Volume 2 Chapter 75: Resistance (Part 1)

The railguns were fully charged and ready to fire. Based on the speed of the Ghidorah's Wings, the railgun array near Beijing was expected to be the first line of defense to confront them.

In the earlier earthquakes, many of the railguns stationed in Beijing had already lost basic operational capabilities. Even those still functional were damaged to varying degrees. However, it didn't matter. As long as they could fire even two or three shots, it might be enough. The Ghidorah's Wings weren't massive in size; a few direct hits could likely inflict serious injuries.

And now, how many shells did humanity's railguns have at their disposal? Just along the East Asia defensive line, over a thousand railguns had been constructed. Assuming each could fire 5 to 10 rounds before being destroyed, it seemed more than sufficient to annihilate the Ghidorah's Wings.

However—

During the setup of the orbital defense network and the deployment of nuclear landmines, humans had also calculated that their weapons would be enough to wipe out the Ghidorah's Wings. The result?

Only one was killed.

Would the East Asia railguns truly perform as anticipated and defeat the Ghidorah's Wings?

Everyone who had witnessed the unthinkable power of the Ghidorah's Wings on the previous two fronts carried doubts in their hearts.

If the Beijing railgun array was entirely wiped out without significantly injuring the Ghidorah's Wings…

For humanity, the road ahead would plunge into utter darkness.

By then, perhaps only one path would remain: retreating underground, like their ancestors once did, to grow and survive in lightless tunnels.

Thus, the battle at Beijing could be seen as a decisive moment for humanity's future.

Of the railguns in Beijing still operational, only 20 remained. All they could do was hope these 20 railguns would bring a miracle.

The first wave of ten Ghidorah's Wings, having destroyed an entire city, was now en route to Beijing. At their speed, they would enter the railgun array's firing range within three minutes. Once that happened, the real battle on the ground would begin.

In the East Asia Monster combat command base, everyone watched nervously as the screen displayed the advancing Ghidorah's Wings. These creatures, flying at subsonic speeds, traversed lakes and land, steadily closing in on Beijing.

1 minute... 50 seconds... 40 seconds...

"Launch the nuclear missiles!"

"The railguns stationed near Beijing—numbers 1 through 15—are fully locked onto their targets and awaiting firing range!"

"Numbers 18, 25, 32, 33, and 37—all remaining operational railguns are locked on as well. Capacitors charged! Ready to fire!"

The nuclear missiles were launched as a diversionary strike. The railguns, meanwhile, aimed and waited, fully charged.

30 seconds... 20 seconds... 10 seconds...

"The first wave of nuclear weapons is within 10 kilometers of the enemy!"

"Capacitor charging complete! Railguns—prepare to fire!"

"The Ghidorah's Wings have begun intercepting the nuclear missiles! Their attention is fully occupied! Impact countdown—5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Targets are now within range!"

"Railguns 1 through 15, along with 18, 25, 32, 33, and 37..."

"Fire!"

"Nuclear detonation commencing!"

The brilliance of nuclear explosions erupted at the outskirts of Beijing, blinding the Ghidorah's Wings and obstructing their view of the battlefield.

Amidst the atmosphere, the chain of nuclear detonations created shockwaves that disrupted their flight patterns. As the Ghidorah's Wings lit up their bodies with laser-like beams to intercept the surrounding nuclear weapons, the railguns in Beijing fired their rounds.

From various corners of the city, the remaining railguns unleashed their payloads—projectiles several meters long propelled at Mach 100. The trails of superheated plasma left dazzling streaks in the air.

Twenty rounds, fired simultaneously, screamed toward the targets—Ghidorah's Wings trapped amidst the nuclear firestorm. In just three seconds, the projectiles reached their marks before the Ghidorah's Wings could react.

Boom!!!

Amid the nuclear fireball, additional explosions roared.

Four figures fell from the fiery inferno. These were four of the Ghidorah's Wings, each now bearing multiple terrifying craters on their chests, with diameters of up to 10 meters and depths nearing the same.

The sudden impact delivered devastating force, rendering their million-ton bodies incapable of maintaining flight. The four Ghidorah's Wings plummeted into the surrounding forests, shaking the earth upon impact.

There was no doubt—they were gravely wounded.

"RAWRRR!!!"

The remaining six Ghidorah's Wings, sensing their companions' injuries, roared in rage.

They accelerated out of the nuclear blast zone, heading directly for the Beijing railgun positions. Their mouths glowed ominously as they charged their beams.

Due to the shockwaves, the nuclear weapons could no longer interfere with the Ghidorah's Wings' movements. Unhindered, they unleashed beams of destruction, carving through the city and into the railgun array near Beijing.

Buildings collapsed en masse under the onslaught, including four railguns, which were completely annihilated.

Sixteen railguns remained operational. They recharged and fired once more, targeting the advancing Ghidorah's Wings from various angles and directions. The Ghidorah's Wings' beams could not intercept the projectiles, leaving them no choice but to attempt evasion.

However, the immense inertia of their million-ton bodies meant they couldn't alter their trajectory in just two or three seconds. Of the sixteen shots, ten struck true, impacting two Ghidorah's Wings.

These two creatures fell from the skies, joining their four wounded brethren on the ground.

The remaining four Ghidorah's Wings, now flying at supersonic speeds, surged toward the railgun array. Their closer proximity allowed them to more precisely locate and target the weapons.

Beams of destruction obliterated nearly ten more railguns. Now, only six remained.

These final six railguns loaded their ammunition for one last barrage. Aiming directly at the heads of the approaching Ghidorah's Wings, they fired a final salvo—delivering humanity's defiant roar.
