Chapter 36 - Wake me up from this

Riley

A week later.

This is bullsh*t! This has to be a nightmare! Yeah, because there's just no way that Rhea is actually related to my parents. Who am I kidding, the DNA tests said the same thing.

There is a 99.9999% match between Rhea and my parents, Jasmine and Vincent. And me? There is no match whatsoever between my parents and I.

In short, my parents aren't actually my biological parents. Rather, they are Rhea's biological parents. Just wake me up from this nightmare, will you?!

It's been a week ever since the DNA results came out. My parents haven't said a word. Absolutely nothing. It's driving me crazy. I have so many questions. Did they know the truth? If they did, why hide it from me. What'll happen to me now? Am I still their daughter? This revelation has made me so paranoid and anxious with the numerous questions that keep running in my mind. I don't like feeling this way.

Meanwhile, a certain someone moved into my parents' home the moment the DNA results were confirmed. I guess, she has the right to do that since she's the real daughter of the Sinclair family. She's really made herself comfortable.

I'm just glad that I no longer live with my parents. Otherwise, I don't think I'd bear it. Seeing her face everyday and not wish something bad should happen to her. I just don't like her. I despise her. She's the reason I'm now being labelled as the fake daughter. News travels fast. In no time, during this crazy week, the paparazzi have spread the news that I'm the fake daughter of the Sinclair family. The news is making headlines and trending as the most searched on the entertainment and gossip tabloids.

But, I still don't get it. If Rhea already knew that she was the real daughter, where was she all this time? Why did she choose to come with this revelation now?

I switched my phone back on. A bunch of notifications flooded my phone. It continued vibrating non-stop.

"Hey." I looked up from my phone to see Xavier coming out from the bathroom.

He approached me, after he had just finished taking a shower, getting ready for bed. We were currently at my penthouse.

I sighed. "What if this is just a bad dream?"

Xavier joined me in bed, entering the covers. "That's what I'm also hoping for." He kissed my forehead. "I'm sorry about all this, baby."

I leaned into Xavier's embrace. We comfortably lay down on the bed, as we were cuddled up together. Sleep soon caught up with me. Being this close to Xavier brings a level of warmth and comfort I never want to lose.
