Reading through the book, Katrina didn't realise she had fallen asleep until she woke up still in the same dress from the night before with the book splayed open onto a random page, which she does not remember getting to. Getting out of bed, she grabbed a change of clothes and decided to have a bath to clean herself. The silver-haired girl decided to wear a black skirt with a white blouse.
Looking outside, she estimated that it was around 6am by the position of the sun, she took the book to her desk and turned the tome back a couple of pages (to what she could remember) and began reading. Reading through the short chapter on multiple elements when spell casting she realised her problem.
When casting a new spell with multiple elements, you must learn to separate the magical elements from each other. To do so, you have to focus on the magical energy running from your inner core and circling around your body. When you have multiple affinities the different magical energy combines into a single one in order to not overwhelm your body.
Therefore, before it leaves your body you need to peel the energy and only allow the element you desire to take shape. Placing the book down, Katrina made her way to her windowsill, and took a singular rose from a bouquet of them. Bringing it to her desk and sitting down, she hovered her hand over it and closed off all her senses. But instead of peering into her inner world, she focused on the magical energy thrumming in her veins.
Witnessing the colourful hue of mostly purple and light green with hints of blue, she willed it to travel to her wrist before she visualised the purple and blue to slowly separate from the energy and stop moving. However before it could completely split, she lost control of the energy and it shot out her hand as one. Opening her eyes, she saw the rose going through a rapid state of decay.
Groaning internally, she stood up to get more roses. Grabbing a handful this time since this seemed more difficult than she had thought it would. It took the princess a whole hour - and a dozen dead roses - before she managed to achieve the results she wished.
[Spell created: Touch of Growth
Description: A subtle spark of flora magic to restore a non-magical plant's vitality or speed up its growth.
Spell Grade: D
Spell Uniqueness: F]
Katrina felt a little bummed out by the results of its grade and uniqueness but flora magic meant to help the growth of plants were probably exceedingly common so it made sense. At least she was finally able to separate her elements, although she really needed to try and cultivate more Knollgrasses as her magical energy had become sluggish and weak from constant use. And that her water magical energy was practically useless until she had a stronger construct more connected with the element.
Deciding she still had some time before breakfast, she peered inside her inner world. Welcoming the inviting feel of home, she stared at her singular thriving plant and began visualising another one. This time, she imagined it to be shorter yet longer with more sacs of poison at the top rather than on its sides. This variation to the first plant kept her focused and stopped her mind from drifting to something which could compromise her cultivation.
After she was done, she thought about creating another one but she remembered a warning from the tome detailing how in the early stages forming too many constructs at one time could cause instability. Opening her eyes, she made her way to the small dining room that she and her father used when they did not have to entertain guests.
Entering it, she sat down staring at her father who was entranced with whatever was on the paper he was reading. Katrina chose to bite the bullet to ask him about it instead of just wondering.
"What are you reading dad?" The princess of Aurora asked him.
"An negotiation from Yuria to stop the conflict from growing." He answered grimly.
"That's great. Right?" She started off cheerful until she noticed that his mood was not a pleased one, so their terms must be outrageous in order to not instantly accept.
"Not unless you want to marry their bone headed heir." the king said aggressively, his dislike for the Yurian heir apparent.
"A marriage to stop them from entering our land?" She questioned, trying to clarify if that was what they were offering or if it was a union between the kingdoms.
"Don't be so surprised, you're an exceptional beauty with a great standing and now a mage with three affinities. They'd be stupid to not send a proposal." He complimented her.
"So what's our next move?" Katrina spoke, knowing that her father was not going to accept their conditions.
"Sending a polite refusal and preparing for them to become more hostile." Her grey-haired father replied resolutely while cutting his already bite sized slices of strawberries and eating them.
