Chapter 251: Execution
"N-no…" Voldemort didn't recall the last time he felt afraid of someone, but when he saw her walking toward him with that cleaver in hand, he knew his situation was desperate.
"I refuse to die here!" The Dark Lord aimed his wand at Ultima.
"Fiendfyre!"
A massive snake made of dark flames manifested in front of him, acting like a protective barrier, preventing her approach.
He then wasted no time in fixing his leg, just as he did with his missing hand.
"Ghh!..." Gritting his teeth through the painful process, Voldemort tried to analyze the situation.
But no matter how much he thought about it, this was just too ridiculous.
He had no idea where Potter had gotten this monster from or how she was able to have such power. However, at this point, even he had to admit having been outclassed.
Behind him, no more than thirty feet away, was one of the pillars. All he had to do was cross it and Apparate away from here.
His opponent was still trying to get rid of his Fiendfyre construct. This was his chance. Ignoring the pain, he stood up, tensed his muscles, and ran as fast as he could.
In less than a second, he arrived at the barrier. Using all his might, he attacked it with a combination of physical strength and magic.
The pillar shook, and the translucent filaments that held the barrier together bent under the pressure.
But that was as far as it went, before returning to its normal state.
"What?!" Much to his shock, the barrier withstood the assault. Not even a single crack appeared on the pillar. "Impossible! What is this thing?!"
"Nyxaris made that by exhausting all her magic," Ultima told him. "You are not breaking it."
Voldemort turned around and saw the girl standing a short distance away. The fiery snake was nowhere to be seen, and she looked to be completely unscathed. "What… are you?"
"I am Ultima." She offered the same unsatisfying answer as before.
"Tsk…" Feeling extremely frustrated and enraged, Voldemort flicked his wand in her direction, pouring all his hatred into his magic. "Avada Kedavra!"
The Dark Lord expected Ultima to make use of her superior speed to avoid the curse and was ready for it.
But instead, he saw her charge directly at the green flash of light.
The Unforgivable Curse hit her chest. It was a clean hit.
And it didn't even manage to slow her down.
"Impossible!" Voldemort was too shocked to react in time as she got in front of him, sword in hand.
The Dark Lord would never come to understand why his curse didn't work, because he had no way to know that Ultima was not a human with a normal soul that the curse could separate from her body, making her incredibly resistant to this type of attack.
And if that wasn't enough, the protection of the Divine Armor would guarantee that she suffered no damage whatsoever.
Voldemort saw the golden blade rise above his head before coming down in a vertical slash, but his body was too slow to react in time.
However, even during his last seconds, his eyes still held hope. Because he had long prepared for such a scenario.
'The Horcruxes!' Voldemort remembers. He couldn't complete the seven, just as he originally intended, but he still had more than enough of them to prevent his complete death.
He went through a lot of difficulties to create them and hid them in well-secured spots, leaving instructions for his few remaining followers to guarantee his return in the future.
'I will be back!' He was thinking about that as the blade cleaved his body in twain.
It may take him years or even decades, but time was on his side. One day, he would return to the realm of the living, and he would make them all pay. Especially the Potters and that sword-wielding monster.
Unfortunately for Voldemort, that would never come to be. James had already destroyed all the pieces of his soul that he had stored away.
Had he known this, he would have hesitated before venturing into the Potters' castle.
But being completely unaware, the Dark Lord walked into his own execution with a smile on his face.
"Haa!" Once Ultima had cut him in two, she continued slashing with her sword at lightning speed, turning the Dark Lord's body into small chunks of meat and bone.
She did not stop until what remained looked more like minced meat than a person.
"It is done, Master…" She said it mostly to herself.
"Mmm?" As she turned around and scanned the rest of the field, Ultima spotted Primum on the other side.
The chimera was walking around a smoking pile of remnants that had been dissolved beyond recognition.
"Primum… you didn't leave any for me." She could not help but say it, feeling somewhat dissatisfied by the fact that her companion had killed dozens of the intruders while she was busy with a single one.
As if he could read her thoughts, Primum stopped his pacing and looked at her, before flying to her side. "Kyu!"
Ultima frowned. "I am aware it was the leader, but…" She stopped speaking all of a sudden.
"Nyxaris?." During the fight, she had not paid much attention to their mental connection, but now that the distractions were gone, she did just that and realized that despite exhausting her magic, the fairy never left the sky.
"Kyu!" Primum's tone changed to one of wariness. Just like Ultima, the chimera had detected that they had one more intruder, and they were currently holding Nyxaris in their hands.
Ultima jumped on top of Primum, her power manifested again, creating a golden aura that enveloped them both. "Bring me up there!."
Not wasting a second, Primum launched into the air and flew directly to the gigantic black crow, and the woman standing on top.
