Chapter 27 - Han Yuyao Blows Her Top

After confirming that the bastard who beat Zuo Yi to a pulp was actually Huang Yu in disguise, Han Yuyao didn't hesitate for a second.

She immediately led the entire criminal police unit back toward the hospital, sirens wailing madly all the way.

Just thinking of that shameless grin on Huang Yu's face made her blood boil.

That scumbag—he actually had the nerve to show up at the club to find her?

The officers guarding him at the hospital must have run into trouble!

The moment that thought hit her, she wished she could appear in front of him right now and beat the crap out of that worthless man herself.

Assaulting a police officer wasn't some petty offense.

Under her sharp orders, the whole team raced back to the hospital in record time.

Han Yuyao led the way, followed by over twenty elite officers.

The sight alone startled half the people in the hospital.

Spectators in the lobby started whispering, wondering what huge incident had just happened.

After instructing one of her subordinates to handle the crowd, Han Yuyao strode straight toward Huang Yu's ward with the rest of the team in tow.

"Captain."

The two officers guarding the door immediately stood from their seats across the hallway when they saw her.

"Has anyone come out of this room?"

"No, Captain. Why? What's going on?"

Han Yuyao didn't answer.

Bang!

She kicked the door open.

The chaotic scene she'd imagined didn't appear. The windows were intact, and the handcuffs were still secured—Huang Yu was lying on the bed, fast asleep, his breathing calm and steady, no sign of panic or guilt.

His clothes were the same hospital gown he'd been wearing before. Not even a wrinkle hinted he'd gone anywhere to beat someone up.

Her brows knitted together.

She walked up to the bed, her beautiful eyes narrowing slightly as she stared down at him, trying to discern anything suspicious.

Two or three minutes passed in silence.

The only sound in the room was his slow, even breathing.

At that moment, Huang Yu—who had been pretending to sleep—started to feel her gaze prickling on his skin. He turned lazily, feigning drowsiness, and opened his eyes as if just waking up.

"Huh? You're back?"

"How's Xiao Hei doing?"

But Han Yuyao just stared at him coldly, her expression unreadable, ignoring his attempt at small talk.

That look made Huang Yu's heart skip a beat.

What's with that stare?

Could she have found out I was the one disguised as that crooked-mouthed guard who beat Zuo Yi?

Or did that brat Han Kun sell me out again?

Seeing her still glaring at him, he knew something was off.

Damn it! I knew I shouldn't have signaled that kid. That little rat has betrayed me before—it was bound to happen again.

Though panic churned in his gut, he forced himself to appear calm and clueless.

Listening to his inner thoughts, Han Yuyao's lips curved into a cold sneer.

This scumbag was still pretending.

Even though the guards had confirmed he never left the room, his heart voice couldn't lie.

She didn't know how he'd managed to slip out and return before she got back, but she was a hundred percent certain—

That crooked-mouthed "guard" earlier had been Huang Yu.

"You really didn't leave the room?"

Her tone was soft but sharp as she gazed at him.

"Uh… no."

Huang Yu felt a wave of unease at her calm eyes but gritted his teeth and stuck to his story.

"Got it."

She didn't press further. Instead, she simply turned and lay down on the family companion bed beside his.

"Hey, you're not going home tonight?"

"If you stay here, what if Han Kun runs into trouble again?"

"You're not planning to camp out at the hospital, are you?"

She ignored his questions completely.

Today's events were just too bizarre.

In her impression, Huang Yu had always been nothing more than a spoiled rich kid who only knew how to eat, drink, and play around. Since when did he master such incredible disguise techniques?

And jumping from the twenty-eighth floor unharmed? No ordinary man could pull that off.

For the first time, Han Yuyao—who'd always believed she could control him—felt a strange unease.

A faint trace of melancholy flickered in her eyes.

Could she really keep Huang Yu by her side forever?

Seeing that she wasn't responding, Huang Yu sighed helplessly.

He lay down, yawned, and soon drifted off to sleep.

Stupid bastard!Filthy scumbag!

Hearing him actually snoring, Han Yuyao felt both hurt and furious.

He'd lied to her, and she hadn't even called him out—couldn't he at least explain himself?

She'd rushed back because she was worried about him, damn it!

Her chest rose and fell violently as anger bubbled up.

She wanted nothing more than to drag him out of bed right now and beat a confession out of him.

"Yuyao!"

Suddenly, Huang Yu's voice sounded from behind her.

Hmm?

Her brows furrowed slightly, but she didn't turn around.

Was he finally going to explain?

"Big Bear girl, hehe…"

The moment she heard that lecherous tone, followed by a pervy chuckle, her expression darkened completely.

She turned around.

Under the soft moonlight filtering through the window, she saw Huang Yu murmuring in his sleep, grinning foolishly.

"Serves you right for always scolding me—I'll just make you mad on purpose."

"Eh? Your panties are lacy~"

"You're so hot…"

"No wait—you're way too fierce. No one will ever marry you. I don't want you either."

"All you ever do is hit people…"

You damned bastard!

Her teeth ground audibly as she trembled with fury.

If she hadn't been hearing his heart, she'd have thought he was faking the sleep talk just to piss her off.

When had she ever cursed that often?

And even if she did scold him sometimes—so what?

That vixen Mo Linglong alone was trouble enough.

If she didn't keep an eye on this idiot, who knew how many flings he'd get into!

It was for his own good!

But… watching him sleep with that stupid grin, Han Yuyao simply couldn't connect this childish fool with the man who'd fought like a phantom earlier.

Could something have happened to him abroad?

As a practitioner of ancient martial arts, Han Yuyao fully understood just how terrifying his strength had been that day.

Combined with the joint-lock techniques he'd shown before, it only deepened her suspicion—

There was far more to Huang Yu than met the eye.

But the truth was, ever since she'd left, Huang Yu hadn't been able to do anything.

He'd been stuck in that hospital room the whole time, staring at the ceiling.
