Chapter 1 - Void Archives

Category:

Artifact / Dimensional Construct

Description:

A mysterious and highly advanced device created by Kate Apocalypse. The Void Archives is capable of copying any non-living structure or object from an entire planet and storing its exact data within a vast, internal library-like dimension. The current owner can enter this internal space, which features towering shelves and endless records a digital-physical hybrid archive.

Once something is copied, the device can materialize an exact version of it through the owner's will or advanced interface commands. These materializations are indistinguishable from the originals, down to atomic structure, energy patterns, and function.

Origin:

Created in a far-future universe by Kate Apocalypse, a High Human researcher, the Void Archives was designed during the age of Universal Warfare a time when entire universes were at war, consuming one another to survive. Kate built it as a failsafe to preserve knowledge, culture, and civilization by copying all non-living structures, technologies, and materials from dying planets.

However, due to its ability to materialize perfectly identical copies, the device quickly became a source of fear among the ruling powers of Kate's universe. Its potential to replicate forbidden technology, weapons, or priceless artifacts made it too dangerous in the eyes of the authorities. They feared it could destabilize entire systems of control, power, and economy.

As a result, Kate was betrayed by her own government, marked for erasure alongside her creation. What was meant to be salvation became a threat. During her escape, her closest friend Alex cursed the device, and it was later marked again by a multicolored being in the void, causing the Void Archives to consume Kate's lifespan every time it's Cope Ability is used.

Known Abilities / Properties:

Core Abilities:

• Perfect Replication: Copies any structure, material (down to the atomic level), and any kind of energy. It can replicate almost anything except souls, as long as the information exists in the Universal Tablet.

• Dimensional Library: The Void Archives manifests as a vast, towering library where all copied data is stored as books and automatically sorted by the system.

• Materialization: The owner can summon or materialize any stored information into the physical world.

Pre-Cursed Abilities:

• Autonomous Planetary Copying: The Void Archives automatically scans and copies entire planets it resides in (excluding lifeforms), gathering geography, structures, and technology data.

 • The copied data is stored as books within the library, sorted automatically by the system.

 • Additionally, the Void Archives contains special rooms that replicate the exact planetary environments, which the owner can enter and explore as if physically present.

Cursed Effects:

• Every use of the Void Archives to copy something drains Kate's lifespan.

Limitations:

• Can only copy non-living things; cannot copy souls or living consciousness.

• Each object or data can only be copied once no duplicates of the same item.

• The copying process consumes Kate's lifespan, limiting how often it can be used safely.

• The materialized copies may require activation or user presence to be accessed or controlled.

• The Void Archives' internal space and stored copies might have storage capacity limits.

Current State / Known History:

The Void Archives currently exists as a vast dimensional construct accessible only to its rightful owner, Kate Apocalypse. Since its creation, it has served as both a repository and a gateway to countless copied worlds and objects. Despite its incredible power, the Archives are burdened by the curse that drains Kate's lifespan with every use, making its operation a constant risk to her survival.

Governments and powerful factions from Kate's original universe have hunted the Void Archives, fearing its potential to disrupt the cosmic balance. Though Kate escaped with it, the device remains a highly sought yet feared prize.

Within the Archives, the replicated worlds are meticulously preserved in book form, alongside fully explorable dimensional rooms that recreate entire planets down to the atomic level. The system continues to autonomously copy any planet where it resides, creating an ever-growing library of universes.

Even though it can copy entire planets, there are currently only two known copied planets: Ur, Kate's original home planet, and the Starting World, where Kate began her adventure and first entered the Martial Peak Universe.

Kate's struggle to control and understand the Void Archives drives much of her journey, as she seeks ways to overcome its curse and uncover its true origins.

The Void Archives Remains her most valuable, yet most dangerous asset.

Appearance:

The Void Archives appears as a seemingly ordinary black cube, small enough to be held comfortably in one hand. Its surface is smooth and matte, absorbing surrounding light rather than reflecting it, giving the cube an almost void-like presence. The edges are subtly rounded, and faint lines trace intricate, ever-shifting patterns that pulse softly with a violet hue the signature color of the Chaos element from which it was born.

Inside the Archives, the dimensional space expands into a vast, impossibly large library filled with towering bookshelves that stretch beyond sight, glowing softly under an ethereal light. The architecture blends futuristic technology with ancient, arcane designs massive pillars etched with glowing runes support crystal ceilings that refract multicolored light.

Rooms within the Archives can shift and reshape according to the needs of the user, allowing exploration of the copied planets and artifacts in fully immersive, three-dimensional environments. Despite its colossal interior, the cube remains compact and inconspicuous outside, hiding the enormity within.

Notable Users / Interactions:

Kate Apocalypse - The original creator and current primary owner of the Void Archives. Kate's use of the device is deeply personal and burdensome; every use drains her lifespan due to the curse placed by her best friend, Alex. She is the only known user able to fully access the Archives' vast internal dimensions and explore the copied planets.

Alex - Kate's former best friend and betrayer who cursed the Void Archives and Kate herself. His curse forces Kate to sacrifice part of her lifespan whenever she activates the Archives' copying function, turning the device into a double-edged sword.

The Multicolored Light Being - An enigmatic entity in the void that further cursed Kate during her escape through the Universal Gate, reinforcing the Archives' draining effect on her life energy.

Su Yan - The first individual besides Kate to physically hold the Void Archives. Upon touching it, Su Yan sensed its ancient and overwhelming power, as well as a strange, unidentifiable energy emanating from it. She became the first person Kate trusted enough to grant partial control over one of the materialized copies: Vimana, a construct replicated by the Void Archives. Through this access, Su Yan can command the Vimana using the Archives as a medium.

Notes / Trivia:

Thought to be one of the few devices capable of surviving Universal Collapses.

Characters often debate whether it is truly a "device" or a nascent lifeform.

Its true potential may still be locked behind hidden protocols or forgotten laws.
