The old warehouse on the outskirts of the city looked abandoned from the outside, but beneath it lay a network of underground chambers that had existed for centuries. In the deepest room, Elder Morgana stared into the black water of the scrying pool, her wrinkled hands gripping the stone edge. She had been the Covenant's most powerful seer for over 90 years.
Behind her, the other six members of the inner circle stood in shadow, their faces hidden by deep hoods.
"Impossible," she whispered.
The water rippled, showing images only she could understand and all of a sudden, eyes rolling back as a vision seized her.
Her body went rigid, trembling as ancient power coursed through her. The other members of the Covenant stepped back, recognizing the signs. When Morgana had visions, they were never wrong.
