The goblins snarled, their yellow eyes gleaming with bloodlust. They spread out, circling Yami, Rei, and Lina like a pack of hungry wolves.
"Six of them," Lina murmured, drawing her twin daggers. "They're waiting for an opening."
Rei smirked. "Too bad for them. We don't need openings."
Yami, standing in the middle of the group, cracked his neck. "Alright, let's see how tough these little guys really are."
The first goblin lunged at him with a rusty dagger—
FWIP!
Yami sidestepped, grabbed the goblin by the throat, and squeezed. The creature gurgled, its eyes widening in horror as black energy seeped from Yami's hand.
[Death's Touch Activated]
The goblin's body withered, turning into a dry husk before crumbling into dust.
The other goblins froze.
Yami grinned. "Who's next?"
"GRAGH!"
Two goblins rushed him at once—one from the left, one from behind.
Yami spun, summoning one of his scythes in an instant—
SLASH!
A single arc of black light cut through both goblins, splitting them in half.
Rei whistled. "Damn. That's brutal."
Lina didn't even flinch. "Less talking, more killing."
Three goblins remained, their previous confidence gone. They hissed and stepped back—
Then a loud ROAR echoed from the trees.
A large goblin, easily twice the size of the others, stomped into the clearing. Unlike the others, this one wore iron armor and wielded a massive club.
Rei's grin faded. "Oh great. A Goblin Brute."
Lina clicked her tongue. "This just got annoying."
Yami's eyes, however, lit up with excitement.
"Oh? A mini-boss?" He twirled his scythe. "Now this is getting fun."
The Goblin Brute roared, raising its club high—
And Yami charged straight at it.
