Time rewinds to moments ago.
"Just one more step."
Standing on the staircase, the fox said anxiously, "We can't get to the last step."
"We are missing one stone."
Yu'er spoke, "I know where that stone is!"
It had watched the sun for millions of years.
Every moment of the sun presented itself before its eyes, and over the long stretch of time, the sun's position was always different, pervading through and connecting the karma of all beings.
Yu'er connected all the suns in its memory to form its true shape.
All the light, past, present, and future, connected together into a line in Yu'er's mind.
It gazed at the sun.
"I know what you are."
Yu'er said, "You are a staff."
A ray of light appeared ahead, about to take shape.
"Yes, you are a staff!"
Yu'er shouted again.
The last stone emerged suspended in the infinite expanse of the staircase.
Yu'er looked at it, without hesitation, leaped onto it facing the lightning.
"You are not the sun; you are a staff!"
