Chapter 261 - chapter 61

Araxis' split soul continued to follow Hamar hidden away by the world perfectly. As he saw him enter the teleportation ring, he hopped into the room containing the teleporter and put his hands on his hips.

"This is a neat machine. And...did I see right? It's entering that place?"

He laughed a jolly laugh and reminded, "I had placed that Secluded Realm only as an Easter egg haha. It was only a neat memento of my times in Night City, to think somebody would unseal it..."

Araxis looked up with a gentle smile, "Another adventure into a other world, hmm not really. Perhaps it'll capture a bit of that joy I had with my Master though...I guess this time I'll be the one to introduce someone to a new setting, haha"

He continued to reminisce for a while before he snapped his fingers and without the whole procedure, the teleportation ring activated. He stepped through and entered the white void like Hamar did. "No thank you." He chuckled and walked forward, simply stepping through the white void and into Future City.

He was in the sky, hovering above the thousands of skyscrapers. The massive obelisks of modern engineering, towers of glass reflecting the neon lights below. Araxis looked down and patted his clothes, "I don't suppose this is the right uniform now is it? I should be wearing something more modern, sleek, western..."

He snapped his fingers and the robes covering him transformed into something resembling jeans and a dusty long trench coat.

"Ah, I remember now. It was Earth-036 (Mana) type world that I made this on. It doesn't seem too different than where I left it?"

Araxis snapped his fingers and walked through a street. Speeding cars and cybernetically enhanced humans, and complete machines walked along. He whistled a tune while spinning a coin along his fingers.

"Should just be a left here now?" He turned into a seemingly random street and saw a pair of cybernetic enhanced humans, as most were, and walked up to them.

One had purple hair in a pixie cut and the other had bright green buzzcut with one side of his face made machine. Araxis wake duo behind them and coughed.

They jumped in surprise and Araxis introduced himself, pulling out a badge. He flashed the flip out identification quickly, "Troy Burns, Homicide Detective of Future City Special Unit."

The green haired man stammered, "Uh, w-we forgot. We've lost our memories or something?"

Araxis, disguised as 'Troy Burns', chuckled and pointed towards the man's forehead, "That check out, yer Blue Blood's leakin'. It's likely that your microchip's been damaged and that's the issue with your memories. I'm sure the boys at the Special Unit could recover that data."

Hamar was quick on his feet, he knew nothing of this strange world. He had to give a reasonable explanation for his lack of knowledge, "Uh, w-we forgot. We've lost our memories or something?"

He made sure he wasn't too specific, he didn't know what the rules were, who this person who approached them was, what he could do, what he would do or even why he was here.

'He said 'Homicide', Did the body I'm in commit murder? If so, then shouldn't ai run, but what if I didn't? That would only make me more suspicious. I can't use aura but that's not the say these 'cybernetics' can't do anything, they use mana after all.' Hamar vaguely listened to what the detective was saying while he thought of his plans.

"They can recover the memories? May I ask why you wanted us, detective?"

Troy pulled out a metal stick, and sucked on one end. A blue core fizzled and came to life. It crackled and Troy sucked in a puff of smoke, breathing it out of his nose.

"You two were witnesses to a murder, that's all you need to know..." He took another drag of his device and let out a large puff of smoke, "Your lucky to be alive now, you're not safe even with the boys at the special Unit so how about you come and follow me."

Hamar contemplated his choice but suddenly Troy took his and the miasma butlers hands and walked hurriedly towards the far end of the alley.

"W-What? Where are we going?" Hamar didn't try to run, not without knowledge.

"We need to stay out of the spotlight and get you to someone who can recover memories. There are some good underground cybernetic engineers I know, we'll meet up with them."

Hamar looked to his side, "Follow this person, don't resist." He ordered the miasma butler before he gained back freedom from Troy and stopped.

He rubbed this wrist and asked, "Is there a way to stop my cybernetics from working? Or...no, just stop working?" For a moment he was going to mention mana but without knowledge he decided to keep his question vague.

Troy looked back and smiled gently. He chuckled, "Of course, when we get to that cybernetics engineer he could shut the things down; at least the parts that can be shut down." Troy pointed towards Hamar's head with his metal stick, "That main microchip seems to have replaced a good amount of biological, it can't just be shut down lest... consequences."

***

Araxis created a character in his mind, Troy Burns, a detective. He was still in control of the system of this world and with his extensive knowledge he could gain whatever knowledge and do whatever he needed.

As he spoke with Hamar he created his own character. He lampooned in his head, 'The person who found this Secluded Domain really is a special one...Making it so everyone who joins has to play a character and can't remember their experience after...a madman, that's what he is.'

While he conversed with Hamar he began changing the world slightly. He inserted his character into the memories of everyone in the Earth-036 (Mana) type world Secluded Domain. He changed the world to make up a story for himself to play, giving the meaningless character Hamar had 'possessed' a grander role.

Taking a drag of his mana pen, he felt his cybernetics whirr with regained energy. He blew the waste smoke into Hamar's face, "Before we continue, how full is your mana battery?"

He would help the creator of this grand world, the Elder who had brought Araxis' Secluded Domain tonlife and kept it unchanged. Much like that Elder, Araxis had a soft spot for this world setting and enjoyed expanding on it. He shared his knowledge with Hamar.

Troy, Araxis, pulled back his trench coat and exposed a tank of blue water, "We'll need to fend off any mercenaries or hired men. Can't be running low, can we?"
