Chapter 619: Fighting the Guardian Alone!
The original plan was simple.
Come here, take down Kobayashi and the others first, then use them as bait and shackles to slow Ryuunosuke down.
But the moment Roy truly felt the aura rolling off Kobayashi, a chill crept up his spine.
"This might be troublesome," Roy muttered, his expression turning solemn.
He had assumed Kobayashi was not strong.
After all, Roy had stayed on Ryuunosuke's ship for quite some time. During that period, Kobayashi always looked like a minor character.
At most, she would wander over, sit somewhere, and watch everyone else train like an audience member.
A complete bystander.
Yet the pressure coming from her now was not the aura of a bystander at all.
Kobayashi sighed, looking genuinely tired.
"Honestly, as Guardians, you should at least live up to your titles."
"Isn't it enough to protect what you're meant to protect?"
"If you really want to cause trouble for our Dragon Hunter Pirates, can't you go after the other divisions?"
"They're all on the ship."
"Why did you have to come and pick a fight with me… sigh…"
Before Roy could even respond, Kobayashi vanished.
The next instant, she was already in front of him.
"What…"
Boom!
Roy was sent flying by what looked like a casual, almost lazy punch.
Kanna stared, eyes wide with surprise, then outright admiration.
"Wow… Kobayashi finally moved!"
Tohru looked even more confused than shocked.
"Kobayashi …"
"When did you awaken?"
According to what they knew, Kobayashi should have lost her memories.
But that strike just now was a unique ability that person possessed.
None of them knew when Kobayashi had awakened.
"I don't know, but awakening is a good thing!" Kanna declared immediately.
She did not care how it happened.
All that mattered was that it happened.
"Kobayashi, have you finally remembered us?" Kanna asked, unable to hide her excitement.
Tohru and Kanna had come to her side for this exact reason, to awaken her.
Kobayashi's voice cut through their chatter, calm and clear.
"Kanna, keep a close eye on those guys. We'll deal with them later."
"This one's a bit troublesome."
"Understood, Kobayashi!" Kanna answered without hesitation.
She raised her hand and grabbed up all the fallen Beasts Pirates, dragging them to the side in a neat pile like cleaning up trash after a festival.
Kobayashi barely glanced back.
Her attention returned to Roy.
He had been knocked away, yes.
But she knew that hit had not done much real damage.
Roy stepped out of the rubble, dust rolling off him, a confident smile still hanging on his face.
"Not a bad attack," he said, as if he were commenting on a sparring match.
"And those two girls behind you are very powerful as well."
"So how about it?"
"Join our Guardians."
"There's no future following the Dragon Hunter Pirates."
He spoke smoothly, as if the idea were reasonable.
In his mind, the attack was not enough to threaten him. At most, Kobayashi was annoying.
And if he could persuade her to switch sides, it would stab Ryuunosuke in both mind and heart.
How could he not try?
Kobayashi stared at him like he had just told a joke with no punchline.
"Join the Guardians?"
"The guy who's been chased all over the world by our Dragon Hunter Pirates dares to say that."
"You really do have thick skin."
Her words were casual, but her aura kept rising, denser with every breath.
There was a reason Ryuunosuke had made her the captain of the Fifth Division.
It was not just because she had two loyal dragon maids.
It was because she had strength.
Within the Dragon Hunter Pirates, strength was always the final authority.
Roy's smile faded.
He understood. There was no room left to talk.
"Fine. If there's no room to maneuver, then we move."
"Imu!"
The moment Roy spoke, he shot forward.
He did not have the leverage to persuade Kobayashi, so he chose the simplest path.
Beat her first, then decide what to do next.
Roy and Imu rushed at Kobayashi like two sharp arrows.
Their momentum distorted the air itself, and the violent fluctuations pushed away dust and debris around them.
Kanna took a step forward instinctively, ready to help.
But a small hand stopped her.
Tohru's gaze was determined.
"Kobayashi…"
"It's alright."
"Kobayashi can do it."
Kanna met Tohru eyes, then nodded.
She sat back down, watching the fight unfold.
As Roy and Imu attacked, a layer of white dragon scales began to spread across Kobayashi's arm.
Every strike, every angle, every burst of force, she met it head on and dissolved it.
Her arms moved like dragon claws, and those hands carried an absolute defense.
After more than a dozen exchanges, Roy and Imu finally halted, pulling back at the same time.
Kobayashi spoke softly, almost like she was thinking aloud.
"That was strange just now. I couldn't detect Imu's presence."
"So there was no trace of breath at all."
"It looks like you've gained other powerful abilities."
She exhaled, a quiet sigh.
"This time… did you sacrifice Imu's soul?"
Her words were calm, but the meaning behind them was heavy.
Strength was not a blessing.
Humans were too easily twisted by power.
That was exactly why Kobayashi had sealed her own strength back then.
What Kanna and the others had learned was not the truth at all.
After living as an ordinary person for a while, Kobayashi had begun to feel that kind of life was better.
That was her belief.
But she also understood something simple.
Even now, countless humans still rushed toward power like moths to flame.
And in the end, what remained was only emptiness.
Roy's expression warped.
It was as if Kobayashi's words had pierced something he had buried deep.
"What do you know?" Roy hissed.
A terrifying life force erupted from him.
Blood mist swirled around his body, thick and suffocating.
At the same time, Imu, whose eyes were vacant, appeared behind Roy.
Their auras began to fuse.
The two presences layered together, locking into one shape.
In an instant, Imu transformed into the form of the Uranus.
A gigantic dragon manifested directly in front of Kobayashi.
"A dragon?!" the air itself seemed to tremble.
Kobayashi did not flinch.
Instead, she sounded almost apologetic.
"I'm really sorry."
"You probably don't know why our Fifth Division is called Dragon Tamer, do you?"
She lifted her gaze, eyes sharp.
"Because any dragon type existence is suppressed in my presence."
As she raised her hand, a dragon shaped seal surfaced on her arm.
Pressure crashed down like a mountain.
Roy's body stiffened, and he could not lift his head.
"Hold your head high!" Imu roared.
The next moment, the Heavenly King dragon lunged straight at Kobayashi.
