Chapter 135 - Volume 2 Chapter 78: Monster - Ghidorah's Wings

Volume 2 Chapter 78: Monster - Ghidorah's Wings

The remaining Ghidorah's Wings were devouring steel.

Melting the steel into molten iron and then swallowing it, the speed at which they consumed was astonishing! They quickly consumed all the wreckage left behind from their destruction. On average, each of the ten Ghidorah's Wings consumed nearly 200,000 tons of material.

What were they doing?

Humanity could not tell, but the ominous feeling was undeniable.

"Deploy more nuclear weapons via SkyNet! Quickly!"

Everyone felt an unsettling premonition. Following General Zhang's orders, the operators relayed commands to increase the number of nuclear warheads deployed by SkyNet.

Above the ruins of what was once Beijing, devoid of electromagnetic cannon defenses, nuclear missiles rained down. This time, the Ghidorah's Wings standing guard didn't use small beams of laser to intercept the missiles.

They adopted a new method.

Instead of precise laser beams, the mouths of the Ghidorah's Wings glowed with energy, unleashing tera-scale radiation beams. Their targets, however, were not the incoming missiles in the sky but the ground below.

A nearby hill exploded as several Ghidorah's Wings unleashed full-power blasts. The unending stream of beams vaporized the earth, causing it to shatter.

Boom!

In mere seconds, the ground erupted, the mountain peak disintegrated, and a massive fireball rose above the mushroom cloud. The resulting energy was equivalent to the explosion of nearly ten kilotons of TNT. A massive shockwave swept outward.

High-speed nuclear missiles in the air were knocked out by the shockwave, and for several minutes, the area within several kilometers was rendered impenetrable to incoming warheads.

This new tactic was both effective and energy-intensive but proved worth the cost.

While the few Ghidorah's Wings stood guard, the others continued their feast. After consuming tens of thousands of tons of steel, their bodies began undergoing changes that were incomprehensible to humanity.

Indeed, humanity's earlier foreboding had come true.

The Ghidorah's Wings were healing.

A few hundred kilometers away, surveillance satellites captured images of the changes.

The golden scales, once marred by wounds inflicted by various weapons, were rapidly regenerating. While the naked eye might not detect the speed of their recovery due to distance, a series of photos compared by computer analysis revealed undeniable results:

The gaping holes in their wings were closing, and the deep gouges in their necks and bodies were being filled. The Ghidorah's Wings were regenerating at an incredible speed. Within their bodies, the steel they consumed was being reprocessed and transformed into high-pressure phase materials—the kind that once formed Godzilla's armor—filling in their damaged areas.

Muscle, wing membranes, and even exoskeletal armor were being restored.

The golden appearance of the creatures began to take on other hues. These extraterrestrial entities were not just recovering but evolving.

Deep underground, commanders across East Asia and the world looked on grimly at this regeneration process.

Despite SkyNet's saturated strikes, all incoming nuclear missiles were intercepted by the Ghidorah's Wings. The shockwaves they generated made it impossible for the missiles to reach their target zones. Conducting dense nuclear strikes in the atmosphere proved to be a logistical nightmare, as the resulting shockwaves prevented follow-up attacks.

Humanity could do nothing to halt the transformation. They could only watch as the Ghidorah's Wings' bodies regenerated at an astonishing pace.

The war rooms in East Asia and elsewhere erupted into chaos, as did legislative chambers worldwide.

No one had foreseen that such creatures could regenerate at such a rapid rate, and it wasn't just regeneration—they were becoming stronger.

The Ghidorah's Wings that consumed the remains of electromagnetic cannons flew to another location with similar wreckage. Under the protection of their companions, the ten regenerating Ghidorah's Wings landed and began consuming more wreckage.

Millions of tons of steel were ingested, refined internally through an unknown high-pressure process into the same high-pressure iron that once armored Godzilla. This material was then distributed throughout their bodies via fine internal pathways, repairing and reinforcing their forms.

Feasting and growing, their appearance began to change. The radiant golden light shifted to a silvery-white gleam.

Their weight exceeded a million tons, and it didn't stop there.

The new high-pressure iron alloy granted them new armor. From the initial act of feasting to their rebirth, only one to two hours had passed.

The ten Ghidorah's Wings, now encased in steel armor, soared above the ruins of Beijing. The previous need for protection from their companions was no longer necessary—these newly reborn beasts could defend themselves.

Their new abilities began to manifest.

Crack!

Boom!

Zap!

In the clear daylight sky, lightning suddenly struck.

Thunder ripped through the air, and lightning bolts danced around the Ghidorah's Wings. It was as if they had summoned a thunderstorm, despite the lack of rain.

"RAWRRR!!!"

The ten Ghidorah's Wings roared, and as they did, their companions joined them. The fully regenerated monsters demonstrated the full extent of their terrifying power.

Simultaneously, across the globe, at the sites where Ghidorah's Wings had previously been killed or incinerated—

The dead began to rise again.
