"You two are kidnapping me," Corin grumbled, digging his heels into the dirt path as Lucian and I flanked him. "You realize that, right? I have work. Real work. Important work."

"You'll live," I said sweetly, linking my arm tighter around his.

"I'm High Advocate now. It's a fancy name with a whole lot of work. Do you know how much chaos I'm sifting through? Every old fart of an Alpha thinks they can just apologize and keep their seat like nothing happened."

Lucian smirked. "So dramatic. You need a break. You'll burn out before you even fix one law."

Corin muttered something under his breath about tyrants, but let us drag him along anyway. His voice only paused when he glanced around and frowned. "Wait… is this—?"

Neither of us answered.

His feet slowed. "This is the old rogue camp route, isn't it? Why are we going this way?"
