Shibuki, jolted awake, saw the gourd in Suien's hand and his face paled.
"Go! He has the Hero Water; you're no match for him!"
Kakashi, Rin, and Obito's expressions shifted.
Seasoned by the Third Great Ninja War, they weren't inexperienced. They knew of Takigakure's Hero Water – legendary, the very foundation of the village. A single sip could increase chakra tenfold, making the user almost unbeatable.
"Relax, this kid's strong, but not a problem. I'm just surprised by his chakra blade; it looks like the Lightning Blade, one of Kirigakure's Seven Swords of Mist!" Akahoshi said, his expression grim despite his words. He glanced at the four corpses; two had died indirectly by his hand, a slight blemish on his record.
"The Lightning Blade?" Suien raised an eyebrow. "Rumor has it that Kirigakure's Seven Ninja Swordsmen challenged the Blood-Colored Asura of Konoha; some died, others surrendered. Raikiri, the wielder of the Lightning Blade, was supposedly killed by Uchiha Kai during the base raid. The blade should be in his possession."
"Could he be Uchiha Kai?"
Suien frowned, looking at the relatively young Kakashi, whose features were obscured by the dark cloak. The Lightning Blade, his mastery of Lightning Release, and his strength far exceeding his age all pointed to Uchiha Kai. The only difference was the lack of blood-red eyes.
"Suien, you think he's the Blood-Colored Asura?" Akahoshi was startled, then let out a mocking laugh.
"The Five Great Nations overestimate him. His Lightning Release and swordsmanship are impressive, but that's not enough to throw them into disarray. They're old, it's time for Hoshigakure and Takigakure to rise!"
His arrogant words hung in the air. Kakashi, Rin, and Obito rolled their eyes.
Akahoshi's ignorance wasn't surprising. His Kage title was self-proclaimed. Hoshigakure was a minor nation. Takigakure's isolation had left Suien equally out of touch.
Kakashi wouldn't correct their misconception. He glanced at Akahoshi and Suien, then signaled to Obito and Rin.
Go!
Kakashi shouted, his Lightning Blade crackling with electricity as he unleashed a series of lightning strikes.
"Lightning Slash!"
Suien and Akahoshi's faces darkened, their hands flying to form seals. The ability to wield lightning in such a precise cutting technique further solidified their belief that Kakashi was the legendary Uchiha Kai.
"Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet!"
"Mysterious Peacock Method: Dragon Form!"
Two roars echoed as the Water Dragon Bullet and Mysterious Peacock Method clashed with the Lightning Slash.
BOOM!
A massive explosion shook the magically reinforced tree hole, causing a third of it to collapse. Figures were thrown back by the blast.
"Rin, let's go! Trust Kakashi!" Obito grabbed Rin's shoulder, pulling her away.
But as they regained their footing, two more explosions echoed from the tree hole. A battered figure flew out, crashing into the lake. After using the Water Walking technique, he rolled several meters before stopping.
"Ka, are you alright?!" Rin cried out, her face pale with worry.
"Watch out behind you!" Kakashi roared, instantly making Obito and Rin tense.
"Blood-Colored Asura of Konoha, you only take us seriously now? It's too late. Blame your arrogance."
A mocking voice echoed. A figure shrouded in pale blue chakra burst from the shattered tree hole, appearing before Rin like a phantom.
"Too fast!" Obito's face paled. His Sharingan had tracked Suien's movements, but perception and reaction speed were different matters entirely. He saw the water blade forming in Suien's hand. He braced for death.
Pshhh!
Blood spurted as the water blade pierced Rin's chest.
The shock jolted Obito. His two-tomoe Sharingan instantly evolved into a three-tomoe Sharingan. A surge of immense power flooded his body, and he roared.
"Aaah! I'll kill you!"
But before he could act, a familiar voice thundered in his ear.
"Enough, no shouting. Genjutsu: Release!"
Obito heard a boom in his head. When he could see clearly again, the scene distorted, then shattered like a mirror, revealing Rin unharmed and an unexpected figure.
"M-Master, you… didn't you say you'd give me three hours?" Mizunami burst onto the scene, breathless and drenched. He was only standing due to sheer willpower.
Suien, Akahoshi, and everyone else were stunned. Obito was still reeling from the genjutsu, unaware of when Uchiha Kai had implanted the trigger or why he'd used it on him. He only knew that Kai had saved Rin at the last moment.
"Mizunami, why are you back now? Who is he?" Suien demanded urgently. He had consumed the Hero Water, gaining a massive increase in chakra. His attacks were incredibly fast and powerful, requiring no hand seals. He was satisfied with the results. But this killing blow had been stopped by the mysterious figure in the red cloud cloak.
Before Mizunami could answer, Kai smiled warmly. "Weren't you calling for me?"
