Over the next few days, Harry began his search for the Room of Requirement.

Although its location was protected by various magical conditions, it wasn't actually too difficult to narrow down. For one, it was hidden behind a wall in a remote part of the castle, rarely visited by students. And considering the personalities of the four Founders, Harry tried to deduce where they might have placed it.

Hogwarts was enormous. Harry had already checked seven potential locations that fit the description—but none had panned out.

Now, he arrived at another likely spot: the eighth floor of Hogwarts Castle.

There, a tapestry hung on the wall depicting a troll beating Barnabas the Barmy. Directly across from it was a blank stretch of wall. Harry focused hard on what he wanted—a room that would let him enter—and walked past that spot three times.

He hadn't expected much.

But suddenly, a smooth door appeared in the wall, as though it had always been there.

"Found it," Harry said, trying to suppress his excitement.

He pushed open the door and stepped inside.

Of course, he knew exactly what kind of room he had asked for.

It was a simple space.

Though clearly used for storing junk, the old toys, clothes, beds, and drawers were arranged neatly, showing the room's magic was self-organizing.

Harry stepped out again and turned back. The smooth, white wall now had a visible door.

He breathed a sigh of relief—he had worried it might vanish once he left.

This magical door embedded in the wall was completely invisible to Muggles.

It had been enchanted with a Muggle-Repelling Charm, causing any non-magical person to subconsciously ignore its presence.

Just like the Leaky Cauldron in central London, or Hogwarts Castle itself—Muggles could be standing right in front of them and never notice a thing.

Hogwarts, especially, was protected by more repelling charms than anywhere else in the magical world. It was perched on a cliff near several Muggle villages, even frequented by tourists. To a Muggle, the castle appeared as a ruined, abandoned fortress with a sign that read: DANGER – DO NOT ENTER.

When the school was first founded, these protections didn't exist. But over time, as more Muggles settled in the area, they became necessary.

According to Hogwarts: A History, there was once a tragedy— a student from a prominent wizarding family had wandered beyond the school grounds, only to be mistaken for a threat and beaten to death by local farmers.

That heartbreaking event prompted the school's governors to act. They began placing Muggle-Repelling Charms around the campus.

It also served as a lasting reminder of one of the most important rules in the magical world: Never let your wand leave your side.

Even wizarding homes like Malfoy Manor were protected in this way—otherwise, how could such a sprawling estate avoid attracting Muggle attention?

One more interesting fact:

The famous Anti-Apparition Wards at Hogwarts weren't originally intended as defense mechanisms. They were created because too many overly enthusiastic witches and wizards kept Apparating directly into the school, causing constant disruption. In the end, the school had to request help from the Ministry, and forty-eight powerful wizards were brought in to construct the now-legendary wards.

Harry marveled at what had just happened. All he'd done was walk through a door, and he had instantly traveled hundreds of kilometers.

The room he'd stepped into was one he knew very well: his old bedroom on Privet Drive, in Aunt Petunia's house.

He moved quietly down the stairs, but before he reached the bottom, he heard voices.

"Darling, you're starting school soon. Let's go shopping for supplies tomorrow," said Petunia's familiar voice.

"I want to watch TV! You go without me," replied a boy irritably.

"Nonsense. If you come with us, you'll get to choose your clothes. My handsome boy—once you're all dressed up, all the girls will fall in love with you!" Petunia coaxed, knowing exactly how to sway her son.

Dudley seemed tempted. "Alright, fine."

Harry didn't need to see him to know what expression he was making.

He peeked at them—Petunia hadn't changed much, but Dudley…

Harry was shocked at how much weight his cousin had gained in just half a year. He half-suspected Dudley had been cursed—with an Engorgement Charm, perhaps.

After a quick lap around the house, Harry left.

The door vanished from the wall behind him.

Moments later, a door appeared in the courtyard behind the Leaky Cauldron, and Harry stepped through.

Behind the wall was Diagon Alley.

He didn't go in—this was just a test to see if the Room of Requirement could take him there.

Next, he walked back and forth past the same stretch of wall, hoping to travel to the Ministry of Magic or Gringotts.

No door appeared.

"Just as I thought," Harry said to himself.

High-security locations like those would naturally have protections to block magical transport like this.

Finally, he thought to himself: I need a place to hide something.

A door immediately appeared again.

Harry smiled and stepped through.

It was a dark, cluttered storeroom filled with old, forgotten items. Lighting his wand, he searched through the piles until he came to a plaster statue.

From within it, he retrieved an object...
