Chapter 18 - Reaper Vs Goblin Brute

The Goblin Brute raised its massive club, veins bulging in its thick, green arms. It let out a thunderous roar, shaking the nearby trees.

Yami, however, just grinned.

"Oh yeah, this one's got some weight to it."

BOOM!

The club came crashing down like a falling tree. The impact sent dirt flying, leaving a crater where Yami had just been—

But he was already gone.

SHOOM!

Yami reappeared on the brute's side, his scythe gleaming with black energy.

[Reaper's Step Activated]

He slashed—

CLANG!

The blade bounced off the brute's iron armor.

Yami raised an eyebrow. "Huh. Tough guy."

The brute turned, swinging its club horizontally.

WHOOSH!

Yami ducked, feeling the wind blast past his head.

"Alright," he muttered, gripping his scythe tighter. "Let's see how you handle this—"

But before he could strike, Rei's lightning-infused sword came flashing from the side.

ZAP!

The blade hit the brute's side, sending a shockwave of electricity through its body.

"GYAAAHH!" The brute staggered, its muscles spasming.

Lina darted in, her twin daggers glowing with blue light. She slashed at the weak points—its legs, its exposed neck—moving too fast for the brute to react.

The brute roared in pain and rage, but Yami was already above it, scythe raised high.

"Let's see how you handle this—"

[Death Reap] Activated!

FWOOOSH!

A dark crescent slash cut through the brute's chest.

For a second, nothing happened.

Then—

SLASH!

The brute's body split open, a black mist oozing from the wound. It stumbled, groaned, then collapsed to the ground with a final thud.

Silence.

Then—

Ding!

[You have slain Goblin Brute!]

[EXP gained!]

[New Skill Unlocked: Soul Devour]

Yami grinned. "Well, that was fun."

Rei sheathed his sword. "Not bad, rookie."

Lina huffed. "At least you didn't die."

Yami checked his new skill.

[Soul Devour] - Absorb a fragment of the enemy's power upon death.

His grin widened.

"Oho… now this is interesting."

And just like that, his journey as the Reaper had truly begun.
