"I will warn you one last time, Evelyn. Watch your words," Kael said, his tone menacing.
"You do know that Stephanie is alive, right? Your mom called Andrew and told him. They're planning a huge welcome-home-slash-engagement party for her and for you. You don't have to settle for second best anymore."
Kael released me and stepped toward Evelyn, his movements sharp, predatory. He looked ready to attack, but Brady quickly moved between them. Evelyn clung to Brady, crying again.
Kael ordered him to step aside. Brady refused.
"She's pregnant, Kael."
"I'm not going to hurt her, Brady," Kael growled. "But I'm also not letting her sit here and disrespect Astrid without consequences."
"Please, calm down, Kael," Brady pleaded.
Suddenly, Charlotte slapped Brady hard across the face. He froze, stunned, his expression pained.
"What was that for?" he demanded.
