Chapter 9 - Target Library

Elsa found Rommel or Eris as he was now, cute. She even patted her head and said with a smile,

"Yeah sure milady. I will do it once you are fully rested that is."

But this infuriated Rommel. A man now a girl of strict command and discipline.

"How dare you defy a direct order?!" He retorted. "I shall have you shot in the court of honor."

Elsa was baffled and tilted her head not understanding what Rommel just said and kept staring at her with wide eyes.

"Fine Ich get it." Rommel said, remembering what Monty told him moments earlier. "I will go look for them myself."

Rommel tried to think about what he could do or where he could go to gather knowledge, and suddenly remembered the library his parents talked about earlier during breakfast.

So she got down from the bed again struggling due to her now short stature. But just like the Free French Brigade Group that stood between his Afrika Korps and total destruction of the 8th Army, there stood Elsa now between her and the library.

"Milady, where do you think you're going? Didn't the priestess and your parents strictly forbid you from going anywhere?" Elsa said seeing as Rommel was about to leave the room.

She stood between the door and Rommel and tried to put him back to bed.

But Rommel was also clever. This time he was not planning for Luftwaffe to strike and destroy the target partly because there isn't one to begin with, but to use her small size and flank Elsa.

But first came the reasoning, "Bathroom" Rommel replied dry.

"It's not this way milady, the bathroom is to the left of the room." Elsa pointed out.

"Grr, I want to drink water first." He said.

"The pitcher is right there, let me help you get it." Elsa innocently replied.

As Elsa moved from the door towards the table, Rommel was waiting for this exact moment. He waited until Elsa was busy pouring water from the pitcher.

But due to ill luck, Elsa was not letting it go his way. She looked towards Rommel first and immediately understood what he was thinking.

Before she got busy with pouring water, she tried to confront Rommel.

"Don't even think about it milady, stay here like a good little girl." She came towards Rommel and tried to take him on her lap and back to bed.

But Rommel was not having it either, like the dash from Sedan to English channel, he dashed towards the door. And tripped himself on his dress straight down to his face.

"oww," he screamed. "Verdammt, why does it hurt so much just falling down" He also cursed in his mind to the dress.

Horrified, Elsa brought him up and held Rommel in her chest. Much to Rommel's sheer discomfort. He pushed and tried to get away from those soft terrors.

Elsa checked on Rommel, "Milady, where does it hurt? Is your nose okay?!" She inquired as she put Rommel to bed.

"I am fine, this is overkill for just tripping on my dress, I have survived artillery fires." Rommel replied grudgingly but accepting that for now retreat like during Compass.

But Elsa was not convinced. She checked her again and again much to Rommel's anguish.

However, Elsa also put her back to bed. Rommel crossed his arms and sit there on the bed gritting his teeth while Elsa watched over him.

"Fine, change of plans thought Rommel. Time for a sneak operation." He thought himself and started to figure the pros and cons.

She just lied down on her bed and waited. Whenever she got up, Elsa's eyes glued to him as well. She carefully watched where he goes.

But thankfully Rommel never left the room and only went to the bathroom a couple of times or drank water.

Even his lunch was sent to the room as well. However, answering to nature's call turned out to be a hassle for Rommel. Thanks to his newer 'mechanism' of doing the job.

However, once nightfell, Elsa returned to the servants chamber for sleep. The Duchess sang Rommel a lullaby to put him to sleep.

Once the lights were turned off and everyone went to sleep Rommel woke up and got to work.

She got down from her bed again with a little struggle and got out of her room.

Thankfully, the lights of the corridors were still on. A testament to the standing of Eris' family, though Rommel or Eris now didn't know it.

She walked through the long corridor like a ghost all alone trying to maintain silence by tiptoeing. Thankfully her nightdress was easier to move in than that damned frilly dress.

However, the biggest problem was that he didn't know where the library was and he couldn't ask anyone about it.

She got down the stairs slowly and stood in front of the dinning from where she had breakfast that day. Though her lunch and dinner were at her room.

She looked at the left and right to find any clues for her library and found a big room protected by two huge gates. He had a gut feeling that this was the library he was looking for.
