My gaze went straight to the door to find all three children in their pajamas, racing towards the bed. I looked at Nicole with guilty eyes but she was smiling at them. Great!
They got into the bed, and effortlessly got in the middle. Nicole rolled out of bed, and took the tray away, leaving me at the mercy of our super excited children.
She came back after a few minutes, and called them with a firm voice. Both Lennox and Levi climbed out of the bed, and moved towards Nicole but Laurel remained on the bed.
"I don't want to sleep yet." Laurel stated firmly, matching Nicole's energy, and suppressed the urge to laugh.
Without saying anything, Nicole walked up to the bed, and lifted Laurel from my chest where she sat comfortably. She tried to resist by holding tightly to me with her tiny hands but Nicole was in no mood for jokes, and I wasn't about to cross her.
