"Kaido?"
Sengoku glanced up at the sky, his expression calm yet stern.
"Two arrogant fools. They didn't take our Marine seriously at all," Kong sneered, his voice dripping with disdain.
The Marines hadn't been actively engaged in the New World wars for some time, and this had allowed the infamous pirates of the New World to underestimate their power. Now, two notorious pirates dared to strike at their Naval Headquarters.
"Is there another one? Seems like after the public execution in Logue Town, we'll have one more person to deal with." Garp's lips curled into a faint smile, an almost excited gleam in his eyes.
Kaido's appearance didn't surprise him; if anything, it was the icing on the cake. Kaido and Golden Lion were both powerful and well-known figures of the New World. If they could be captured today, the Marine's prestige would reach its peak when Roger, Kaido, and the Golden Lion were executed in Logue Town. It would send a clear message to the pirates of the New World: Marine power was back.
The Golden Lion, Shiki, hovered in the air, his disdain for the situation apparent. Kaido, who had just appeared, laughed loudly.
"Jie ha ha haā¦ Kaido, why are you here?"
"Shiki, are you out of your mind, you bastard? Coming to Naval Headquarters to die?" Kaido's voice boomed across the battlefield.
Kaido was reluctant to be here. While his alliance with the Golden Lion was essential for the future world war he planned, he couldn't understand why Shiki had chosen to attack the Marine headquarters alone. The Golden Lion had a reputation, but this was reckless.
If it weren't for the tense situation in the New World and the alliance with Shiki, Kaido would've never taken such a risk.
"Why are you here, Kaido? I thought you of all people would understand this! The Marines are planning to execute Roger in Logue Town, the weakest corner of East Blue, and the bastard Marine... they're insulting him!" Golden Lion yelled angrily.
Golden Lion had come to verify the news of Roger's arrest. When he found out that Marine intended to execute Roger in Logue Town, his rage boiled over. He wanted to be the one to kill Roger, to do it in his own way.
"Shiki, I know you respect Roger, but let me make it clear: it's too late for you to run now. If you stay, you'll die here today," Kaido warned, his voice heavy with the weight of his words.
Kaido was indifferent to Roger's fate. For him, it was a non-issue. The only thing that mattered was the confrontation with Marine. But he knew that the best option was for Shiki to leave. The Golden Lion's Devil Fruit powers, the Lion Lion Fruit, along with Kaido's own strength, might give them a chance to escapeāif they acted quickly.
"The execution site wasn't Marine's decision, Shiki. It was Roger's choice," Kaido said, almost pleading with Golden Lion. "He turned himself in. Roger asked for the execution to be in Logue Town. It was his decision, not ours."
Golden Lion's anger flared even higher, his eyes narrowing. "Do you hear this, Shiki? These bastard Marines are insulting One Piece Roger! Follow me! We'll get out of here now!" Kaido urged, his voice desperate.
Golden Lion paused, shaking his head in defiance. "No, Kaido! I won't leave! These Marines insult Roger, and I'll make them pay for it!" he roared.
"Escape? You think you can just leave after coming to our territory?" Kong's voice cut through the air like a blade, his eyes burning with cold fury.
Kong wasn't about to let them escape. They were in Marine territory, and he wasn't going to let these pirates think they could come and go at will. Marine's Six Styles, particularly the Moonwalk and Shaved techniques, made it easy for Kong, Sengoku, and Garp to chase after them. Even if Shiki and Kaido tried to escape, they wouldn't get far.
Sengoku quickly positioned himself behind the Golden Lion, blocking his escape route, while Garp moved with the speed of the Moonwalk to intercept Kaido in the air.
"Damn it," Kaido growled, eyes darting as he saw Garp approach at breakneck speed.
Although Kaido had the advantage in the sky, Garp's Moonwalk technique was more than enough to keep up. The two were now face-to-face, and Kaido's expression twisted with frustration.
"Shiki, you bastard, you're getting me killed here!" Kaido cursed as Garp closed in.
"Jie ha ha haā¦ Kaido, we won't die here today," Golden Lion laughed maniacally, his grip tightening on his two swords.
Despite the overwhelming odds, the Golden Lion's resolve only hardened. He had come here to make a stand, and he would fight until the very end.
"We won't die here because you'll die in a few days, Shiki," Sengoku said slowly, a grim determination in his voice.
Golden Lion's eyes glinted with rage. "If you want to execute me, give it a try!"
With a final roar, the Golden Lion charged at Sengoku and Kong, his twin blades glowing with the power of his Haki. He wasn't about to back down. This was a battle he'd chosen to fight, and he would fight it to the bitter end.
As the Golden Lion charged, the battle between the two top pirates and the Marine fleet began in earnest. Sengoku and Kong faced off against the Golden Lion, while Garp engaged Kaido in mid-air.
