Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Magicless?

August 10th, 1990

England, London

St. John Orphanage

In the darkness of night, the moon highlighted its light on a field of grass.

You could see a ten year old boy, with sweat dripping down his face onto the grass below him. A boy which was tall for his age, with jet black hair and eyes that were emerald green shining in the moonlight matching his fair brown skin wonderfully.

Lumen groaned. Doing strenuous exercise, it seemed as if he was pushing himself to the brink of passing out. Finally, when stopping he climbed up an ladder leading to a room with 3 bunk beds. Hearing the subtle noise of snoring from the children who were asleep, Lumen made his way to the shared bathroom, cleaning himself up.

Looking at himself in the mirror, Lumen had a well-toned body for a ten year old, he looked deeply in his eyes and thought back to when he first arrived at the orphanage as a newborn child. Dropped in front of the orphanage, with a simple note saying "Lumen." In the ten years he's been here, Lumen hasn't done anything magical at all.

"Maybe I'm a muggle!? Stupid old man." Lumen looked up cursing his words at the ceiling.

Lumen thought back to his past life watching the movies, even Harry Potter did some magical things before getting the letter, he made the glass disappear at the snake exhibit. While Lumen has not even done a simple magic trick in the ten years he has been trying. Lumen wondered many things, wondered if he was just reincarnated into this world so the old man can have a laugh at him.

Lumen decided not to think about it too much otherwise he's going to just get angry again, walking back to his shared room, he quietly stepped in and got underneath the blankets. Hoping the next day would be better.

The Next Morning

Lumen did his morning workout along with studying, he had decided that if he did not possess magic yet, he'd devote himself to studying and athletics instead.

"I need to note down everything I remember from the movies"

Lumen decided to note down moments he could remember from the movies, clearly writing all the important things from the starting movies and the ending movies, only getting confused about exactly what happened in the movies in the middle. Lumen smiled to himself and thought how stupid it was that in some novels the protagonists always managed to remember every detail from their past life or from the things they read.

Time Slowly Passed

August 18th 1991

It had been a year, Lumen had turned 11 and it had been a fruitful year. He managed to show an aptitude for magic when he, accidentally lifted up some rocks while meditating. Lumen started meditating thinking of the cultivation manhwas he read in his past life, rather than Lumen having ki or something along those lines. Lumen was able to lift the small rocks when his mind was at peace. Since then, Lumen has been training everyday, now being able to throw a fist sized rock with just a wave of his hand.

Lumen woke up, starting his morning workout and studies again. When suddenly, he was called by the headmistress of the orphanage. Lumen walked towards the Headmistresses office, a bit nervous but showing a confident demeanor.

Knock Knock

"Come in." The Headmistress answered towards the closed door in a louder voice, still keeping her eyes glued on the paperwork she was currently attending to.

The door creaked open slowly, behind it a boy who was as tall as a thirteen year old walked in with a indifferent expression.

"You asked for me Headmistress?"

"Ah yes, Lumen how are you?" The headmistress looked up at the boy's emerald green eyes with a soft smile.

"Good, Miss and you?" The boy replied courteously.

"I'm fine, thank you for asking. I called you in here today because we were sent an envelope containing your name, and an emblem of what seems to be a school. Hog- Hogwarts, it says." The Headmistress trying to read it, struggling even with glasses.

Lumen kept his indifferent expression, but on the inside was elated. He had been waiting for this moment for a long time. "Thank you miss, its a boarding school I've applied to and it seems they have accepted" making up a lie as to not be suspected.

"Your sure you want to go to this Hogwarts School?" The Headmistress looked worriedly and rightfully so, getting a letter from a random school she has never heard of is enough to make anyone worried.

"I'm sure Miss!" with that confident expression of interest, the Headmistress seemed to relax a bit, trusting the child in front of her, she knows Lumen has always excelled in academics along with athletics, knowing that he wouldn't choose a sketchy school.

A few days later

Lumen had packed up his bags and got into a taxi with a letter from his former orphanage brothers and sisters, the Headmistress also put five hundred pounds into an envelope feeling as if she would not see Lumen again and wanting him to have money to use in dire times. Lumen softly smiled and thanked the Headmistress in his head as the taxi drove to the Leaky Cauldron.

As it pulled up to the Leaky cauldron, Lumen gave the taxi driver money which he had been saving for some time knowing he's going to need money to exchange into galleons, since not everybody is lucky like Harry Potter to have a millions of galleons at his disposal.

Speaking about Harry Potter, Lumen saw a tall man who looked like a giant with a big scruffy beard next to a skinny boy wearing round glasses entering the Leaky Cauldron. Lumen immediately recognized that it was Harry and Hagrid entering the Leaky Cauldron. Lumen decided to sprint behind them and follow them to the wall which takes them to Diagon Alley, Lumen had to do this because he had no idea what stones to tap and if he could just enter Diagon Alley.

"Excuse me?" Lumen looked at the backs of the giant and the little boy next to him.

Hagrid turned looking at the boy "Yes, how can i help you?"

"Is it okay, if i come into Diagon Alley with you guys? I had no idea how to get in there"

"Ah your a new student too are you? Sure, you can follow us in." Hagrid replied looking at the boys figure which didn't resemble his age.

Lumen looked at Hagrid who tapped the wall five times with his umbrella, the wall slowly rearranging itself to open up to reveal Diagon Alley. Hagrid looked down at the two boys next to him holding the same expression, one of awe and shock.

"Welcome boys, to Diagon Alley" Hagrid said looking at both the boys.
