Chapter 319: The Era of the Douluo God Realm – Part IX: Surrender

"Don't you dare even think about that!" Ye Wen's voice was sharp, his tone heavy with authority as he warned Gu Yuena.

The Silver Dragon King waved her hand dismissively, effortlessly dispelling Ye Wen's aura. Her voice remained calm and measured.

"No need to get so tense, dear husband. I was merely suggesting a solution. After all, you seem troubled about what to do with Na'er. Whether I merge with her or not doesn't change my power much, and honestly, I don't wish to fully fuse with her either not now."

Hearing her response, Ye Wen relaxed slightly. After all, Na'er was his daughter, the child he had raised for over a century. He wouldn't let her be erased so easily.

But he couldn't fully trust Gu Yuena's assurances; the mysteries of the soul were complex. Their connection resembled a split personality in humans but was physically separated into two distinct beings, with shared memories and senses. To make matters worse, Gu Yuena, as the dominant consciousness, held power over the unknowns that Ye Wen couldn't entirely control.

He righted his chair and sat down, his expression serious. "I'll hold you to that. But understand, if you ever harm Na'er, I'll never forgive you, even if you are my wife now."

Gu Yuena's expression softened at the sight of his determination. Though she had always known how important family was to him, she hadn't fully felt it until now.

"Rest assured, husband," she said with a slight smile. "I promise not to do such a thing. For the sake of our family and my responsibility to the soul beasts, I'll fulfill my role faithfully."

Ye Wen felt some of the weight lift from his shoulders with her words, but a thorn still remained.

"Why didn't you tell me about your connection to Na'er when we first discussed marriage? Why wait for me to find out on my own?"

Contrary to what he had expected, Gu Yuena's calm mask slipped, her expression complex. This was an uncharacteristic display of emotion for someone like her, who usually guarded her feelings so well.

Ye Wen waited patiently, sensing the depth of her struggle. Finally, she let out a sigh.

"If I had told you then, would you still have chosen to marry me?"

Ye Wen's throat closed up. Deep down, he already knew the answer he wouldn't have. He would have looked for another way to gain the loyalty of the soul beasts.

Seeing his silence, Gu Yuena's cold, implacable face softened with a smile that seemed to bloom like a hundred flowers.

"Just as you understand Na'er, I came to understand her as well when our minds first merged. I knew then that you would never agree if you knew the truth. But I was bound by my duty and needed to marry you to fulfill it. So, if you feel anger, then be angry at me. This was my choice, and I have no regrets. In fact, I'm more grateful for my decision than ever. Because the person I ended up with was you."

Gu Yuena's radiant face held a trace of self deprecation, yet her gaze remained fixed on Ye Wen, filled with deep, complicated emotions.

Ye Wen found himself at a loss for words. Could he truly hate her? Despite the deception, Gu Yuena had been nothing but supportive, aiding him in the unification of Douluo Star's soul beasts and humans.

With a sigh, he asked, "So there's truly no way to break your connection with Na'er?"

Gu Yuena nodded, her tone gentle yet firm. "Our link is complex. We're two people, yet we're one. No matter how far apart we are, we'll always feel each other's presence. Even a seal can't sever this bond."

"I see."

Ye Wen exhaled slowly, accepting the reality. The more he contemplated, the deeper he fell into silent reflection.

Watching him grapple with this dilemma, Gu Yuena's eyes softened, her affection for him evident. She stood and moved behind him, gently wrapping her arms around his neck.

The familiar scent brought Ye Wen out of his reverie. He turned slightly to look at her. "Is something wrong? I'll figure this out. Just stay by my side and continue as my beloved wife."

Ye Wen's comforting words seemed to have the opposite effect. Gu Yuena tightened her embrace, pressing her warmth against his back.

Then, from behind him, her voice took on a seductive tone. "You know, we're the same person, she and I. The feelings I have for you… Na'er shares them, too. In fact, it was Na'er who first felt this love and passed it on to me. She taught me what it meant to feel this way. So you don't need to struggle so much, my dear husband. Take Na'er as your own as well. She's always been quiet and reserved; as long as our relationship isn't public, no one will question it. You're Douluo Star's Creator God why not live a little more freely and indulge yourself?"

Her voice grew more alluring, and to Ye Wen, it felt like the pure and dignified Gu Yuena had suddenly transformed into a seductive demon whispering in his ear. He wanted to protest, to argue against her suggestion, but a dark urge simmered within him, conjuring scenes of indulgence and desire in his mind.

Though Gu Yuena wasn't a goddess of desire like Bibi Dong, she sensed his wavering resolve. Her lips curled into a devilish smile.

"Dear husband, dragons are known for their passion. And Na'er can hardly endure the unrelenting urges she feels. Don't you want to give her peace?"

That final whisper shattered Ye Wen's last shred of self control. He pulled Gu Yuena close, his breath ragged as he lost himself in her embrace.

"Gu Yuena!" he growled. "You're going too far! I'm the head of this household don't provoke me like this!"
