Chapter 235 - Chapter 234: Thor's Hammer

Countless people launched night raids, infiltrated strongholds, used bribery and seduction—all for one thing: news about the Demon King.

And finally, they got it—a single photo.

In the picture, the Demon King was wearing a breathing mask, immersed in a pool filled with a limb-regenerating solution.

The wounds on his body had begun to heal slightly compared to before.

In an underground chamber completely cut off from all internet signals, a group of people gathered in secret.

"Do you think it's real or fake?"

"It's probably real. There's definitely a power struggle within the Demon Group—two factions fighting for the throne. No ruler would tolerate this situation."

"Besides, we haven't made any moves yet. The Demon King can't possibly know about our existence. This might be our only chance."

"Let's vote. Do we kill the Demon King or continue to lay low?"

"Agree!"

"Disagree!"

"Disagree!"

Demon Group Underground Laboratory

Tom and Frank stared intently at the computer screen, where countless live feeds flickered—underground chambers, elite gatherings, gang hideouts, black market trading hubs, and terrorist camps.

"Dr. Zola, have you identified them yet?" Frank asked.

A face appeared on the screen.

"Of course. My bio-soldier confirmed their identities the moment he infiltrated the meeting. Fools—they thought cutting the internet and wearing masks would make them untraceable."

Dr. Zola's voice dripped with pride. These findings would serve as stepping stones for his promotion. All of it, for the sake of the great leader.

"What should we do—keep watching or wipe them out?" Frank turned to Tom.

"Eliminate them. The rest are old foxes—they won't slip up easily. You handle the gang side. I'll take care of those rich bastards. 'Accidental deaths' suit them. The only tricky part is who inherits their wealth."

Tom adjusted his glasses, the gleam in his eyes cold. Many familiar faces had appeared on the screen.

Meanwhile

The "Four Little Ones" sneaked in quietly.

"Xiaoyu, are we really doing the right thing?" Penny asked nervously, although her face showed signs of excitement.

Xiaoyu's eyes sparkled with excitement as she rebutted, "We're not stealing anything. Don't you want to see the inside of the Demon Group?"

"Spaceships, mysterious potions, super cool weapons!"

"But I could've just asked Dad to take me. Or even Lorna-jie could," Nina said, tilting her head.

"Yeah, I could've asked my dad too," Penny agreed.

Xiaoyu pouted, then put on a serious expression.

"If we ask them, that proves we're still kids. But we've grown up—we should act on our own. Just like the X-Men. We need our own name. Let's be... Demon Squad. Damian, what do you think?"

"I'm fine with whatever," Damian replied, glancing away from a surveillance camera in the corner.

"Then let's go! First mission of Demon Squad: Explore the Demon Group!" Xiaoyu declared, pointing dramatically ahead.

Behind her, Penny and Nina cheered excitedly.

Damian sighed. No one had stopped them yet—this was probably tacit approval. He'd just treat it like a tour.

The four crept low through the hallways of the Demon Group headquarters.

Suddenly, rapid footsteps echoed ahead. Xiaoyu quickly gestured for silence, and the kids darted into a nearby room.

When the footsteps faded, Xiaoyu let out a breath and whispered, "Looks like the security's tighter than we thought."

Damian twitched his mouth. They'd been spotted from the start, obviously.

"Xiaoyu, look!" Nina suddenly called out.

In the center of the room was a metal platform—on it rested a giant iron hammer.

"That's the bad guy's hammer, right? I remember—it can summon lightning!" Penny exclaimed after thinking for a moment.

"Lightning?! So if we take it, maybe we can use it too!" Nina's eyes lit up at the thought of wielding lightning like a superhero.

"It says here: 'Mjölnir, the most powerful weapon. My strength comes from it.'" Xiaoyu read aloud from the inscription.

"You can read that language?" Damian asked in surprise.

He never expected lazy Xiaoyu to know other languages. Honestly, he thought it was just decorative script.

"I don't actually know it... but somehow I felt what it meant. It also says, 'Whoever lifts this hammer, if they are worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.'"

Xiaoyu stared at the hammer, puzzled. Why could she understand this?

"Let me try!" Nina stepped up, grabbed the hammer handle, and pulled with all her might.

"Be careful! Don't fall!" Penny said, worried.

"I got it—nngghh!" Nina grunted and strained, but the hammer didn't budge. It felt like it was rooted into the earth itself.

"Whoa!" she suddenly slipped and fell backward.

"Nina! Are you okay?" Xiaoyu asked anxiously.

"I'm fine. It didn't even hurt. My dad gave me this outfit—it absorbs impact." Nina stood up and patted her clothes.

The back of her outfit shimmered with a faint purple light where it had hit the floor.

"Good, I'm glad you're not hurt," Xiaoyu said with relief. She would've felt terrible if anyone got hurt because of this adventure.

"Looks like I can't lift it. You guys give it a try."

Xiaoyu and Penny nodded—they wanted to know if they were worthy too.

But no luck.

"If we can't lift it, let's just head back," Damian suggested, seeing they'd all tried.

"But Damian, you haven't tried yet!"

"Yeah, Damian, come on!"

"What if you are the worthy one?"

The three girls pushed Damian toward the hammer.

Damian sighed again, walked up, and casually pulled on the handle.

Buzz!

A soft hum echoed.

The hammer lifted—slowly but surely.

"Whoa! Damian really is the worthy one!" Nina's eyes sparkled.

"Does this mean Damian is Thor now?" Penny asked, wide-eyed at the giant hammer now in his hand.

"Try shooting lightning, Damian!" Xiaoyu encouraged him.

"This isn't mine. I'll test it, but I won't use it." Damian's eyes flashed with desire, but after a moment, he carefully placed Mjölnir back onto the platform.

If Pamela-mama found out he stole something, she'd be furious.

Maybe he could borrow it from his godfather sometime.

"I've tried. Our mission's over. Time to leave."

"Aww, okay."

"Such a pity."

"I wanted to see more..."

The trio muttered in disappointment.

Damian led them back the way they came.

As they turned a corner, he spotted a familiar figure.

"Isn't that Hela?"

"That's her."

"Our teacher?"

"Shhh—"

Penny was just about to call out when Xiaoyu covered her mouth.

"Don't shout. Let's sneak after her."

Xiaoyu's eyes sparkled with excitement. What kind of face would Hela make if they jumped out and scared her?

Damian was equally curious. Why was their teacher here?

Quote of the Chapter:"Worthy is not defined by power, but by the will to wield it responsibly."
