Kushina looked at Rin with a deep sense of relief.
She had always treated Rin like her own daughter, and seeing her fully resurrected—alive again, with warm flesh and a beating heart—filled her with overwhelming happiness.
"Ah—by the way! Rin, now that you're resurrected, you can eat again!"
Kushina said this with a bright, excited smile. Rin's stomach growled right on cue the moment Kushina mentioned food.
Kushina covered her face in amusement. "Look at that! I just said you could eat, and your stomach started making noise!"
Rin gave an embarrassed smile. "Master, I've only just been resurrected… I haven't eaten anything yet."
Kushina laughed. "Wait here. I'll cook something for you right now—let you taste my cooking again!"
Saying that, Kushina headed straight into the kitchen.
Minato turned to Rin. "Rin, where is Naruto?"
Before Rin could answer, Obito yelled from behind her, "Naruto's still at Orochimaru's place—he hasn't come back yet!"
Minato nodded and motioned for Obito and Rin to sit.
While Kushina busied herself in the kitchen, she called Minato for help. After he served tea to Rin and Obito, he went to assist her.
"Rin, Obito, have tea. I'm going to help Kushina," he said.
Rin lifted the teacup delicately. "Okay, teacher. Go ahead."
After Minato left, she took a careful sip of the hot tea. As it slid down her throat, she swallowed and smiled—genuinely moved.
Obito grinned. "How does it feel?"
Rin nodded excitedly. "It feels… really good!"
Warm water flowing through a living throat, warming a living stomach—it made her eyes sting. After being an Edo Tensei vessel with dead, unfeeling organs, this simple sensation brought overwhelming emotion.
Obito laughed softly. "Just wait until Master finishes cooking. Eating real food again will feel even better."
Rin smelled the aroma drifting from the kitchen and nodded with anticipation.
About ten minutes later, Kushina emerged holding a steaming bowl of freshly prepared noodles.
"Come eat, Rin! Try the noodles I made for you!"
Because Rin had only just been resurrected and was clearly starving, making a simple noodle dish was the fastest way to feed her. There was also stewed chicken soup and cooked meat in the refrigerator they could add.
Rin sat at the dining table. When she saw the chicken noodles and the meat placed beside it, she inhaled the aroma deeply—and swallowed.
Back when she was an Edo Tensei body, she could smell food, but her body couldn't react. Her organs were dead, hollow, unresponsive. But now—now she was alive.
The smell alone made her stomach growl again.
Minato brought out a bowl of warm chicken soup and set it in front of her. "Rin, try your master's wife's cooking."
Rin looked at the meal with tear-filled eyes, then nodded.
She picked up the chopsticks in one hand, stabilizing the bowl with the other. Her anticipation was palpable.
The scent of the chicken broth made her stomach rumble louder.
She blew gently on the noodles to cool them. Then she lifted a bite and placed it in her mouth.
Soft, perfectly cooked noodles. The rich chicken broth soaking into them. The warmth spreading across her tongue.
A wave of satisfaction washed through her, warm enough to make her chest tighten.
Rin ate slowly, savoring every bite.
The gentle, mellow broth reminded her of a time long gone—of meals she once shared with her parents. A taste of family. A taste of home.
Tears shimmered in her eyes again. This meal wasn't just food—it was a piece of her lost life given back to her.
She set down the empty bowl, then took another sip of the chicken soup Minato had given her.
"Aah…" she breathed with satisfaction.
Obito leaned forward eagerly—more anxious than even Kushina. "Well? How is it?"
Rin beamed. "What do you think? Of course it's perfect. Master's cooking hasn't changed at all."
Kushina laughed proudly. "If you think it's good, eat more! There's plenty in the pot!"
Rin nodded happily.
Watching her eat so joyfully made Obito hungry too.
"Master, give me a bowl too! I'm starving!"
Kushina shot him a playful glare. "I made food for Rin—yet you're hungry too?"
Still, she stood up, served him a huge bowl of noodles, and placed it in front of him.
Minato set another bowl of chicken soup beside him.
Obito dug in immediately, almost matching Rin's enthusiasm.
They all stayed for a long while, enjoying the warmth of the revived household. After eating and resting, Obito finally stood, taking Rin by the hand as they prepared to leave.
Minato asked, "Obito… where are you planning to take Rin now?"
Obito squeezed Rin's hand gently. "Same as before—outside the village. If Rin walks around Konoha right now… people might panic."
Kushina let out an irritated huff. "What panic? I just want Rin to come eat more meals here!"
Rin smiled. "Don't worry, Master. If you call me, I'll definitely come."
Obito smiled silently.
Minato gently halted Kushina's enthusiasm. "Not for now. And if you want them to come, they shouldn't come from outside. Just like today—they should use Kamui to come directly."
Kushina blinked. "Why?"
Minato glanced at Rin and Obito. "As Obito said… the impact wouldn't be good."
He folded his arms.
"Rin appearing alive in the village right now could cause a lot of dangerous thoughts. If people start asking Naruto to resurrect their loved ones… then…"
Before he could finish, Kushina understood.
Obito nodded. "It's fine. If Master wants us here, we can use Kamui. No one will notice."
Kushina came closer and smiled warmly at the pair. "Alright then. For now, don't come through the village. Go have some fun. Obito—Rin has only just been resurrected. Take her around, let her see nature, and eat good food."
Obito nodded. "I understand, Master."
After a few more words, Obito activated Kamui, and he and Rin vanished from the house.
As the swirling space-time distortion faded, Kushina sighed softly. "For Obito… this finally lets him mend his regrets."
Minato nodded.
Among Kakashi, Rin, and Obito, Minato had always believed Obito held the greatest potential.
Even though Kakashi was more talented, Obito had something unique—something irreplaceable.
A bright, warm, cheerful heart.
Minato had trained Obito with great hope.
So when he learned the masked man was Obito, the grief hit him brutally. He regretted not recognizing his student during that confrontation—regretted not seeing through the darkness Obito had fallen into.
If he had caught it early… so much could have been prevented.
Rin meant everything to Obito.
And now she was alive again.
