[Ding: You have died]
Almost sounded like a good thing...
Jake looked at the red transparent screen in front of him confused more than anything. He didn't know how and why he is in a space of pure white. "AHH! FUCK!" His head feeling as if it was being crushed. Suddenly the memories of the day before popped into his head.
The day before:
"Jake wake up its already 10 am!" Amber, screamed from downstairs. "Its only 10 she means." Jake mumbled spreading his whole body across the bed to stretch. Slowly getting up, he made his way downstairs and saw his mother Amber in the kitchen cooking up a storm. Amber while in her mid-forties still had a clear face, and just lightly faded red hair which made her seem very funny when she got angry, as her face turned to the same color as her hair. "Take Max for a walk, then you can have breakfast." Amber smirked like a villain.
Upon hearing this, Jake's whole body stiffened "its my birthday and your blackmailing me already?" That's right Jake turned 16 today, thinking he would get free passes all of today, just to be proven wrong in the span of five minutes.
"Come on Maxxy, lets go." Jake looked at the German Shepherd, which was staring back at Jake happily. Jake put the harness on the dog thinking it was a bit loose, but good enough to take him on a few more walks before needing to buy a new one. Jake strolled down the footpath, next to a busy road enjoying the atmosphere on this sunny day. SNAP! Jake looked down at the loud noise and saw the harness which he thought should be alright, snapped. Being proven to be wrong twice already. Almost with the same though Max looked at his owner. Jake knew at that moment what the dog was thinking, "MAX N-" Max sprinted down the street without a care in this world, enjoying his long last freedom.
"Damn Dog" Jake sprinted after him as fast as he could with no avail, the dog was too fast. Then, Jake thought of another idea. "Max, I have a treat." Upon hearing this, the dog stopped almost instantly, turning around at this delightful surprise. Jake smirked almost the same as his mother, knowing he was fooling this dog "Not a single thought behind those eyes, huh."
Slowly making his way towards Max knowing if he moved suddenly the dog would start sprinting again, he approached Max. Just as he was about to catch him, a loud squeaky noise rang from across the street grabbing the attention of the good boy. Max sprinted onto the road. Jake seeing this, realizing there was a white truck heading down the road at incredulous speed, the driver obviously not paying attention to the road.
Jake without a second thought sprinted behind Max "MAX!" hearing this worried sound from his owner, Max turned in the middle of the road giving enough time for Jake to push the dog. BAM. The truck hit Jake making him skid along the road and then come to a complete stop. Jake coughed, blood coming out, his body not being able to the move, every time he tried moving his arms. It felt as his skin would stick onto the road. Jake closed his eyes.
I hope Max didn't get hit
Jake heard the sounds of people, shrieking and a few asking people to call the police. Jake pondered as to why they didn't call the police themselves. Just as he was about to close his eyes he heard a whimper. Using whatever strength left in his body he turned to see Max hitting his arm with his nose. The dog obviously knowing his owner was hurt badly, kept whimpering and nudging his arm. The nudging obviously hurt like a motherfucker, but Jake just looked at the dog and smiled softly. "Damn Dog" with that Jake closed his eyes.
Back to the white space:
Jake's head while hurting lightly felt as if it was back to normal. Suddenly he heard a authoritative but serene voice coming from behind him. Whipping his head around, Jake saw a man surrounded by a white light, standing tall and looking like a gentle grandfather. Jake thought that this man looked like Gandalf after becoming Gandalf the White.
"Hello Jake." The man warmly smiled, making Jake feel at ease.
"Who are you? Where am I?" Jake wasn't an idiot he guessed this is like median before Heaven or something but he would rather be sure than just relying on his own guess.
"This is sort of like a median before Heaven but not completely." The old man replied, almost like he could read Jake's mind.
"Almost?"
"Well, I believe the world owes you another chance, Jake. Most people wouldn't have selflessly sacrifice their life for another human let alone an animal." The man looked at Jake with pride, almost like looking at his grandson.
"Another chance, huh? So am I going to be born again?" Jake couldn't help but feel excited with all the novels and manhwas he's read, this felt like a dream come true.
"You will be, you will be born in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!" The old man said with enthusiasm.
Jake's eyes widened, he wouldn't admit it but he loved Harry Potter. He's watched all the movies countless times, even buying a fake wand on one occasion.
"You seem excited Jake. Good because, I am sending you there now, i only delayed it to talk to you." The old man smiled
"I'm ready" Jake said with false confidence, as excited as he was. He was still feeling nervous as this was a lot to take in.
"I'll be watching your career with great interest, Jake." The old man smiled at the boy's false bravado.
[If you know the reference your a real one...hehehe]
Before Jake could say anything, darkness fell over his eyes.
