June POV:
Come morning, Justin was gone. Just like that. Gone. I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep as I scanned the apartment. No sign of him. Not in the bathroom, not in the kitchen, not in the living room. Nowhere.
Well, so much for the hope that we could start small, that maybe I could ease my way into his world. It was clear now that my expectations had been too high, and Justin—ever the enigma—had already taken off without so much as a trace.
I should've known better. He'd never stick around for me to try to "fix" him, especially not after last night, when he'd let me in only because I'd pushed past his walls. He wasn't someone who let people in. Not really. And now, here I was, standing in the middle of his apartment, feeling a mix of frustration and exhaustion.
Why the hell would he just leave like that?
