Chapter 336: Douluo God Realm Era Part XXVI: Persuading the Ice Empress (Part 2)

"But "

Ye Wen's tone shifted, making Ice Empress's eyes widen in alarm. Was this scoundrel going to go back on his word?

"Ice Empress, have you ever wondered about something?" he asked, then suddenly stopped talking.

Ice Empress, realizing she could speak, jumped in immediately. "What is it?"

"You and Snow Empress are both female," Ye Wen said with a sigh, "so why didn't you choose to become male when you reshaped your godly form? That's why I'm saying you and Snow Empress could never be together."

He shook his head and sighed as though her situation was hopeless, but to Ice Empress, it was nothing short of mockery.

All her life, Ice Empress had prided herself on being strong. How could she tolerate being treated like this? "Fine!" she snapped. "Then I'll change my gender right now!"

Ye Wen just scoffed. "Too late. Snow Empress is my wife now. And didn't you pay attention to your studies? After reaching godhood, the only chance to reshape your form is when you first break through to God Officer level. Once your divine body is linked to your godhead, it's permanent."

The realization struck Ice Empress like a blow, and she went silent, the full weight of her mistake crashing down on her. She could have chosen to reshape herself earlier, but she had lost that chance. Rage filled her.

"Argh!" she cried, losing control.

Before she could lash out, Ye Wen calmly held her in place. Ice Empress's glare was pure hatred. If only she could strike him down, she thought. How dare he taunt her like this?

Unmoved, Ye Wen sat her back down in her chair and ignored the fire in her eyes as he started explaining, droning on and on. After a while, Ice Empress had lost all patience. He was clearly enjoying this, and she couldn't believe he had the nerve to be so smug after taking her beloved Snow Empress from her.

"Mmmph!" she cried in frustration, close to tears. Why had she accepted his invitation? She should have known better than to fall into his trap. Regret washed over her as she thought back to all her choices.

Seeing her so downtrodden, Ye Wen finally realized he'd maybe gone a bit too far. He sighed. "Alright, alright. Don't cry. I was just teasing."

But Ice Empress only turned her face away, ignoring him. Ye Wen shrugged and continued.

"So, as I was saying, it's physically impossible for you and Snow Empress to have a child. I'm not against you two being close. In fact, I support it she could use someone who understands her well. But you have to be realistic. It's been tens of thousands of years, and you're still nowhere near convincing her."

He fixed her with a serious look. "Respect our relationship, Ice Empress. For Snow Empress's sake, don't do anything reckless that could hurt her or her family."

A bit of her usual spirit seemed to return as Ice Empress looked up, reluctantly nodding.

Ye Wen let her go from his grip, watching her. Satisfied, he added one last thing as he turned to leave. "Keep your temper in check, and if you behave, I'll allow Snow Empress's child to see you as an aunt. But don't give her or that child a reason to think poorly of you."

Ice Empress's ears perked up, her spirits lifting instantly. She opened her mouth to say something, but Ye Wen had already left.

"Ugh! That guy!" she grumbled, clenching her fists in frustration.

But then, as she pictured Snow Empress's child, her anger faded, replaced by a soft, longing look. Perhaps things weren't so bad. If it meant staying close to Snow Empress, maybe this was an acceptable outcome. Just a shame, though, that the child's father had to be that scoundrel Ye Wen…

Mumbling to herself, Ice Empress let out a slightly unhinged giggle, caught up in her thoughts.

With one potential problem out of the way, Ye Wen returned to his ongoing work on the new God Realm. The original plan for a twelve layered realm had required adjustment, but with the recent addition of a new god level entity, it was coming along well.

Life as a god had its advantages and, for Ye Wen, the enjoyment of family moments was the best. For the next few years, he focused on helping Snow Empress adjust to her new role in the family.

And, to everyone's surprise, ten years after they married, Snow Empress announced she was expecting.

Although Ye Wen had used the idea of Snow Empress having a child as a promise to keep Ice Empress in line, he hadn't expected it to actually happen so quickly. After all, both he and Snow Empress were god kings, and none of his other wives, not even Na'er or Na'er, had shown any signs of pregnancy yet.

Snow Empress explained that the world consciousness had used an abundance of innate energy to aid her conception, enough to create a first class godhead. Ye Wen marveled at how far the consciousness would go to secure its place in the family.

Now, a child on the way...it was something he looked forward to more than anything.
