Volume 2 Chapter 79: Kaiser Ghidorah
On the lands of Yanjing, as ten Ghidorah's Wings successfully completed their metamorphosis, the remaining three also began their transformation.
The interception of nuclear weapons was no longer their responsibility; instead, the fully evolved beings took over. Nuclear weapons could no longer get close. Now, the East Asia Monster combat command base had begun mobilizing all robotic and unmanned forces across the region to head for Yanjing and stop the ongoing metamorphosis.
Everyone had a foreboding sense of catastrophe—just the fact that the Ghidorah's Wings could undergo ultra-regeneration was already bad enough. The situation must not be allowed to deteriorate further. The injured Ghidorah's Wings had to be eliminated before they could fully regenerate.
But what humanity lacked most was time.
The three Ghidorah's Wings began their transformation amid the ruins of Yanjing. Unlike the previous ten, these three did not consume steel. What they were devouring... was themselves.
Yes, after completing their self-healing, the three Ghidorah's Wings began to cannibalize each other. They flew to shallow waters and used their laser beams to melt each other's abdomens. Then, without hesitation, they plunged their heads into the molten wounds of their counterparts.
The three Ghidorah's Wings lay motionless, seemingly lifeless. But humanity refused to believe they could die so easily.
What were they doing? No one knew, but one thing was clear—they had to be annihilated!
The bodies of the three Ghidorah's Wings gradually blurred. This transformation was incomprehensible compared to the previous ones.
Some of the ten fully transformed Ghidorah's Wings stopped intercepting nuclear weapons and instead began scavenging relatively intact railgun wreckage. Like feeding baby birds, they carried the largest steel fragments in their mouths and placed them onto the bodies of the fallen Ghidorah's Wings.
The steel melted and was absorbed into the bodies, and with more and more steel being delivered, the pile of materials grew.
Millions of tons of steel were heaped atop the fallen Ghidorah's Wings, forming a small mountain that obscured their figures. Yet, through thermal imaging, a scorching mass inside the steel mound was expanding.
What was it? What could it be?
Humanity didn't know and didn't want to find out. Their only goal was to destroy it before it emerged.
However, the Ghidorah's Wings prevented this. Their intelligence seemed to have evolved further post-transformation. Instead of intercepting nuclear missiles directly, they now employed a new method—focusing highly concentrated, high-power lasers from multiple angles to ignite the incoming nukes' core materials, triggering a chain reaction.
This method caused the nuclear warheads to self-detonate, sending shockwaves outward and detonating the surrounding warheads.
This innovative approach rendered nuclear weapons completely ineffective against them.
Ten Ghidorah's Wings soared above Yanjing, while those stationed in the west and east returned from the Bering Strait and the Volga River.
Instead of undergoing individual transformations, they flew to the steel mound where the three dead Ghidorah's Wings lay and encased it, mirroring the way they had once formed an artificial sun in space.
They extended their necks into the steel heap, incorporating themselves into the evolution process.
One hour… two hours…
The nuclear fireballs continued to light up the skies over Yanjing, but they inflicted no damage.
The steel pile began to take shape, gradually forming into a colossal sphere, hundreds of meters high, resembling an egg as if something within was about to hatch.
Nuclear weapons could no longer get close, and the railguns were too far away. Humanity had lost control of Yanjing.
Worse yet, reports of disconnected railguns at the front lines surfaced.
"All railgun stations in the Pearl River Delta have gone silent? How is that possible?"
"The satellites show they are intact! What happened?"
"North America and Europe are experiencing the same issues? Some of their railguns are completely offline? What's going on?"
"What? The Ghidorah's Wings' corpses have disappeared? But we obliterated them with nuclear strikes! And now you're telling me that, according to satellite imagery, they're all gone?"
"Don't tell me those things can come back to life after being vaporized!"
Reports flooded the command center from all over—North America, Europe, and East Asia—all filled with chilling news. Ghidorah's Wings' corpses vanishing, railguns losing contact, and unidentified golden lifeforms captured by satellites.
In just a few hours, the battlefield had completely reversed.
And no one knew why.
No one knew what would happen next.
Back in Yanjing, the colossal egg had fully formed, standing over 400 meters tall, composed of superconducting materials, steel, and the remains of several Ghidorah's Wings.
Silver and gold intertwined across its surface, and something inside was preparing to hatch.
The ten Ghidorah's Wings circled it. On the seventh hour after the three Ghidorah's Wings' deaths, as the second day's daylight dawned—
Boom... Boom... Boom...
BANG!!!
The egg burst open.
Emerging from within was a brand-new life form.
A being beyond human comprehension.
A true Ghidorah, not just a Ghidorah's Wings.
Its name was Kaiser.
It was the ruler of the Earth.
On Venus, King Ghidorah who is basking in its storms looked toward the blue planet.
It already knew the outcome.
