The one filled with the most disdain was naturally Thor.
The Thor who had come with Noah.
He couldn't stand watching the version of himself shown in the vision. That wasn't the God of Thunder. That was a lazy, useless shell with none of the charisma a God of Thunder was supposed to have.
Meanwhile, the "fat" Thor watching the same scene couldn't help but feel envy.
Pure envy.
He truly envied the Thor of this parallel universe.
This Thor had completely changed his life's trajectory.
He had Noah as a close friend. With that friend's help, he had understood his own power early on. With that same help, his mother had survived. He had even obtained a new weapon ahead of time.
The "fat" Thor envied all of it.
Sometimes, he couldn't help wondering why his own universe didn't have a sorcerer like Noah Finnell.
If it had...
Maybe he wouldn't have experienced so many crushing moments.
This version of Thor wouldn't see Asgard destroyed.
Wouldn't watch his brother die in front of him.
Wouldn't witness Thanos slaughter half of Asgard's people.
With a quiet sigh, the "fat" Thor looked away.
He decided to face his own problems.
And he also had a bolder idea forming in his mind-one he temporarily suppressed, planning to bring it up after everyone was resurrected.
Thor's team had completed their mission.
Next was Rhodey, Nebula, Hawkeye, and Black Widow.
They split up.
One team went for the Power Stone.
The other went for the Soul Stone.
The Power Stone retrieval was straightforward. Rhodey knocked out a certain idiot with a single punch.
Rocket Raccoon looked both happy and a little sad watching that scene.
When they reached the Soul Stone, the truth finally became clear.
Natasha and Barton competed to sacrifice themselves.
In the end, Black Widow won.
She gave her life so Hawkeye could obtain the Soul Stone.
The room fell silent.
Especially Barton.
He lowered his head, his eyes red.
The pain he was enduring was obvious.
But soon, he looked up at Noah with anticipation.
"You can resurrect her, right?"
"Her soul is in my hand, so of course I can," Noah replied calmly. "But a sorcerer isn't a creator. I can't conjure a body out of nothing. That part is on you."
He spread his hands.
And said nothing more.
Noah also needed to seriously consider whether to alter some of the footage before releasing it.
Nebula was the real headache.
During the Power Stone mission, Nebula had drawn Thanos's attention.
Everyone present had seen it.
After a brief thought, Noah directly restrained Nebula, who had been hiding behind the crowd.
His action immediately caused unease among the Avengers.
"Don't say anything," Noah said, cutting them off before anyone could speak. "Watch first."
The Avengers nodded and continued watching in silence.
What followed matched their curiosity perfectly.
All the Infinity Stones were gathered.
But that also created a hidden danger.
Nebula's presence attracted the attention of a Thanos from another universe.
Because of her unique body, that Thanos learned everything.
He replicated their time-travel technology.
And came over himself.
The room fell silent for a long time.
But remembering Noah's warning, no one spoke.
They watched as the Hulk snapped his fingers and revived those who had turned to dust.
Joy spread across their faces.
Then-
A massive missile obliterated that joy instantly.
A furious, fully corrupted Thanos descended.
The final battle unfolded.
Chaos.
Desperation.
And then-
Tony seized the Infinity Stones.
One snap.
Thanos and his army vanished.
Iron Man fell.
The screen froze.
"What the f*ck?" Tony stared at the frozen image of his dead self. "I died?"
"Mm." Noah nodded, hands still spread. He hadn't altered anything.
"If I hadn't intervened, that would've been your last fight."
"Born great. Died gloriously."
"Why didn't Strange use the Time Stone to save me?" Tony snapped.
Noah shrugged again.
How would he know?
Maybe Strange didn't like him.
Maybe there could only be one Holmes in the Marvel universe.
Maybe Pepper bribed him.
Or maybe Strange himself panicked.
That raised finger might not have meant "one chance" at all.
"Maybe he was stunned by your stupidity," Noah said lightly. "That finger might've meant Thanos's ship was destroyed and grounded, so you should've taken the Stones and flown away."
"Or taken just one Stone."
"Or handed them to Captain Marvel, who could actually handle the backlash."
"... "
"But you thought the only option was snapping."
"So you snapped."
"And died."
"And he was scared stiff by you."
"... "
"Of course," Noah added, "it could also be that the Infinity Gauntlet's backlash made time reversal impossible."
Tony fell silent.
He felt drained.
He desperately wanted to know why his alternate self had such a good relationship with this guy.
Turning his head, he saw the message left for Morgan.
His eyes stung.
This sorcerer even knew about that?
Watching his own funeral.
Seeing the arc reactor drift down the river with Tony had a heart of gold engraved on it-
Tony closed his eyes.
If placed in that situation...
After thinking it through, he realized he probably would've made the same choice.
That realization made it worse.
He didn't want to keep watching.
"Can you turn it off?"
"Why?" Noah tilted his head. "It's not over yet."
After all, Steve still had his dance.
Sure enough, when the Avengers returned the Stones, another accident occurred.
Steve disappeared.
Steve Rogers frowned.
He already knew.
That was likely his future.
And then-
Bucky noticed the Steve who had been sitting quietly all along.
Everyone did.
An old man.
After a brief conversation-passing the shield to Sam Wilson-Captain America left.
The scene shifted.
Steve went back.
Found Peggy Carter.
Finished the dance he never completed.
The movie ended.
The impact didn't.
Especially the fact that Thanos came from another universe.
That was unacceptable.
Attention immediately shifted to Nebula, still restrained by Noah.
The thought was unanimous.
Kill her.
"No." Captain America rejected it instantly. "The real Nebula is still in Thanos's hands. If Thanos doesn't come over, we can't save our comrade."
"But..." Rhodey hesitated. "That's Thanos. He's even more dangerous than the one in the footage."
That thought echoed through the room.
Even after seeing Thanos defeated, they remembered the cost.
"But Nebula is our teammate," Steve said firmly. "We don't abandon anyone."
"But-"
"Let's vote."
The argument stalled.
A vote was the only option.
At least then they'd know where everyone stood.
None of this mattered to Noah.
To him, the vote was a joke.
Why was he here?
To deal with Thanos.
If that achieved the goal, what the Avengers thought was irrelevant.
If you can beat him, what's the problem?
Smiling, Noah left the room.
Thor and Loki followed.
Tomorrow would be troublesome.
They would face Thanos.
When they reached their rooms, Thor suddenly spoke.
"If it weren't for you... would our world really end up like this?"
Noah tilted his head.
"I don't want to say it," he replied, "but the probability is high."
"And honestly, I have a feeling we'll face our universe's Thanos eventually anyway."
"So..." Loki picked it up smoothly. "To avoid that future-"
"We train now," Noah finished. "Hard."
Loki nodded.
Then Noah added casually, "You're actually pretty lucky."
"Huh?"
"The you in this universe is already dead."
"Damn it," Loki snapped. "Can you stop saying that? And if they resurrected so many people, why didn't they resurrect me?"
Noah shrugged.
"God knows if you were resurrected."
"Maybe you just ran off somewhere and hid."
