Chapter 6 - "wake up call"

Atom slowly wakes up in the hospital where he first went to when he broke his arm, looking down his arms are bandaged
Panel 2
A nurse walks in
Nurse: "ok atom I'm just here to do a check up
Atom: "thanks but what happened to my arms"
Panel 3
The nurse jumps at the voice thinking that atom was still asleep
Nurse: "geez how long have you been awake
Panel 4
Atom sits up fully Looking at the nurse
Atom: "around 5 minutes, how long have I been asleep"
Panel 5
The nurse looks at him, her face giving the expression of sorrow as if she's gonna tell you the worst thing possible

Nurse: "about a month"
Panel 2
Atom looks surprised he didn't expect he was out for that long
Nurse: "sorry but I have to tell the doctor your awake give me a moment"
Panel 3
Atom looks down at his arms
Atom: "a month… I've been in this world for a month now and I haven't even figured out how to live my new life. I've already wasted most of my life… in bed… like before"
Panel 4
Clearly time has passed as the doctor walks in
Dr. Grace: "hey atom hear you're awake, I'm dr. Grace I've been your main healer for the passed month"
Panel 5
Dr.Grace told me what happened, after the fight bystanders took me to the hospital, one did some basic healing magic before I reached the hospital, my right arm was destroyed, it had suffered poison and almost all the skin on it was ripped off, my left arm had shattered and muscles were practically ripped off my bone from the force of my final attack. They had to call doctors from the big city 20 miles away to do what they could to heal my arms.

Atom: "so will my arms be okay
Dr.Grace: "for your right arm you'll need to keep it bandaged, not all the skin has healed and come in every few days, your left arm is ok, there is permanent damage but with a few more check ups it should be fine for bounty hunting again

Dr.Grace stop for a moment
Dr.Grace: "speaking of you have a visitor
Atom: "who is it"
Dr.Grace: "this towns Chief of Mana Usage"
Panel 3
Atom is visibly nervous, the name sounds like there's a reason someone that important wants to see atom
Atom: "alright is he here now "
Form behind the door
CoMU: "I am here"
Panel 4
A tall man walks in, his presence alone make everyone in the room uneasy
CoMU: "my name is chief Kevin, people usually refer to me as cheif"
Atom: "hello sir what do I have the pleasure meeting you"

Chief sends out the nurses and doctors and closes the door

Chief looks at atom with a serious face
Chief: "Atom im going to ask you something, i need you to be as honest as you can"
Panel 2
Chief sits in the chair next to atoms bed looking at him
Chief: " Atom, are you from a place known as earth
Panel 3
Atoms face is in shock, he didn't expect anyone to know where he came from,
Atom: "yes sir I am
Panel 4
Chief looks at the floor, and breathes a sigh of relief
Chief: "alright so because of that we won't punish you, most likely you don't know our laws and restrictions yet. What you did was technically illegal, bounty hunters are under strict rules and regulations so they can do their job, a license is required."

Atom looks down
Atom: "I'm so sorry sir I really didn't know if I knew sir…"
Chief: "no need for that, you see we value people from earth, not to mention when you acted to fight Daniel, you did so without hurting anyone else. Weather intentional or not Daniel was a mafia leader we've been tracking for decades, without you he would have been out loose still causing havoc"

Chief sits back in his chair
Chief: "the only real punishment is making you pay for the damages caused, but that's been taken care of, when we took in Daniel after yalls fight he told us he gave up long ago, you lit a spark in him so he wanted to fight with everything he had, so he told us where not only the rest of his mafia was but also there hidden strongholds, in there we found stolen goods that we used, while some would have gone to you, we choose to use that towards the damages, so you keep the original bounty for defeating Daniel"

atom looks relieved and has a sigh of relief
Atom: "ohh thank god,

Chief stands up and moves the chair back to where it was
Chief: "Daniel alone killed many people, so speaking behind everyone at the Mana Usage Department we thank you for what you've done, and hope you continue working with us as a bounty hunter"

Atom bows his head, tears forming in his eyes
Atom: "thank you so much sure"
Panel 3
Atom wipes the tears
Atom: "one last thing how do I get a license so I can continue
Chief: "well that's the last thing, we didn't want to let people think you got special privileges so"
Panel 4
Chief extends his arms to atom and opens his hand
Chief: "here's a license that said you joined being a bounty hunter 2 months ago"

Atom takes the license
Atom: "thank you so much sir"
Chief: "the only down side is you will have to learn the laws of being a bounty hunter, and you will be tested by an associate of mine in a week to do the test"

Atom while still grateful, now starts looking like he's thinking with his hand to his chin
Panel 2
Atom lowers his hands to his legs
Atom: "you talked about how because I'm from earth your being generous with punishment, and I'd get that but this is on another level of kindness, what's the reason"

Chief looks like he was expecting that question
Chief: "you see I've talked to many people from earth, they all have something in common that our people don't, they all are much smarter than average, so it makes more sense to allow y'all to live here to improve our cities and towns rather than prosecute y'all for being human"

Atom eyes light up
Atom: "ohhhhh, earth doesn't have magic so we had to invent things to make up for that, ok that makes sense"

Chief chuckles
Chief: "see while you go that in moments someone from here would have to think long and hard about why we do what we do."

Chief: "it's my time to go, I still have a job, come by the tavern for your prize, and don't forget about the test, I'll get the doctor back in here"

Atom looks at his license admiring it, with a large grin on his face,

Atom walks out the hospital, his right arm still bandaged but left arm no longer,

Atom walks into the tavern when he does everyone is left silent as they watch him

Atom is all of a sudden praised, some people walk up to him and throw him in the are
Random: "thank you atom you've avenged hundreds with your work and saved many more"
Random 2: "bartender I'll pay for all his drinks tonight
