Alexander broke formation, sprinting ahead. His heart thundered in sync with his instincts, knowing someone was about to die if he didn't act now.
He burst into a clearing lit by moonlight, just in time to see a teenage girl scramble backward across the forest floor, her palms shredded by roots and gravel. Towering over her was the rogue, a massive, emaciated creature, its mottled brown fur patchy, eyes glowing like coals. Saliva frothed at its jagged maw, claws dragging ruts into the dirt as it closed in.
"HEY!" Alexander roared.
The rogue turned, snarling, and lunged towards Alexander.
Alexander didn't think. His body exploded into motion. The shift came fast and full, fur bristling from his skin, bones snapping, reforming, his body elongating into the massive frame of his Alpha wolf.
He collided with the rogue mid-air, and the force of their clash sent shockwaves through the clearing.
