you can taste the cooking skills of our kitchen robot," Bulma said and left.

John had been about to say that he didn't need to stay for dinner, but with Bulma gone, he had no choice but to keep the thought to himself.

Looking at the warehouse, which was as big as a football field, John sighed and muttered to himself, "Time to get to work!"

He began searching through the items in the warehouse one by one.

While John was searching for the Dragon Ball, Bulma's mother walked into the warehouse carrying a glass of water.

Hearing footsteps, John assumed it was Bulma and said without looking up, "Bulma, your warehouse is so big. Just searching like this will take forever. Have you ever organized the warehouse or marked the areas where you frequently retrieve items? We can search those areas first, which should speed things up."

"Oh my, I didn't expect Mr. John to be so smart. I'm increasingly impressed. Are you sure you don't want to be my daughter's boyfriend?" Bulma's mother said with a smile.
