Seeing Shūhei Hisagi about to strip Ichigo Kurosaki of his spiritual power, Rukia Kuchiki rushed to intervene, only to be sent flying with a single, swift kick. Her attempt at intervention was easily thwarted.
Shūhei Hisagi, observing Rukia Kuchiki's unexpectedly weak performance, frowned. "Rukia, why is your spiritual pressure so depleted?" He was concerned.
Neither Rukia Kuchiki nor Shūhei Hisagi suspected the true cause of Rukia Kuchiki's weakened state: the Gigai she was currently inhabiting. The subtle nature of the Gigai's effect made it undetectable.
Given Kisuke Urahara's technological prowess, neither of them could detect any anomalies. The Gigai was expertly crafted.
"Lieutenant Hisagi, I'll go back with you; please spare him," Rukia Kuchiki pleaded from the ground, her voice filled with desperation. She was begging for mercy.
Shūhei Hisagi ignored her pleas, walking towards Ichigo Kurosaki and slowly raising his curved scythe-blades. He was resolute.
Watching Rukia Kuchiki fall to the ground, about to be taken away for the Sokyoku execution, Ichigo Kurosaki felt a surge of rage and determination. He couldn't allow his friend to face such a fate.
"Aaaaaargh!!!"
Ichigo Kurosaki roared, unleashing a spiritual pressure that far surpassed Shūhei Hisagi's. A sudden and unexpected surge of power.
A white flash of blade energy sliced through the air, severing the chain around Ichigo Kurosaki's neck. Ichigo Kurosaki had broken free.
"Impossible! A human-turned-Shinigami possessing spiritual pressure far exceeding my own?!"
Shūhei Hisagi's eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Ichigo Kurosaki, who was now radiating an astonishing level of spiritual pressure. He was shocked.
Rukia Kuchiki was equally stunned, completely unprepared for the immense potential hidden within Ichigo Kurosaki. She was amazed.
Ichigo Kurosaki, his gaze fixed on Shūhei Hisagi, stated firmly, "I said, as long as I'm here, no one takes Rukia." He was unwavering.
Shūhei Hisagi's expression turned serious. He crossed his curved scythe-blades, preparing for a serious confrontation.
"Then let's see if you can truly stop me. Sever, Wind Death!"
Shūhei Hisagi swung his crossed scythe-blades, unleashing two gray slashes that hurtled towards Ichigo Kurosaki. These slashes contained all of his spiritual pressure; Ichigo Kurosaki was now a formidable opponent, and he would show no mercy. He was ready for battle.
Facing Shūhei Hisagi's full-powered attack, Ichigo Kurosaki maximized his own spiritual pressure, his entire body radiating a blinding white light. He was prepared to fight.
Ichigo Kurosaki swung his massive Zanpakutō, unleashing a colossal white blade of spiritual energy that collided with Shūhei Hisagi's attack. The impact created a violent shockwave, the blinding light preventing Rukia Kuchiki from discerning the outcome. It was a fierce clash.
As the light gradually faded, both Ichigo Kurosaki and Shūhei Hisagi were revealed to be in tatters, their clothes torn by the force of the clash. They were both severely injured.
Ichigo Kurosaki, still holding his massive Zanpakutō in a striking pose, its tip firmly planted on the ground, was using it to support his weight. He was exhausted but standing.
Shūhei Hisagi, however, stared wide-eyed in disbelief at his Zanpakutō, Wind Death.
A metallic shattering sound echoed as the chains on Wind Death splintered, indicating significant damage. The weapon was broken.
"You win! But even defeating me won't save Rukia," Shūhei Hisagi said weakly before collapsing to the ground. He was defeated.
Ichigo Kurosaki, misunderstanding Shūhei Hisagi's words, believing the immediate danger had passed, attempted to reach Rukia Kuchiki, his body heavily strained.
At that moment, a figure darted past him—a black man wearing a white haori, sunglasses, and dreadlocks, blocking his path. A new opponent had arrived.
This individual's attire reminded Ichigo Kurosaki of Yusuke, who had previously saved him and his mother. A familiar figure.
"Who are you? Are you here to take Rukia too?" Ichigo Kurosaki asked, his expression grave, his voice laced with suspicion. He sensed a powerful presence.
Despite the additional haori, Ichigo Kurosaki sensed that this individual possessed greater power and authority than the Shinigami he had just defeated. He was facing a superior opponent.
Rukia Kuchiki quickly revealed the newcomer's identity. She was shocked.
Staring in astonishment at the suddenly appearing black Shinigami, her voice trembled as she uttered his name. "Captain… Tōsen!"
"Captain?" Ichigo Kurosaki's alertness heightened. He knew the man he had just defeated was a lieutenant; this individual, being a captain, would be even stronger. And his aura was truly formidable.
The individual before Ichigo Kurosaki was Tōsen Kaname, captain of the Ninth Division. He had brought Shūhei Hisagi to test Ichigo Kurosaki's strength; however, Shūhei Hisagi's unexpected defeat had changed his plans. He was displeased.
"Vizard White was a failed experiment; this must be a coincidence!" Tōsen Kaname thought to himself, his thoughts revealing his disbelief.
Despite his blindness, Tōsen Kaname accurately turned towards Ichigo Kurosaki, calmly stating, "Human, Rukia Kuchiki has committed an unforgivable crime. I must return her to Soul Society for execution. And the power you gained because of her transgression, I will reclaim." He was there to take them both.
Ichigo Kurosaki laughed angrily. "Unforgivable crime? I don't believe someone like Rukia would commit such a crime! None of you are taking her back!"
Ichigo Kurosaki raised his massive Zanpakutō, preparing to fight Tōsen Kaname. He was ready to defend his friend.
However, upon closer inspection, the black Shinigami had vanished.
A sudden, sharp pain pierced Ichigo Kurosaki's back; he had been struck.
Even more astonishingly, his massive Zanpakutō had been cleaved in two. He was completely unprepared.
With difficulty, Ichigo Kurosaki turned his head, unable to comprehend the speed of the attack. He was completely outmatched.
"Ichigo!"
Rukia Kuchiki cried out, rushing to his side to assess his injuries. She was horrified.
Tōsen Kaname didn't intervene; in his eyes, Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki's power was insignificant; the situation was completely under his control. He was confident.
"Ichigo, you shouldn't have come," Rukia Kuchiki sobbed, her voice choked with emotion. She knew escape was impossible.
Ichigo Kurosaki smiled defiantly. "Don't say such foolish things. How could I just watch you face execution for their ridiculous reasons? Don't worry; I can still fight!"
Ichigo Kurosaki struggled to rise, but he had no remaining spiritual energy or physical strength to continue fighting. He was exhausted.
"A futile struggle," Tōsen Kaname said, approaching Ichigo Kurosaki, preparing to strip him of his spiritual power.
Rukia Kuchiki stood protectively in front of Ichigo Kurosaki, her arms outstretched. She would defend him.
